I hate this style of guitar tapping, and I love guitar tapping. It just sounds like a solo and all the people (most all) that do tap like this sound so similar and honestly it's the most over-rated style of playing guitar. It's way easier than it looks and sounds. However, bands that do a lot of guitar tapping with a much better style of doing it are awesome (bands like Tera Melos, Maps and Atlases, Hella, Giraffes? Giraffes!, etc.). My friends and I write songs that sound better than this shit.

Exactly, the great part is that it takes "countless hours" of practice to do it. Hence, the video is a testament to the man's extraordinary dedication to his instrument. Also, it is also great that he manages to include actual melody into a technique-oriented piece which few players can do. All-in-all though, musical taste is entirely subjective, so it is understandable that these qualities may not appeal to you, just as it appeals to others. So please try to be respectful :)

Can someone tell me why tapping is harder on my les paul ultra II than its in exemple on Schecter Hellraiser, when using the same amp with the same settings? On les paul you have to hammer so much harder than on hellraiser, does different mics mainly cause this?

No he used the pickup switch if you if you turn the volume off from one of the pickups and move the switch up and down quickly you get the same effect as a killswitch
