  • @Clivebarker88 LMAOOO right? XD

  • Consoling words, 8bloc! Latest fake 'literary' example Erin Morgenstern with an amateur re-hash of Harry Potter fantasy treacle. Monster PR for dead formula, nothing but silence for the rest of 'the list.' To hell with them. Readers live. Check out ANCIENT LIGHTS dot o-r-g or jackdempseywriter.wordpress dot c-o-m . And cheers to every serious pen. Find ways to reach your own audience.

  • Yeah, right! Get to know an already famous published writer, and ask them to refer you past the guarded gate to an agent. So I guess you really start by crashing into high-end cocktail parties and groveling. Yeah, that works! This is nothing but a measure of how CLOSED publishing and agents are to anything but the incestuous insider system. Which of course explains why publishing is dying, as they invest in nothing but shit from their idiot friends.

  • @37Dionysos Damn....ur actually right. Harsh. But you should write a book on that ALONE.

  • That man is amazing!

  • Well, I don't know any published authors who have writen within the same general theme as I, and I don't have any previous publishing success stories. So is there no hope for me????

  • Some of the best advice for unpublished writers I have seen so far.

  • Thank you, Sir. This is very helpful.

  • I would love to know how does one BECOME a literary agent

  • This is good information, but I would like to know how I can bypass agents and publishers altogether. I want to self publish my own work and market it myself.

  • @blueBlackpurple Don't do it! It's very easy to have your book self publish, but you will have to market the book, edit the book, and you will not be happy. This should be your last resort! I have completed my first book, and I just received my first rejection letter. It's not over, I am still going to submit another query letter to another agent until I have something published. Anyway, good luck to you.

  • @coolduder10 A rejection letter? That's only a sign you are on your way to greatness!! Good luck and blessings to you!

  • @kattwin1 Thanks, but the good news is.... two rejection letters within a week! Now, I have decided to revise the word count and query! Then, we will see what happens within the next three to four weeks!

  • @coolduder10

Try to hit them right in the eye. Which dialogue your character speak that could give you goosebump. Oh yeah, side note: agents worship character-based fiction with Show Don’t Tell policy. Example: ‘Mike opened the door and smelled something funny’ is a big no. Try, ‘Mike opened the door and sniffed.’

  • Great info.

  • Thankyou for this. It helped me alot.

  • Thank you for posting, it's what we newbies need to hear. I never considered approaching another author that's an interesting one.

  • @Floorsnarl Don't be nasty; it was very useful
