Look at how easily Roddick (in-form) can throw a spanner into Murrays works. As a brit I just wish the British Media would stop their biased crap. Andy Murray is the 4th best player...so semi appearances at slams justify his ranking. I miss this Roddick and I hope he changes coach and gets back into the top 20 where he belongs.
How I wish Roddick play's like this again. More flatter groundstrokes more often, variation of pace, more concentration and commitment to volleys, not being stupid in approach shots less often....
look i don't like murray. but when he is playing aggressively he is very good. however whenever he gets nervous basically anytime he is up against a player ranked higher than himself, he gets so passive. i love andy roddick and i remember cheering for him everytime he played.
@MrHersheySquirts effort in each year and has to face Nadal. Its unfortunate that he's not quite as talented as Nadal and maybe Djoko but he certainly deserves to win it, he tries so hard. Same for Roddick, but he always has to play f***ing Federer.
Brilliant from Roddick, such a great guy. I so wanted him to win that year, thought he could do it. Don't think he'll get another chance now though unfortunately.
Murray will never win. He has a decent amount of talent but look at his competition. They act like they want to be in the second week and Andy Murray plays slow, defensive tennis. This match was awful. No wonder why they haven't won anything relevant...Let's be serious, nobody gives a shit about davis cup. They played horrible approach shots and gave the other guys endless opportunities for "great" pedestrian passing shots. Murray won't win wimbledon and that's sad...but he doesn't deserve it.
it's such a pitty that andy has never won wimbledon. he deserves it so much. i'm a great fan of roger, but aftwerwards i wished andy had won the title. wimbledon is still a special tournament for him.
@kelman221 shocking isnt it. roddick played far better shots but i still think roddick could have led to his downfall with some poor shots at rare times
I would like to think that his game can still be bether than his actual game....but it seems like he has showed already everything he has to show.....still like him as a player....
@kelman221 I agree, it seem´s like andy´s changed his game style, to hitting consistently, rather than cracking winner´s, the way he did in 2003-04..he may have ajusted his raquet/string/tension, to suit his consistent ground game as well..
@zzzbrianxxx Yeah I loved that moment. It's even more touching because you know that it's legitimate. You have to seriously wonder if even Andy himself had begun to doubt that he could ever make it back to the final of a Grand Slam. Even though I'm a Roger Federer fan through and through and at the time I was rooting against Roddick, I now wish that Andy had won the title because I can't imagine how much that would have meant to him. Wimbledon has always been the one he really wants to win.

some of his shots and approach play in this vid is superb and he was the worthy victor. stop being so goddamn picky.
Roddick has been in the top 10 for 8 years, it's obvious people haven't really 'figured out' a way to get Roddick's serve back - else he would have dissapeared. Oh and your other point below is just idiotic; Roddick has actually beaten Nadal/Berdych etc this year. And you're judging Roddick's serve by his FO result. LOL idiot. That's all.
@Anaconda43VR ...yeah they have figured his serve out. FO, Wimbledon, Australian, US Open...if this serve was so amazing then he could be winning every match in straight sets and winning every single ATP title he enters and getting straight into every slam final. is that happening anymore? No. Say no more.
I really like Roddick because he's not the most physically gifted player, he's not the fastest, he's not the most flashy, and he doesn't even have the biggest serve anymore, but he just keeps coming. He never gives up on a match and he always gives 100%. Even though his 100% might not be as good as other players giving 90, he still always puts it out there. It was great to see how emotional he got after this win. I loved the shot later when he sits on the stairs inside the club and just weeps.
Allways admired Roddick because of his sheer determination and grit. Like in the 5th set of the final he just kept battling, but the magician that is federer kept the pressure on and then Roddick being exhausted after playing 2 long matches shanked the ball on the last to give fed the championship.
i hate how the commentators are always supporting the british guy, and always saying how great he is, and always slagging off the other guy (in this case roddick). They dont seem to comment on what awsome shots roddick did. roddick to win wimbledon this year (:
@Freddongg cos andrew castle is a fucking amateur!! and plus roddick played far better shots than murray, they were instinctive and shots you wold trust roddick to make. murray is just a jammy twat, and needs to stop being such a cocky twat whenever he plays a good shot. the fact is ignore the support and just realise that if ur playing bad its ur fault. plus roddick is very underrated, he still pulls out the stops
magic outta nowhere from roddick at 3:00. i cant believe commentators said it was a mishit. fuck off, it was not - he actually put that sideward top spin on it by hitting it like a mini slice smash but with his racquet head low down. it was a smart play.
In the old days, before power became so dominant in tennis, there were such things as touch, finesse and even tactics. So nowadays, when people talk about a player "pushing", they mean that he doesn't try to murder the ball on every stroke. As if that was the only way to play.
Murray played like shit, he is too defensive on the biggest matches of his career so far.. like Lendl was at the beginning before he learned how to win
the reason why alot of ppl hype Murray is because they see what he is capable of when he hammers the ball, look how he cleaned Nadal out in Aussie Open quarters, but in the final v federer what did he do? went back to tentative cat and mouse play.
@Mirren81 I understand where you are coming from but comparing Murray to Lendl is a poor comparison. Someone like Mecir would be a lot better to compare with Murray as they both have that similar type of feel game.
The reason why he reverted back to his "cat and mouse" type of game, is because clearly that is his type of game, he can't help it. Like Murray has said himself, Roger and Rafael play completely different. Murray's game matches up well against Nadal like Hewitt years ago.
yeh..murray is too defensive in big matches, but thats his natural game i guess..to be a counter puncher..
he will learn to change in time..he's only 23!! i see him winning slams in the future...probably wimbledon because he will have MASSIVE HOME CROWD ADVANTAGE on centre court..which counts for alot in big matches.
Oh come on let's get real. Anyone who thinks Murray is capable of winning 5+ slams is living in a dream world. He doesn't have the game to be competing deep at slams because he plays too defensive. Guys aren't going to miss in slam semi's and finals and are on form. Playing defensive will work in the early rounds but not against the guys who are feeling it.
Look at the comments of ANY vid of where he's playing and 90% of people say he's a cunt.
Fact is, he's a great player, and you guys have NO IDEA whether or not he's a cunt off the court so the amount of hate he gets is just baffling to me. Totally irrational.
@BrotherTree1 Well, when Roddick has time on the ball and when he is moving well, he is very dangerous. I mean the guy is a tad taller than Federer and Nadal, and you see he is a pretty heavy guy in terms of height to weight ratio compared to many other players. So when he has time on the ball and can get into position and use his natural weight advantage, he can really flatten out and put pace on the ball. The wins over Nadal/Djokovic @ Dubai 2008 are good examples of this.
@BrotherTree1 in Miami against Rafa though he was playin more like a powerplaying Federer imagine that Roddick vs the best of Fed, that'd be fun to watch
@Deadeye287 yeah, just like the good old days of 2004. If it were, then it would be a close one like their history back in 2004 and a bit of 2006, but i'd still tip Fed to edge through. Even though Roddicks pretty darn good when hes on full flight, i'd take Feds repertoire anyway.

Watch tennis before you comment on it.

@dwilliams02
roddick's serve is still the best, the motion is at least,
he's a better server than isner querrey and karlovic, he just doesnt get as many aces
Currymastuh 1 year ago
Allways admired Roddick because of his sheer determination and grit. Like in the 5th set of the final he just kept battling, but the magician that is federer kept the pressure on and then Roddick being exhausted after playing 2 long matches shanked the ball on the last to give fed the championship.

@v8superstars
i dont think roddick was tired, he jsut mishit the ball, it happens
unfortunately it happened on match point

i hate how the commentators are always supporting the british guy, and always saying how great he is, and always slagging off the other guy (in this case roddick). They dont seem to comment on what awsome shots roddick did. roddick to win wimbledon this year (:
Freddongg 1 year ago
@Freddongg cos andrew castle is a fucking amateur!! and plus roddick played far better shots than murray, they were instinctive and shots you wold trust roddick to make. murray is just a jammy twat, and needs to stop being such a cocky twat whenever he plays a good shot. the fact is ignore the support and just realise that if ur playing bad its ur fault. plus roddick is very underrated, he still pulls out the stops
weatherallc05 8 months ago
@weatherallc05 totally agree.. Shame Roddick is out already haha ;)
Freddongg 8 months ago
@Freddongg i knowwwww, to some unseeded guy aswell. roddick has lost it?
weatherallc05 8 months ago
@weatherallc05 not sure if he's lost it quite yet... well that's what I like to believe anyway...

magic outta nowhere from roddick at 3:00. i cant believe commentators said it was a mishit. fuck off, it was not - he actually put that sideward top spin on it by hitting it like a mini slice smash but with his racquet head low down. it was a smart play.
BrotherTree1 1 year ago
@BrotherTree1 It was a mishit in the sence that the direction was not where he intended.

In the old days, before power became so dominant in tennis, there were such things as touch, finesse and even tactics. So nowadays, when people talk about a player "pushing", they mean that he doesn't try to murder the ball on every stroke. As if that was the only way to play.
newmark401 1 year ago
Murray played like shit, he is too defensive on the biggest matches of his career so far.. like Lendl was at the beginning before he learned how to win
the reason why alot of ppl hype Murray is because they see what he is capable of when he hammers the ball, look how he cleaned Nadal out in Aussie Open quarters, but in the final v federer what did he do? went back to tentative cat and mouse play.
Mirren81 1 year ago
@Mirren81 I understand where you are coming from but comparing Murray to Lendl is a poor comparison. Someone like Mecir would be a lot better to compare with Murray as they both have that similar type of feel game.
The reason why he reverted back to his "cat and mouse" type of game, is because clearly that is his type of game, he can't help it. Like Murray has said himself, Roger and Rafael play completely different. Murray's game matches up well against Nadal like Hewitt years ago.

@Mirren81
yeh..murray is too defensive in big matches, but thats his natural game i guess..to be a counter puncher..
he will learn to change in time..he's only 23!! i see him winning slams in the future...probably wimbledon because he will have MASSIVE HOME CROWD ADVANTAGE on centre court..which counts for alot in big matches.
AlphaDraconis7 1 year ago
@AlphaDraconis7 hes made to play offensive as when his opponents become really aggressive and mixing it up, murrays fucked.
BrotherTree1 1 year ago
@AlphaDraconis7 a great player proves that home court advantage doesnt mean that MASSIVE. fed vs agassi US Open 2005.

that's my favorite tennis player. andy roddick is a true champion!
iwituazon10 1 year ago
Oh come on let's get real. Anyone who thinks Murray is capable of winning 5+ slams is living in a dream world. He doesn't have the game to be competing deep at slams because he plays too defensive. Guys aren't going to miss in slam semi's and finals and are on form. Playing defensive will work in the early rounds but not against the guys who are feeling it.

7:07 - 7:18 My favorite moment of the match. Then after, when he stopped on the stairs in the locker room and kneeled down. Incredible

WTF, is it cool to hate Murray or something?
Look at the comments of ANY vid of where he's playing and 90% of people say he's a cunt.
Fact is, he's a great player, and you guys have NO IDEA whether or not he's a cunt off the court so the amount of hate he gets is just baffling to me. Totally irrational.

Murray played that game with his bad nerve. He was obsessed with his mistakes and the hope of England was on his shoulder.

just realized that when roddick is fueled with adrenaline, he plays like federer.
BrotherTree1 2 years ago 20

Deadeye287 1 year ago
@Deadeye287 yeah, just like the good old days of 2004. If it were, then it would be a close one like their history back in 2004 and a bit of 2006, but i'd still tip Fed to edge through. Even though Roddicks pretty darn good when hes on full flight, i'd take Feds repertoire anyway.
