  • The song is called "La Concha" or "The seashell" and it is a Venezuelan song, here is an old version:

  • Just to confirm that she is Venezuelan, playing a cuatro, and the form of music is a corrío, which comes from the verb "correr", to run, so the name kind of refers to how the verses flow one after another: justa s Mexican corrido has one verse after another without a chorus to break things up.

Venezuela presente en todas partes! (Venez. everywhere!)

  • I met her like 3 years ago here in Venezuela, she had a gig on this pizza place and she got in an argue with an anoying girl on a wheel chair cause she was complaining about the loud of the music lol shes no bullshit, full of talent, all attitud. Shes with a traditonal venezuelan instrument, the "cuatro", she told me she could rock with one, i had to see it to belive it... she was fucking rigth!!!

    my best wishes to her.

  • You're also mistaken on her nationality... she's not peruvian but venezuelan

  • haa! great how the friend does put the cash in the case.

  • My dear Friend EVA :) GIRL ! ! ! So nice to see your face and hear that beautiful voice of yours ! ! ! This clip reminds me of " the good old days " I sure loved singing with you. Congrats on all of your success ! ! ! Love you Jilly Bean

  • Is sad that most of the peopple don´t know who Yva las vegas is, she was member and/or lead vocals on sweet 75, with Krist Novoselic, legendary nirvana Bass player!

  • God I love Seattle, especially Pike Place Market, I will be going there later this month and can't wait.

Awesome video, thanks for posting this little piece of treasure.

  • this is what musicians have to do pure dedication awesome singer

  • The song is called: La Concha or Gaita MArgariteña (:

  • She actually spells her name Yva Las Vegass and she has a web presence.

  • Thanks. Message me the link if you have it.

  • Well, I'd like to clarify the fact that the song Yva is singing is not an Andean song,as the caption of the video says. that is a traditional folk song from the east-center of Venezuela, and it's commonly called "corrío" and I doubt that there'd be a possible translation in English

  • Thanks for the information. I will update the description.

  • shes Yva Las Vegas. I started listening to her because she was a member of Sweet 75 with Nivarna bassist Krist Novoselic in 1997. they were going to produce another album in 2000 but didn't in the end because of "musical differences". There first album is really good though, you could get it on Amazon or something. Its self-titled.

  • Thanks for the information. It is appreciated.

  • I just created a video of one of her pieces, listen carefully

  • I have a couple full length songs of hers..pretty good.. i think they are done in a recording studio. I'm not even sure if she has albums out for sale? i looked...

  • All of what I know of her I have learned from people commenting on this video.

  • she sells cds out of her quatro case

she is such a good singer, too bad this recording is so rough

    thanks for posting it

  • aw bless her! that was great! thanks for filming and uploading for us :)

    FX^

  • You are very welcome. She is an amazing performer.

  • She is a great live performer and one of the most interesting people I have ever met- it's spelled Yva

  • There is a documentary about her that I attended the first showing of in Seattle. Yva was there & I hope that her music will more accessible in the years to come. She is a gifted musician, bless her.

  • Not to demean street musicians or anything, but she's kind of sunk far from singing and playing bass in a rock band with Krist Novoselic, hasn't she?

  • I actually prefer the raw real quality of music like this. I have never heard any of the music she did with him but people have told me it is good.

  • her name is yva las vegass. she is a close family friend, and played with sweet 75 who was a band formed by a nirvana member.

  • Thank you very much. I felt blessed to have been able to hear her play and sing that day in the market--she is an amazing performer.

  • Bellisima interpretacion, muy sentida, GRACIAS!!!

  • well, it is andean music but not perubean, its venezuelan... so is she... my aunt btw :)

  • Thanks for the info. She is extremely talented and passionate.

  • She also sang as the frontwoman for Sweet 75 that boasted Krist Novoselic from Nirvana as a member. I hope she's ok financially.

  • This performers name is Eva Las Vegas (I'm not sure if I spelled it right or not, it my be with a Yva). She's great. I'm not sure where she is now but sang with Children of the Revolution for a while, a Seattle based World Music group.

  • Very cool! Thanks for the info--I'll add it to the description.
