It doesnt acclimatise you any quicker, it's actually counterproductive to go up by lift, better to yomp up nice and steady, you can't rush acclimatisation, it's a process that happens at its own pace
No but the walking up takes longer out of your day, which you can spend resting and acclimatising, keeping strength and energy for a summit attempt. It's just the way we chose to do it, with only a week at the mountain, to maximise our summit chances.
Fair one - we were there for 2 weeks, so had a lot more time on the hill. One of the reasons I don't like some guided climb companies, they rush the schedule, and thats never a good thing on big mountains. Well done for summitting anyway.
