I am 39 and remember bumping this when I was about 17/18. I think I just graduated from high school in 1989 and her cassette tape sold out at the local record store lmao. I loved the whole cassette. Man...this brings back serious memories: Michel'le, Sharon Bryant, Vesta Williams, Midnight Star, Leotis lol....I am seriously stuck in that era.
@royalcoils100 lol! if you're 35 now, then you need to stop lying about how old you were when this song came out! are you sure you were in 6th grade...cuz I bought this cd when I was in 9th grade..and we're about the same age. lol! just messin cha
Haven't heard that jam in a long time, I always thought it had a little bit a freestyle sound to it as well as R&B. She had a decent debut CD where she wrote and produced all the songs on the album. My favorite song on the CD Love At Dawn, that was cold a@! slow jam.
U got that Tim Westwood too, I still have it he says sum like " THE SOUNDS OF SUMMER.....Toys for the Boys" thats 89 fam when he was Capitol Radio.....grew p in Lewisham fam now in Toronto....
Yeah I remember, her video debut on Video Soul with Donnie Simpson, around in mid April of 1989. When people heard it on the radio, they thought she was Karen White.
The second album is great--only eight tracks, but solid. For some reason she changed the spelling of her name for that one--shortened it to "Ann G." Anyway, "All I See is You" and "Get A Life" are amazing uptempo tracks that will get you out on the dance floor. "Heroes" is a gorgeous ballad. I love the dry, crackly quality of her voice, the ache in it. Karyn White is probably the closest comparison. If you like Ann G., check out Nicki Richards, also on Atlantic in 1991.
this is one of my favorite singers i have both her cds she is from atl i wonder if she still lives there and if she sings still my favorite song from the 1st cd... was making love at dawn! man that is still my favorite slow jams, on the 2nd cd hassle free, one step closer and get a life i still bump those songs too...Ann G was a great artist and both cds bumped
The 1st Time i Saw Anne G.'s Video "If She Knew", It Was Monday March 6th 1989. I Saw Her Video On Soulbeat At That Time, And I For 1 Was A 15 Years Old Teenager. I Tell You, Anne G. Made My Heart Beat Fast, Blew My Mind And Took My Breath Away. When She Was Wearing Her Beautiful Black Shiny Shoes Along With Her Gorgeous Black Socks On Her Healthy Pretty Feet, It Was Heaven On Earth. I Loved It! From: Spruill605.
Don't Get Me Wrong On This One. I Except & Love Anne G. For What She Was & Who She Was. Not For What She Had On Her Healthy Feet. She For 1 Has A Cool Singing Voice, & A clean Sense Of Humor. From: Spruill605.
as much play as this song got, it should've been the boost the album needed... thanx for clearing up that it was April 89, I knew it had to be either the summer of 88 or 89....I was 15 when this song came out...
Anne G's album(cd) "On A Mission" arguably could have been the best R&B album(cd) of 1989. It didn't receive the acclaim that it should've received, tight songs on it like this one of course!!
I remember one day back in 1989 I was walking through my neighborhood and heard four cars bumping this song in less than fifteen minutes! Great song, brings back memories.
Everybody's looking for the 'On A Mission' album. It's out of print, and nothing on Ebay. The song "Love's Here" is one of my favorites. Any way you could post that one? Ann G. is really difficult to find.
The first cd entitled, Anne G "On A Mission" does have the song "If She Knew" on it. I have the cd but I'm not sure how I could get a copy of it to you.
You have Anne G's 2nd CD? I have been looking everywhere for it. I finally managed to find the first one but the 2nd one is so difficult to find. How can I get a copy?
Aaw. Does the first CD have this song on it? If so, how can I get a copy from you? I've been looking for this song for years. Most people don't even know who Anne G is.
this song was out when I was having a fling with one of my ex-wife's friends, thanks anne g for a great song and thank you doris for some great memories
I actually saw her perform this in 90, at a water park, or something...There's really no reason why she didn't blow up....anyway, brings back memories.
She released a 2nd album in 1991. Not as popular but still had some good tracks. I think she is working more on the production side of music. She actually produced and played keyboards on her first album.
it came out in 1989, I remember because it came out during the time of my 10th birthday.
