Also, he still continued to share details of the crime with police officers on his way to prison! As for DNA, absence of it doesn't prove innocence and presence of it doesn't necessarily prove guilt (step-father,etc.) They took the Alford Plea which means there is enough reasonable evidence that they would be found guilty,

He confessed once, at the end of a 12 hour interrogation and despite his statement being full of completely inaccuracies it's the only piece of "evidence" that exists for their guilt.

I was born a year after the WM3 were locked up. I have been supporting for a while now after seeing an episode about them on TV. I think the thing that made me support them so much was the fact that I'm around the age they were when they were convicted. I can't imagine being convicted of a murder I didn't commit, let alone three and then FINALLY being released after 18 years. Even though it was a day late, this was an awesome birthday present in a way.

@whiteej21 you don't confess over and over, even after you've been convicted. Yes, there was a post-conviction confession (against his attorney's advice). Also, he still continued to share details of the crime with police officers on his way to prison! As for DNA, absence of it doesn't prove innocence and presence of it doesn't necessarily prove guilt (step-father,etc.) They took the Alford Plea which means there is enough reasonable evidence that they would be found guilty,

He confessed once, at the end of a 12 hour interrogation and despite his statement being full of completely inaccuracies it's the only piece of "evidence" that exists for their guilt.

@Bvtterfly78 In the article you're quoting it actually explains the plea they took, the Alford plea, allows the person to not admit to an act and assert innocence.

The wm3, in a plea deal, admitted that they killed the 3 boys.
The defendants by acknowledging there was sufficient evidence towards guilt pretty much destroyed the supporter efforts to dismiss the evidence. All these years of back & forth between "nons" & "supporters" arguing about if there was sufficient evidence only to have the 3 convicted admit there was.
These 3 have confessed their way right out of prison thanks to you supporters. You helped free 3 child killers. You must be very proud?

The Wikipedia page on the wm3 says they just signed a Albford plea...The VERY FIRST line of the Alford plea Wiki page says...drum roll : "An Alford plea in United States law is a guilty plea in criminal court where the defendant does NOT admit the act and asserts innocence." ...hmmmm

I was born a year after the WM3 were locked up. I have been supporting for a while now after seeing an episode about them on TV. I think the thing that made me support them so much was the fact that I'm around the age they were when they were convicted. I can't imagine being convicted of a murder I didn't commit, let alone three and then FINALLY being released after 18 years. Even though it was a day late, this was an awesome birthday present in a way.

I feel for both Jason and Damien. I feel awful for those two boys. Nearly 1/2 of their life taken away from them because West Memphis decided to revisit the witch trials of Salem and have it backed up by terrible police work. Even if they're set free, their lives have been absolutely ruined by this terrible excuse for justice.

@HagSIN Ridiculous. Execute. Or even better, don't execute. Commute to a life sentence. Damien stated that he doesn't want a life sentence vice lethal injection. Why on Earth would anyone reject the offer of life? The reason is that a life term would put him in general population, where he'd be subject to the very brutality that he inflicted on three 8 year old boys. Damien doesn't like to be the victim of unimaginable brutality, he likes to be the inflictor of it.

@CrusaderEmber You OBVIOUSLY need to do your research on not only the psychological impacts of life in prison vs a death sentence (Many non violent lifers still would rather die) but also the regulations for placement of inmates at facilities. People found guilty of a crime against a child go to a segregated unit NOT gen pop. Oh and by the way, there is a hole heap of NEW evidence surfacing...... They are innocent, and science will prove it!
