Wow! You did such an amazing job with this piece! it's one of my favorite cello concertos! You did really well in your solo performance especially for a first time performing it and you have such a beautiful vibrato! Keep it up! Sustain your first few chords though in the very beginning! =)
I feel that you dont have your own style of playing this concerto. The 1st movement is pretty easy technically however to find your inner sound is really important so that when you perform it doesnt sound bland and with no emotion.
And BTW!!!!! DO NOT play WITH the piano. Remember, the piano is there only to accompany you. I felt that the places where you could have taken some time express, the piano was leading and you were following.
@snowking0215 i had to play wit piano....it was for a class. i just performed it wit the orchestra in april and it was wayyyy better... put more emotion in it also lol. thanks for the feedback! i definitely worked on it more and got things soundin much more musical
Dude you rock, keep it up! Those opening chords are some of the best I've heard!
Fun thing you could try - my teacher as a kid had huge hands (as do you) - he could play the entire main themes (the one starting on F#-G-F#-A-B-A and the one starting E-F#-E-G-A-G) using only extensions, no shifting at all - if you can play it like that it really stands out, because most people really slide around a lot in those sections
I'm gonna try to get some solo stuff posted soon...someday...
Pretty good opening! Some spots need lots of focus on pitch and bow control in general; hold on to certain notes slightly longer--make really good use of the bow, especially in the climactic sections and slow it down if you have to, like the runs that go into the stratosphere--practice the shit out of them!!! Great sense of natural musicality and feeling for the piece, just make it come out. I'm sure nerves interfered bc of the audience. Nice overall, and lovely cello, btw, bright!
Not bad at all my friend. I've only heard about you (ALOT!) from Kelsey but I must say I feel like I know you. Nice work on the Elgar, that's my favorite cello concerto... yes, even above the Dvorak! If you've never heard the Jacqueline du Pre and Daniel Barenboim recording you haven't lived! Nice to have finally seen you in action, again keep up the good work!
This is so gorgeous! You are very talented!! Don't give it up! I'm a pianist, so I know REAL music when I see it :)

@jpcello11 By "do not play with the piano", he means don't follow it. We all do understand that you need a piano to accompany.

@weezl007
Actually there are a few shifts - I just got out the old music
Try (on A string) 121x2324211 (D string) 431312321211 (G string) 421212421211 (C string) 43 (G string) 1
I'll see if I can figure out the second one, writing is a little sketchy
