What you should do is get a 1980s Caprice. First off, you can run over anyone who gets in your way. Second, you can ram a shopping cart into it all you want and the worst that will happen is you will scratch the paint at which point you paint over it and you're good to go, unlike some of the cars today where all you gotta do is poke them too hard and they have a dent in them.
I ran out of characters... but I drive a 1984 Buick Park Avenue in good shape for it's age. Car is huge, insanely comfortable, and rides much better than newer carss. I've been rear ended when I was stopped at a red light. The guy who hit me wrecked his bumper, but I just got a crowbar, pulled the bumper out (it's on a spring like system) and you couldn't even tell I got hit.

If you live in the big city and park in a pay lot, this is what always happens. People just don't care. Don't keep anything valuable in your car in plain site or your window may be smashed and the contents gone and the attendant will play dumb. I happened to me.

Just that there isn't that much to do if it's the only 24hr parking lot around...If it isn't and there's another one that is further away...Try with them and then maybe see if they are better...a little walking can't be something bad for you...Unless you work in a bad area.

Hmmmm.. Well the first thing I would tell you to do is to do a walk around with the guy in the morning when you drop your car off and also in the evening when you pick it up this way any NEW damage is noticed right there. Also take pictures of your car ( showing date ) so you can have a history of what damage you have and dont have. Lastly, go to this guys local shop and see what they will charge. I vallet my truck when I go into the city & I got it back once with trash & dings & scratches & beer bottles; you could tell somebody had dropped the tailgate & sat in the back with their food & drinks.
I took a bazillion photos and reported it to the management then after they refused to clean & fix it I took them to court.
Like parking garages/lots, vallets have this little disclaimer that reads that they are not responsible.
So sorry that this is happening to you, Jill! People simply have no respect for other people's properties. And few things irritate me more than inconsiderate people. I've seen so many people swing their car doors open, without caring for the car next to them. I've seen folks with shopping carts that don't give a crap. I've also had my license plates stolen (front and back). It's unfortunate that things like this happen!
Not sure what can be done. I don't know how it is in NY, but where I am, the lot rule is pretty much "park at your own risk". Check with your insurance company. If you have full coverage, you might get away with paying just the deductible. Sorry, Jill!

The important thing is that you WEREN'T in a car accident, and that you weren't hurt. It could be local vandals/gang member types too, so I say better your car getting scratched up than you getting hurt/killed etc.
You need to be sure about things. Take a picture before you leave the lot, and one immediately after. That way you'll know for sure if the damage is occurring there, and have evidence should the need for legal action arise. it could be vandals. Or a stalker who saw you on YouTube and wants a piece of your car lol Um that was just a joke, why are the police here to question me?
Take the day off from work but don't tell the parking guys. Then "go to work", and hide in the bushes with your webcam. You wanna get whoever is doing this on tape...
When your car is all better, the next time you leave it at the parking lot, get the attendant to come inspect the car and see that it is dent and scratch free. That way if you come back to it and its damaged at all that proves that it happens whilst at the lot.
I just emptied out my truck of all personal and work belongings so it could spend the week at the body shop. Someone had backed into it on Feb 27 denting in my rear fender on the drivers side :( Luckily it was parked and not my fault so I dont have to pay the deductible:) I just dont have my truck for the week and have to bum a ride. park your car somewhere else in the parking lot. see if that helps. dont park on the corners of a path where other cars round the corner. thats a shame you can't have a nice car without other people damaging it.don't bother to get it fixed until you find out who is doing this to you. in MI if your vehicle is parked and someone hits you and runs. you have to make a police report and explain when and where and you dont have to pay your deductible.
I don't think that would apply in this case. That sounds like a HUGE hole for fraud if you can claim any dent as a hit and run. I'm pretty sure the deductible is a lost cause. Gotta pay it. But beyond that, you should always file an insurance report immediately. You do not need to follow through with a claim that might affect your rates, etc. But if you don't make a report, you won't have the option should you find out repairs are more expensive than you thought. Always report!!
It is that way in Michigan we have a nofault Ins system. It just happened to me. 3 weeks ago my truck was parked at a restaraunt and when i came out some one had backed into truck leaving a big dent scratches and paint from there vehicle. The cops came out to make a report and the Ins adjuster looks at it also. If you are claiming one or more hit and runs a year your rates will go up but you still dont have to pay the deductible. If you are claiming alot of hit and runs they may just cancel you.
Can you ask other people who use the lot whether they've had the same problems you had?
Maybe leave flyers on their windshields? If other people have had the same problems that you've had, you might get all the people together and go to the guy who owns the lot and tell him that all these people have had the same problem and that you are considering suing him or something. Or get everyone to sign a petition. That should get the problem noticed. - Sorry that it happened to you. Bummer. :-(

Booby trap the car! Make sure that if something happens to it, you find a dead body of the responsible party. If that doesn't work, then some stores have somewhat cheap security cameras that can be installed in your car. Once you have a face associated with the felony, you can take legal action!!!!!

As for getting payment, you have options:
(1) Insist that he go price it and see what you can work out
(2) Use YOUR car insurance...if it's a lease, you likely have comprehensive...OR uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Either should handle costs.
Nice lot, but it obviously sucks too. For the future, perhaps you can find someplace w/ more space & better stalls?

If you live in the big city and park in a pay lot, this is what always happens. People just don't care. Don't keep anything valuable in your car in plain site or your window may be smashed and the contents gone and the attendant will play dumb. I happened to me.

It's very obvious That during the night you are sleep walking to your car, and then sleep driving around the city. You need to start chaining your self to your bed at night, so you will quit messing up your car, LOL

Those bastards will never do what they say until pushed into a corner. I agree with damon858, you're a YouTube Goddess! Get some friends to watch with a camera, may take a couple days but it would be worth it in the long run, you will catch someone...always file a police report, doesn't mean you have to make an Ins Claim but you want it documented.

Well I'm not one to actually believe that your car is cursed, but looking at this track record does make me wonder.
Okay, seriously, this is just a string of bad coincidences, I'm guessing. Not sure what advice I'd give you. You can't control what happens when you're not around. About the only thing I'd recommend is finding alternate parking options.
Or install a spy cam to the car that switches to record on impact?

Well I don't really have any advice for you Jill. Just that there isn't that much to do if it's the only 24hr parking lot around...If it isn't and there's another one that is further away...Try with them and then maybe see if they are better...a little walking can't be something bad for you...Unless you work in a bad area.
Oh and that cut you got, at least it was for a good cauz ! Again, a very good video you did there =)

Since it seems like they take the car from you to park it, can you ask a bunch of people at your job or the building you work in, whether they've also had problems? Do you have insurance or did you report it to somewhere? You should get some compensation
You also could try to:
1. Use public transportation, especially if you can use the subway
2. Buy a worse car like a 20 year old VW Golf or something and just don't care about the dents. People with new cars also seem to give you a lot more space...

Hmmmm.. Well the first thing I would tell you to do is to do a walk around with the guy in the morning when you drop your car off and also in the evening when you pick it up this way any NEW damage is noticed right there. Also take pictures of your car ( showing date ) so you can have a history of what damage you have and dont have. Lastly, go to this guys local shop and see what they will charge. Your looking at $500.00 or so from what I would guess. Good Luck..... Joey

I vallet my truck when I go into the city & I got it back once with trash & dings & scratches & beer bottles; you could tell somebody had dropped the tailgate & sat in the back with their food & drinks.
I took a bazillion photos and reported it to the management then after they refused to clean & fix it I took them to court.
Like parking garages/lots, vallets have this little disclaimer that reads that they are not responsible.
$3200 to repair the damage & clean the truck!

So sorry that this is happening to you, Jill! People simply have no respect for other people's properties. And few things irritate me more than inconsiderate people. I've seen so many people swing their car doors open, without caring for the car next to them. I've seen folks with shopping carts that don't give a crap. I've also had my license plates stolen (front and back). It's unfortunate that things like this happen!

Not sure what can be done. I don't know how it is in NY, but where I am, the lot rule is pretty much "park at your own risk". Check with your insurance company. If you have full coverage, you might get away with paying just the deductible. Sorry, Jill!

I was thinking, Jill... if you're going to continue parking at that lot, maybe fixing it now is a waste of money. I mean, it'll just get dinged and scratched up again. Unless your insurance or the lot people are going to pay for it - at which case, you'll want to do it sooner than later - you may want to wait a little bit before spending all that money.

i live in charlotte, NC; and there is this hispanic body shop (nothing fancy)- but they do the most awesome jobs for a real, and i mean real low price!
for ur car im sure it wouldn't go above $700... but i certainly hope it's nowhere near $2500, cuz that woul be a big YIKES!!!

The important thing is that you WEREN'T in a car accident, and that you weren't hurt. It could be local vandals/gang member types too, so I say better your car getting scratched up than you getting hurt/killed etc.

You need to be sure about things. Take a picture before you leave the lot, and one immediately after. That way you'll know for sure if the damage is occurring there, and have evidence should the need for legal action arise. it could be vandals. Or a stalker who saw you on YouTube and wants a piece of your car lol Um that was just a joke, why are the police here to question me?

When your car is all better, the next time you leave it at the parking lot, get the attendant to come inspect the car and see that it is dent and scratch free. That way if you come back to it and its damaged at all that proves that it happens whilst at the lot.

I just emptied out my truck of all personal and work belongings so it could spend the week at the body shop. Someone had backed into it on Feb 27 denting in my rear fender on the drivers side :( Luckily it was parked and not my fault so I dont have to pay the deductible:) I just dont have my truck for the week and have to bum a ride. Im glad I have lots of friends that I have helped out before. Everything will be ok, and workout in the end:) xoxo

park your car somewhere else in the parking lot. see if that helps. dont park on the corners of a path where other cars round the corner. thats a shame you can't have a nice car without other people damaging it.don't bother to get it fixed until you find out who is doing this to you. in MI if your vehicle is parked and someone hits you and runs. you have to make a police report and explain when and where and you dont have to pay your deductible.

I don't think that would apply in this case. That sounds like a HUGE hole for fraud if you can claim any dent as a hit and run. I'm pretty sure the deductible is a lost cause. Gotta pay it. But beyond that, you should always file an insurance report immediately. You do not need to follow through with a claim that might affect your rates, etc. But if you don't make a report, you won't have the option should you find out repairs are more expensive than you thought. Always report!!

It is that way in Michigan we have a nofault Ins system. It just happened to me. 3 weeks ago my truck was parked at a restaraunt and when i came out some one had backed into truck leaving a big dent scratches and paint from there vehicle. The cops came out to make a report and the Ins adjuster looks at it also. If you are claiming one or more hit and runs a year your rates will go up but you still dont have to pay the deductible. If you are claiming alot of hit and runs they may just cancel you.

Can you ask other people who use the lot whether they've had the same problems you had?
Maybe leave flyers on their windshields? If other people have had the same problems that you've had, you might get all the people together and go to the guy who owns the lot and tell him that all these people have had the same problem and that you are considering suing him or something. Or get everyone to sign a petition. That should get the problem noticed. - Sorry that it happened to you. Bummer. :-(

I bet somebody did it to your car. You were working or at home and somebody came by put dents and scaracthes in your car. WOW Jill, and I thought I had car issues! It's quite obvious that something or SOMEONE hates you or your car! First, as much as you like this lot, it's time to find another one! Secondly, whomever owns or runs this lot is bound to have some sort of responsibility; because if people stop parking there, they wont make any money! As much of a pain as it may be; you may want to seek some legal advice; otherwise, you're going to be spending a lot of money on repairs on a car that you did not cause!

Booby trap the car! Make sure that if something happens to it, you find a dead body of the responsible party. If that doesn't work, then some stores have somewhat cheap security cameras that can be installed in your car. Once you have a face associated with the felony, you can take legal action!!!!!

If you want to get techy with it than you should buy four micro sized video recording cams, mount one on the left side of your windsheild(inside of car) and one on the left side, mount the other two on the rear corners and buy a power converter to plug everything in.
