  • I don't think one version has to be better than the other. They are both amazing. If you are a Jack White fan, you should see the beautiful irony in the fact that a song he wrote is considered by many to be "made for bluegrass." Makes sense given his diverse interests and talents. Best part of this remake for me - the use of the falsetto voice a la Jack. So glad to have found the Punch Brothers via the White Stripes!

  • WHAT THE FUCK AM I HEARING?? AND WHY IS IT SO DAMN AWESOME?!?!?!?!

  • Splendid.....Great.Musicians ....! Thanks...

  • LOVE IT!!!!! Its my fav White Stripes song and they covered it perfectly. This Metal head chick is turning into a redneck I tell ya

  • @daniphithyful Hillbilly... not redneck

  • Thats not Blugrass, but its the best pop country song I have heard. Well one of the best POP COUNTRY

  • @bluegrasssingingman they are far from pop country my friend.

  • @joejones891 No it just sucks as much.

  • @bluegrasssingingman well, opinions are like assholes. everyone has one, and they all generaly stick.

  • @bluegrasssingingman

Seems to post this on most of the Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek youtubes. Troll.

  • whenever i hear this I get this memory that isn't really mine of better times long ago. The white stripes version is just to gritty and dark for me... this is so much better.

  • This is everything a remake should be - brilliantly done in the band's own style and genre, yet recognizable enough to pay homage to the greatness of the original. Excellent.

  • @tat2cale Well said.

  • I haven't heard the original but I love these guys. Hope you can make to San Diego or somewhere on the West Coast. Cheers

  • Love the music and the Rembrandt lighting.

  • I've seen the white stripes perform this song live and I've seen the Punch Brothers perform this song live----

verdict---this song was made for bluegrass...way to rock it out Punch Brothers

  • it's missing something... something called distortion. Don't get me wrong, i just saw these guys live last night and it was amazing, but this just doesn't hold up to the original version of the song.

  • This is SOOOO much better than the original!

  • I love Chris Thile and I also love the White Stripes and I have seen both of them perform live.....but I'm sorry Chris, this doesn't touch it.

Better luck on your next cover, don't mess with perfection.

  • dont get me wrong, because i love the punch brothers and bluegrass, but this cover could never touch the raw energy in the original. this cover is still amazing though. everyone in this band is so talented.

  • I saw them live two days ago and I tell you this is the most amazing band I´ve ever seen. They sound live even better than on CD!!!

A total must have heard band

  • Chris Thile can take any song, cover it and make it his own. The originals are still great, don't get me wrong. But his covers are brilliant! Check out his Radiohead cover and The Strokes cover.

  • he does a great cover of "poor places" by Wilco too. stellar.

  • Hey, this is pretty good!

  • I love it best of both worlds

  • Of all the tunes on that CD to make a video too...A cover???

  • I lke the White Stripes version but I think that this is even better (it's a bit more my style)

  • Exactly, its your style...mine too...but someone will come and say "Are you kidding me the white stripes did it wayyy bettter!"!@#!@#"

  • Are you kidding me the white stripes did it wayyy bettter!"!@#!@#
