  • All this inspiration for a bottle of alcohol. They should do a commercial which such inspiration for marijuana.

  • Jim Beam is not as good as this commercial.

  • I thought it was a bold choice to, til I woke up with a pool of puke on one side and a tranny on the other.

  • Great video, until the alchohol came up.

  • This commecial motivated me to drink more.

  • @210raab That's a bold choice.

  • drinkin beam right now. owwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a surprisingly thought provoking ad.

  • He's the black Samuel Jackson, he can alter his appearance and play any role.

  • @mike20956 I believe you mean the white Samuel Jackson ;)

  • @hgolightly21 Thats what I meant my bad haha was typing fast.

  • Here is why the Milwaukee reference... Dafoe was actually born in Wisconsin. The decision for him to leave as a teen to go to NYC is actually one he did make. Amazing!

  • Can't stop rewatching this.

  • I am confused. Why are some of his parallels bald (minus the rock and sumo scene)? I don't think he determines that... unless he pulls his own hair out from frustration or something.

  • @nelsonta00 probably the stress of alcoholism owed to too much jim beam

  • @nelsonta00 I think because the choices are at different times in life. The bus scene, for instance is supposed to be early in life. If he doesn't get out, the ad says, he'll still be sitting in the same place drinking coffee in 30 years.

  • @mediabistrotool This commercial won 3 AICP awards. Either you have an amazing knack for judgement or the complete opposite.

  • Wow, I'm surprised that this commercial is well done. I was rooting Allstate's Mayhem for AICP till I saw this. Mayhem is still cool and funny tho.

  • jim beam can go to hell. milwaukee rocks

  • Commercial? This is the most motivating shit I've ever seen!

  • @mediabistrotool believe it or not this ad actually got really good reviews

  • Oh, I get it.. If you want to proceed in a productive life, take ya ass to NEW YORK CITY.

  • Williem Dafoe, his voice is so discrete. Just like Liam Neeson (from the movie, "Taken")

  • Awesome Video Real kool message!!

  • Is it just me or does Willem Dafoe pull off every one of these looks? Like, I keep saying to myself, "Yeah, he makes a convincing trapeze artist. Yeah, he makes a convincing fashion designer."

  • Great Ad with Perfect Actor Willem Dafoe. Great Work!

  • This is the best commercial ever and would make the best movie where Willem Dafoe plays every character

  • Yeah, and at the end he dies because he realizes he doesn't have any compatibility with any other of those people.. You know how movies are.

  • @Smariman

    Hell yes.

  • Hey Willy, I find your Jim Beam commercial both insulting and a sick portrayal of this addictive and hurtful habit. Your attempt at selling whiskey as "where you are supposed to go" could include: broken family, alcoholism, lack of reality, loss of motivation, killed brain cells, drunk, sick, wasted, pre-cursor to heavy drugs, DUI, drunk driving manslaughter and mental illness. "Bold choices take you where you are supposed to go". Where, straight to hell? A Former Fan.

  • @NoLongerDafoeFan lighten the fuck up...... if you weren't so far up your own ass then you'd probably like whiskey. count the amount of people that drink alcohol, then the amount of alcoholics, small percentage isnt it

  • This is definitely at least partly stolen from Podtoid.

    Tut.

  • How ironic. Something that reflects reality for something that alters reality. And the ad treats you like an adult. That's the kind of marketer I want to be.

  • es tan cierto lo que dice, me encanta!

  • Wow, the green goblin is pretty wise.

  • GoAT advert is GoAT

  • If only this commercial was for greyhound bus then it would be 9000x more epic!

  • I really love the emotion and the message of this commercial...I'm just upset that it's for something stupid and as bad as alcohol :(

  • This commercial is awesome!!

  • I'm bout to go watch Platoon, love me some Dafoe

  • this commercial is the THE SHIT SOOOONNNNNNN!!!

  • whats the song in the background called?

  • best alcohol commerical period.

  • New York: Jim and Coke

    Milwaukee: Jack and Coke

    .... Parallels

  • it was A FIRE FIGHT!!!!

    Amazing commercial.

  • I used to love Dafoe but then he started becoming really apathetic (in real life), really washed up and all into yoga and New Age "tolerate everything" nonsense. I mean, it's one thing to be soft spoken and respectful, but he has lost all charm and character.

I'm not asking him to be a wacko like in SOME of his movies, or to be a superstar, but I would prefer him to get some of the old charm back. (for example, look up "dafoe fishing with john"

Thumbs up if you want the old Dafoe back!

  • So, we've learned that success comes not from hard work and dedication, but rather from the consumption of a particular brand of a poison which acts to radically hinder the efficiency of the central nervous system. Also that the people of Milwaukee are inferior to the people of New York. What an utter crock of shit.

  • 5 people have had way too much Jim Bean.

  • yo it's just the way the face is imprinted, it looks so awkward, i dont think it has to do with the guy being a sumo wrestler

  • what song is this?

  • This was an amazing commercial. It really got my wheels turnin' upstairs.

  • interesting how the commercial portraits the ordinary jobs with such a sad and lonely touches, whereas, the businessman going from the plane to his limo, and the fashion designer are portrait in a more attractive light. I believe, that you don't have to be successful, famous or rich to be happy, but this commercial makes, (at least me) feel otherwise. So, right, this message makes me depressed and inspires to get that drink they're promoting. and get wasted.

  • funny, he is a great actor

  • love skinhead WD

  • Two words: Sumo Dafoe.

  • They should have included the scene from Platoon where Dafoe gets shot when trying to get to da choppah!

  • This is the most thoughtful, intriguing commercial I've ever seen...and it doesn't hurt that it's Willem DeFoe who is in it. Absolutely amazing, wonderfully creative...and all this for a Jim Beam commercial? Yowza!

  • I love Willem - he's not handsome but rather intriguing - loved him in Nosferatu....

  • I make the best choices when I drink Beam!

  • Lol, Skinhead Willem Dafoe.

  • 5 people didn't make bold choices they made stupid ones.

  • Basically, don't ever get on a bus to Milwaukee, or you'll be a sumo wrestler.

  • I Love Dafoe!

  • for alcoholics and members of their families it's all lies

  • This inspires me to drink whiskey and then go make some choices.

  • how come EVERY SINGLE THING with Willem Dafoe has to be somewhat wierd or creepy? every single commercial, tv or movie i feel in a way, creeped out? every time?

  • @bjnovak1 He's not creepy in tom and viv, victory, and that piece of shit he made with his wife, before it had a name

  • music?

  • im gonna cry SOOOOOOOO MUCH when willem dafoe dies :'(

  • @punkhop23 Don't- EVEN- SAY-THAT EVER!!!!

  • Why the hate on Milwaukee.. and why can't I be all those people?

  • ala seme salio una lagrima

  • I think the moral of this ad is ... drink too much Jim Beam and you might make the wrong choices!..

The sumo must be an afterthought to connect with the japanese market .. just like Bill Murray in "Lost in Translation" .. "Its Suntory Time"

  • Brilliant.

  • Way to go Niki!

  • @ CPZULOAGA , Thank you. I am going to keep a note of this and keep it with me.

  • I've read that the post rockish music is original and created for the commercial.

Good philosophy, applicable to life, not to alcohol.

  • is this the new Kevin Bacon commercial?

  • Comment removed

  • Could've been awesome but all this for some spirit hmmm. Agree, ad for Greyhound would've looked better

  • @enjoypolo

    agreed

  • I don't think Willem Defoe would takes buses these days.

  • what is this music playing in the background .. its grounbreaking

  • the sumo version is the best!

  • he's a great actor.

  • Puede alguien traducir/transcribir lo que dicen en el anuncio??? ; )

  • ¿Es lo que necesitas? ==Transcripcion== Life boils down to a series of choices. Before long, the choices you make, and the ones you don't, become you. But which you? Worse. Better. Someone you can’t even recognize? It can make you question everything. Whether you’re strong enough…good enough. All choices lead you somewhere. Bold choices take you where you’re supposed to be.
  • Drink poison - It makes you realise that you have a fuckload of choices to make.

    Bold choices.

  • wow, that was an endorsement.

  • can someone write what they say??

I do not understand some words ...

    thanks

  • Here is =)

Life boils down to a series of choices.

    But which you?

  • Why does everyone not like the sumo part? I thought that was probably the better contrasts in the commercial. WILLEM DAFOE!!!!

  • dobra reklama

  • superb actor :)

  • >implying drinking jim beam is a bold choice.

  • the commercial has a subtle marketing strategy. Namely, anyone drinking jim beam's ditch water probably made the choice to manage a factory in Milwaukee, they watch this, and sob for their unchangeable past. Naturally, this means more jim beam is drunk. Could back fire though. A lot more suicide.

  • Moral of the story "Your best choices in life are found at the bottom of the whiskey bottle"

  • Make a choice to drink booze a lot and I'm guessing you would end up shoveling elephant poop faster than you would be the CEO of a company.

  • So, funny thing about Willem Dafoe. His name sounds like it's being spoken by a frog, then a parrot. Willem. DA-FOE! Willem. DA-FOE!

  • new york vs milwaukee?

  • @rahuldasfilms He was born in Appleton Wisconsin. The funny thing is he did go to Milwaukee for school before moving to New York.

  • @onagoodday627 Thanks for the info!

  • I wish this was a movie, not a fucken ad :(

  • Anyone else see this and think it was for greyhound?

  • Wow, you're right. This can easily be a Greyhound ad. Maybe Greyhound is getting some usage out of this.

  • I guess the sumo part was their bold choice.

  • very inspiring commercial, but i think they tripped themselves with the sumo part, did no one on set say "wait a minute... this is not a good idea at all"

  • After he gets on the bus it cuts to a shot of the green goblin throwing grenades at people atop a skyscraper.

  • The most inspiring liquor commercial I've ever seen.

  • I once drank an entire bottle of Jim Beam in one night and I did not become William Defoe. All it did was make me vomit in the bathroom of a KFC. I promptly demanded my money back the next day.

  • Is this explosions in the sky?

  • @xPachacha

No. I don't know what it is, but it's not EITS.

  • I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

  • What's the song?

  • i'm confused. so if i drink and get crazy drunk on jim beam bold choice it will help me make bold choices & get me where i'm suppose to be or if i drink bold choice i'll bad choices and never go where i want to go or be a fuck up for the rest of my life.

  • willem dafoe and whiskey. my two favourite things.

  • so you're saying if I drink this I could become Willem Dafoe OH BOY !

  • I've gotta say, that was one of the most inspiring commercials I've ever seen. Creatively it was brilliant.

  • Wonderful. But too big for the brand.

  • what's this damn music, eh?

  • Someone from Milwaukee didn't like this.

  • i thought "Wow i need to ride a Greyhound".....

  • was with with 100% until the sumo part. what the fuck.

  • @thepocarisweat Willem Dafoe isn't playing the role, the role is playing Willem Dafoe.

  • @thepocarisweat

Should be been a scene in front of a movie camera instead.

  • @thepocarisweat

may be these are dreams willem wanted when he was young.

Willem Dafoe as a small child: "I wanna be a sumo when I grow up Mommy!"

Mom: you can be whatever you want to be honey.

One of Willem's siblings: you need to get like fat as hell to be a sumo Billy, so eat up!

  • @thepocarisweat HAHA! I'm with you, the sumo part kinda fucked it up for me too.

  • @pstchaseki Im not trying to be a dick or anything but why did the sumo part fuck with you? Like why does that profession stand out among the others to you?

  • It's not the profession that stands out, it's the special effect/make up conveying a more outrageously comical effect which threw off the intrigue of the commercial as a whole. Also couple things you got wrong and right; NO, the sumo part didn't FUCK with me, it kinda fucked up the "visual line" of the story, and YES, You may not of been trying but you came off as a DICK with your reply.

  • @pstchaseki Well sir or mam I disagree with you on all counts. Lets leave it at that.

  • Comment removed

  • @thepocarisweat I dont get what you mean by that, and I dont see how 51 people get it either

  • It'll be cool if they got this in toned down colors too.

  • this made me cry. i love when ads make me cry.

  • just drink jim bean and you'll end up where you're supposed to be

  • @maverick7C TO THE MOON THEN! WHHOOOSSSHHHH!!

  • @maverick7C in hospital

  • another good one by Dante Nipple!

  • @vintge : the areola is AROUND the nipple

  • very good, would have taken this more seriously though without the sumo....

  • soooo cool

  • Willam Dafoe is one of my favorite actors, this is really cool
