  • OH SO YOUR THE MOTHERF989R WHOS VOICE I HEARD IN ATHENES THEORY OF EVERYTHING. Great job. Really.

  • this is fkin amazing ezily subscribed gna watch the rest

  • But I can imagine someones face completely... haha! :P - No but I get your point if you are not aware of something... like say a God... then you would believe their was not a god, and be atheist because they have never managed to contact a god or spiritual entity.

  • hey interesting videos, i have always been interested in the way our brain and thoughts work and how we can control them to better our lives. My brithday is coming up this month and i want to ask my family to get me some books to read, do you have any reccomendations ? i want to learn more about what you have explained in all your videos, surely you had to start somewhere and most likely it was reading books.. let me know what you learned from, thanks.

  • Excellent!

  • I'm subscribing

  • This is so deep, great work Reese. These videos may not be touching millions of viewers necessarily, but I want you to know that you've made a massively positive impact in my own life. If that's not enough motivation for you to continue making your extremely insightful videos, then I'm out of ideas. Please keep this work going and I truly hope that you will be reimbursed generously someday for your hard work.

  • I think this has been described by Robert Anton Wilson in Cosmic Trigger I, a book he wrote in 1977 hehe. The concept described by him is called "reality tunnels" and it's very similar, imo, to what you are describing here. Interesting that neuroscience is discovering now what people seem to have known for a long time :)

  • Relevant quote; "If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things through narrow chinks of his cavern.", William Blake. Question is why did we close ourselves up? What trauma did we suffer that made us react and create the ego as a defence mechanism?

  • subjective reality is a good way to start looking at it. consider this however. everything you think you know is really a concept in your mind. the idea of a cup or chair, the understanding of words, the recognition of emotions and reactions in others. all of these things occur as concepts first before anything, and knowing that, how can we KNOW they are truly the way things are. we are programed to see things a certain way from the day we are born yet we are all just atoms and light. one love:)

  • Reese, your and Chiren's research is actually fascinating.

  • I don't understand, can I accept that my fundamental sense of reality is subjective? A dog will never understand algebra, just like human beings will never understand reality and there actual existence in this solar system/galaxy, universe. So you think this is the starting point for society? Myself I have a much different view on where the starting point is or I should actually say was.

  • And everyone was making fun of me while I was telling them I don't care about what they think for they are the projections of my mind :D

  • its friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday, friday

  • dude u have some awesome hair

  • You helped me understand how i act, thank you very much.

  • who's music is at the end of the vid?

  • I thought people were a little lopsided these days o.O

  • HMmm, what boggles me is, how can we accept that our fundemental reallity is subjective...since every reallity, is actually subjective.

  • wow.....so i would not be able to imagine one half of someones face and i wouldn't even know it?? so how do i know that i even have this problem?? this is verrrrryyyy confusing and boggles my mind!!

  • I believe in this same theory as well, also in my own mind i feel that sometimes i am not that great, but then you get people out there that look at an outside image of my knowledge and doings, and say that i myself is a genius. i guess because i tend to study in areas that others around me believe to be hard, when in reality anyone open can learn those ideas and things.

  • I'd love to hear your opinion on the zeigeist movement, the venus project, their pros and cons....

  • please explain in your own/simple words :)

  • Go Reese! Keep it up! You are doing great work!

  • MOAR!

  • Reesus, always providing us with enlightening, thought provoking information. Thank you so much, your vlogs, blogs and forum posts are AMAZING! Keep up the great work!

  • @mmhmmm2 thx bro :)

  • this guy just watched a TED talk on youtube.

    end of story.

  • @atmark666 lol yea right...

  • @atmark666 Would love to see a TED talk that deals with this exact stuff, haven't seen it yet (and I'm a big TED fan), link me if you've seen it.

  • @reese015

hey, i hope you did not get mad.

i did not say your video is exact copy of the TED talk. OK?

i think it was Indian neurologist, Vilayanur Ramachandran.

  • @atmark666 Ramachandran is the shit!

  • @reese015

    yeah, you bet it is.LOL

  • Reese? can u try and zoom out ur camera a little bit so we can actually see ur entire head :)

  • @schpyy But I look so charismatic up close!

  • As always great video.

  • @ImStereotype thx bro :)

  • Keep on doing the great vids Reese, and see what you can do about me coming to stay with you fools under the guise of pro game training, im pro enough as it is i just wanna help you guys with ipower and neuroscience

  • OMFG MY DOG IS AN IMPOSTOR

    WHY :(

  • you sound better in surround sound & your hair reminds me of noodles

  • I think the information is very good and well thought out, but I feel that your phrasing is distracting from what you're saying. I felt that way about the documentary as well. I try to let it go, but I have a hard time with it.

  • You're completely right, and I have to say that I have had strikingly similar thoughts and conclusions about this before. But I don't necessarily agree that simply going against one's nature and trying to be more genuinely interested in what other's have to say will cause them to adapt, it is because we are all trying to impose our subjective-isolated reality on others and they the same that we are stuck in this zerosum game and I don't think changing that is easy, unfortunately.

  • I LOVE YOU

  • no its not

  • what do you work with?

  • @skogzor I work with a blender, I work with a vacuum cleaner,...

  • @reese015 You mean you use Blender 3D software to make videos? Because your mention of vacuum cleaner confuse me.

  • <3

  • Great video!

  • If someone told me that I had been in an accident and that i couldnt imagine the right side of people's faces (and i didnt remember such a thing, or notice that i couldnt imagine someones right side), I would ask for proof or an explanation of some sort, while all the while trying to imagine the right side of someones face. I would probably start trying to imagine someones whole body and fail entirely, since i cant recall every little detail and im not the kind of person to wing it.

  • I imagine Gods voice to sound the way yours does

  • Love these. Keep them coming!

  • Comment removed

  • I've been telling people for many years now, that the world would be a much better place if everybody just looked at things the same way I do. :-D

  • I NEED MORE!

  • ABRAHAM!!!!!!!!

  • Narrator voice FTW. Awesome vlog too.

  • isn't it considered narcissism to think we have a better grasp on reality than everyone else?

  • @Killable1337 we don't have better grasp on reality, it's just different and unique.

  • mind blowing

  • 3:07 In this context, is it really a notion of having a better grip on 'reality' or just on the matter at hand? Opinions are based on bias and knowledge of the subject being opinionated. Therefore, is it fair to directly link that to our grip/ view on reality?

  • intriguing, thank's Reese.

  • I Think this is the reason for why people have different personalities.

  • Also (to people in the comments), I would not say that reality IS our counciousness, even if we can only "see" it trough perceptions that are in our brain. If our counciousness is the sum of our brain neuronal activities, this includes perceptions, and these must be provoked by something outside us, because if not, they would not be perceptions. Even in the matrix, what people perceive IS something : real binar informations from real computers who run the program called the matrix.

  • This might be a little off-topic but where's Ian? Haven't seen him on the new Athene videos :/

  • My mind has been officially blown

  • If openmindness means accepting any opinion because our reality is different, I'm not sure I agree with this, but I'll stay openminded. But it's also important to criticize. What do you say about, let's say... mathematics? Everyone can understand maths even if our reality is different ! (Except for severe brain damaged people, children, etc.) Therefore I think these differences between our counciousness are pretty small. Let's not go crazy about that.

  • you just blew my mind

  • Holy mother fucking shit. GREAT video man.

  • Stuff I wonder about all the time! Pretty rad to see you go in-depth about it:)

  • So everyone has a differently wired consciousness which brings about their own unique reality into this one world we live in?

So reality is actually consciousness? And consciousness is actually what we perceive as reality?

I went dizzy thinking about that.

  • It can also be a result of watching too much TV, since almost all TV shows and movies involve actors. For example, any movie we watch on TV showing a mother and daughter, those two people are actually not related, they are actors.

Apparently the disorder Reese refers to is a result of someone watching way too much TV, and most likely they are believing too much TV as if it's really true, when it's not.

  • NO! FUCK PRO ACTIV THEY RUINED MY FACE!

    this makes total sense.

    ONE LOVE.

  • This owns !

  • We live in the Matrix! lol Great vlog Reese!

  • reese producing music?

souds interesting. definetly gonna follow this

  • I was half listening until you said that I wasn't listening. What I heard after that was quite profound, I'll have to think on that one a bit. Thanks for sharing.

  • your voice makes me want to do things.

  • intresting vlog, but the real question is how you dare to balance that laptop behind you!?

  • It doas not matter if you eat shit or candy, you are in reality just eating bunch of atoms.

  • :P Awesome vlog. i agree with terrait, please make more vlogs like this one. XD

  • I would love to know your shoe size reese

  • Wait... How did you go from being Abraham the rapist, to Reese the scientist?

  • r u high?

  • wow Reese, really deep and interesting vlog, 3:40 blew me away, your brother and you are both awesome in these kind of vids, keep them coming!

  • Respect from Lithuania

  • You are a Human being that i Respect.... Hi from Dominican Republic Keep it up :D

  • Hurrrrrr

  • reese where is ian now?

  • GREAT video.

  • Interesting, but does all that stuff really matter? In the end we can be happy just by doing what we want.

So we just need to neuroplasticite our desires into things that we can easily achieve.

  • @Manji14 We could, but i guess somewhere deep we will know, that this is not the real target that we reached for. And by the way, we really MUST do things that we want to, that's the meaning of life, i guess... One more thing, have you ever noticed how time "changes it's speed" depending of the level of interest in action, that we are doing at the moment.?? maybe that's the secret of immortality)))

  • You're making a strange voice... are you RP-ing here, Abraham?

  • I'm really interested in the issues this video brings up, but tell me, where does Chuck Norris come in to all of this?

  • reese is a troll

  • so difficult to understand :o

  • Great video

  • SDA vlog 1? Looking forward to the next already :)

  • i would so love it if you would make these kind of vlogs more often

  • @terrait I will.

  • Very interesting. :)

  • I love your vlogs. Man, you are awesome.

  • @lomonosov31 I love you.

  • @reese015 I love your sister! Wonder if a Furious pickup line would work *think*

  • There is no spoon.

  • @neowahneowah hahaha, nice :P

  • @neowahneowah There is in my reality. Can't argue with that bro BAM WHATCHA GONNA SAY NOW.

  • @reese015

Your spoon is a lie. Ha!

  • @reese015 I'm gonna say that in my reality there is no such thing like your reality! BOOM!) Now, seriously, I'm 15, and I've started to think about this stuff like half a year ago) Basically, when I watch your videos, when I watch Athene's theory of everything, all I see is evidences of me being correct. I really care about this theme, and you guys are helping me a lot. Thank you for your work. My question is, is there a proof, that everybody is not "NPC's"? I mean, is everything real? thank you

  • @gogaPK as real as you think it is. there is no correct answer, unless you seek it in religion and bias.

  • @aap998 i thought of that) but this conclusions is followed by one more thing. if I think everything is not real, am I real?

  • @gogaPK why would you think that? im not a deep philosopher, but after all, we are all humans and if theres one thing in common to all of us, is that we all think we are real. and i have no objections to make to that, because its all i've ever known.

  • @aap998 but how did you find it out? who told you, that you are real? where did you get that information from? basically, if you think that it's a fundamental truth, axiom, why do you think so then? is there any fundamental truths?

  • @gogaPK trust your instincts. although it is known to us that our perception of reality is far from perfect, the most reasonable thing for us to do is to trust the most fundamental instincts, the ones everyone is born with. don't forget that truth and reality are two things that exist by definition. all we humans can do is merely grasp a bit of the "ultimate reality", by discovering and unveiling the nature of our world.

  • @aap998 thank you)

  • @gogaPK There's no proof. You can say that you realise your own existence and that makes you real, but to be quite honest, that is far from the truth. I could get a program to say it, but that doesn't make it self-aware.

In my reality, the whole world is a product of my mind, and I'm living through it to enhance my views on everything.

  • @Treekodar thank you.

  • @reese015 But in your reality you think you're correct. But in everyone else's reality you're just some Orca Whale dreaming in Sea World.

  • 3rd

  • 3e

  • Everything You Know is Wrong: Aww, that's not nice :P

  • @Treekodar Actually, it kinda is!

  • eerste
