can you post the La Donna and the Possente Amor, assuming he did it? - What a wonderful find for me- greatest , most versatile tenor of my generation [ or any i dare say ] honest to the composers intention always , his 'squillo' is extraordinary- just magnificent- probably what joe green had in mind when he wrote this 2 duet ensemble
oops...clicked the wrong button. Who could possibly dislike this performance? Gedda is fabulous as he was till his last day of singing...but Joan? OMG!!!!
BTW, the very excellent mezzo in this clip is Mildred Miller. A MET mainstay for many years, Miller had a beautiful, well-produced voice of medium size, great clarity and flexibility with a wide range of color at her command. She, herself was a hallmark of musicality, versatility and musicianship. One of the best all-around singers America has ever produced, she remains, as during her lengthy career, one of its most underrated.
@RVP57 I was not aware of 'importance' in the hair department as pertained to La Miller. I do remember, however, that, at least as far as the hair of the men onstage went, 'commanding' was an adjective she always wanted to be able to use (but was usually disappointed not to find any hair thusly to describe; at least not with a convincing enthusiasm.)
@celticears I was making a joke in reference to her high 60s up-dos. I remember seeing her on Bell Telephone Hour with ENORMOUS hair. The higher the hair, the closer to God....
@RVP57 ANd I understood completely. I was referring to the time I overheard her backstage at something or other I had directed telling the baritone that he looked 'OK, but your hair . . . It needs to be more . . . commanding.'
I have seen a number of excerpts from this program (on YouTube and elsewhere). Is the complete program available anywhere? I know that a number of Bell Telephone and Firestone videos are available.

I know of Mildred Miller, but had never seen her before. I couldn't agree more with your assessment of her talent.
Thank you.

What a quartet! Bravi! I believe this is from 1968, Bell Telephone Hour. It's a shame we do not have these programs any longer.
