Porsche and VW are the leaders in double clutch automated gearboxes...BMW and Mercedes are just copies....and when these for the BMW went down (and sure one day they will) they cost a fortune to repair or replace....leaving the owner with clean pockets
I think you're right about launch control beeing slower. If you apply the correct amount of throttle to avoid wheel spin you will generally reach top speed faster.
yeh man it does, however i find that by not using the launch control the 0-60 time is less than that using the launch control. i think that the wheelspin and the traction control kicking in costs it a few seconds...
w7dawe335i - Unless your 335i is a DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) you will be unable to do Launch Control
trasy1979 - I take it your DCT is a 335i? Look at page 64 of your manual when you get your car. ps accelerator has to be pushed down quite hard to acivate the launch control

@jeomars you have some reading to do bro. BorgWarner is the supplier for VW, and the GTR (which always had issues)
Getrag builds the dual clutch gearboxes for BMW, Ferrari, Benz, Renault, the mitsu EVO X, etc...
now which one would you rather have?

@graybogey please read comment directed at w7dawe335i. If this applies then read p64 of your in car manual or follow instructions in the comments.

Just incase -
Process for Engaging Launch Control
1. Turn on Dynamic Traction Control (DTC)
2. Put in "sport" mode (located at gear stick)
3.Enagae "M1" (knock Gear Stick to the Left)
4. Foot on Brake
5. Push accelerator hard (Revs should build up to approx 5000 rpm and a chequered flag should appear on the dash).

@rustler86 - If you have an 09 335i, it's a Steptronic, which is a single clutch. The DCT is only available in the 2011 335is, not a 335i.
