  • The only problem I can see here is that another planet rotating when rotating camera on planet's surface :P

  • what is that called when you make a planet in agame that has a leaveable atmospher

  • @2centthompson its called atmospheric transition

  • Take my money!

  • fantastic

  • looks like crap

  • Hi

  • I want the Serenity as a playable ship.

  • Game engines are a pain in the ass.

I've tried others like Unity, DirectX Studio, GameStudio... the list goes on. The bottom line is that programming your own engine is the best way to go.

If the engine is very fast and flexible, chances are you'll have to suffer from no documentation.

Writing your own version of something that "acts" as an engine is way less gay than writing something gay like an engine, or using engines that bring not enough help.

    Write games raw.

    -Anti-Engine Team.

  • @GameEnginesAreGay Cool story bro.

  • @GameEnginesAreGay Why do you copy and paste this into any video you come across?

  • @MultiObligation Because hes trolling and want's to get as many arguments as possible.

  • Hell they should of used this for the Star Wars MMO

  • Super hiper mega duper zuper sandbox game :D

  • WHEN THE FUCK IS COMING OUT!?!?!?!

  • @siryouareaterd it's an engine. not a

  • @Sevival no it is actually a game. The Infinity Engine you are speaking of is maybe 10+ years old and was used on several of Biowares AD&D PC games such as Baldurs Gate and BG II. Search google for "Infinity Universe" and you'll find a homepage for the game which is currently in development

  • @siryouareaterd It comes out between 2013 - 14

  • @siryouareaterd i am cumming but this video is from 2006?!?!?!?!

  • Eu não canso de ver esse demo! Essa engine é simplesmente fantástica!

  • The trick is that they imply the distance is mln miles, but for the computer, there is no difference, it's just how you scale your 3d space. This "super-pooper-technology" is worse than the technology from GTA 3 from 2001.

  • Isn't it actually what GTA does since year 2001? Same streaming to me, except they show you empty space with bald terrains while in GTA they have a lot of different structures and characters moving everywhere. Lame, imho.

  • @HereticDuo

    touche dude

  • add this to halo 6

  • Mind = Blown

  • 2:36 - 2:59 is what happens to you after getting punched by Chuck Norris.

  • @HereticDuo HAHAHAHAHAHAA!

  • For the moment this game is definitely vaporware. It's been in development for so many years that I've literally gone from childhood to like 19 years old now going on 20.

Now they have started a business with the engine, planning to sell it. And development on the game has stopped until they supposedly make a small permanent team to work on infinity.

SO basically, it's vaporware for the time being until it gets a team to work on it.

Either way, I wouldn't bet on seeing this game until ur old

  • I remember watching this a couple years ago and being amazed that it was made a couple years earlier. I watch it now and I'm even more blown away. I just wish the combat prototype would run on my computer :( I should give it another try.

  • Do planets orbit realistically so u have day and night cycles? Static planets ruins the immersion.

  • better than unity 3d

  • Thats such an awesome ending

  • search space engine, you can see every where in our universe. using real data. also its free.

  • spaceengine"."org translate this page with google translate and download the space simulator.

  • >2006

  • does it use procedural tesselation?

  • awesome, always wanted something that lets you go in to space and back to the planet without probs..now....system requirements? ^^

  • I read some stuff about this game, sounds very cool but with only several thousand players per server how on earth would anyone ever find another player lol?

  • i want this game!! i can't wait!!!

  • @hasforjs97 what game

  • very good LOD algorithms. I rarely saw a visible "jump" in detail at all. very impressive!

  • this somehow reminds me of Spores Space Stage, but then the realistic version

    in other words, completely awesome

  • Do you use model swapping or another method? range model activation?

  • whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa uploaded in 2006 0_0

  • the planet looks small. the scale is all wrong. otherwise, impressive.

  • Nice view distance :P

  • so its never coming out and if it does before i die whats the point of it

  • @zwatt10

for the people who are not born yet :P

  • i simply cannot believe this was real-time in 2006. Even now in 2011 it looks like technology years ahead of its time.

  • @Anball2 The 2010 tech video is ASTOUNDING; twice as good as this, if that's possible!

  • Wow, what if Earth had that ringed planet in the sky ;)

  • The planet needs to be a LOT bigger.

  • I'm still not quite sure what a game engine is, can someone please explain to me :)

  • Holy **** that's good. I loved how you went down to the Earth.

  • Nice camera movement.

  • would be awesome to play a superman game with this engine

  • I would absolutely love a Freelancer remake with this engine.

  • Not Tree ??

  • So when's this thing coming out?

  • @MsScrubs Uploaded by 22WRM on Feb 17, 2006

  • @Officially2015

Yeah, but I mean how far along have they come since then?..

Anyway, I just looked at Wikipedia and alpha testing supposedly started in 2010 and a combat prototype was already released, but the MMO is still a work in progress with no official release date yet.

  • Make a space RPG...NOW O_O

  • @Spiritfox06 I was thinking that as that would be pretty epic and have unlimited potential altho it's gonna be at least another 10 years before home PC's could run anything like that lol

  • @TheARMAProductions Dang xP lol

Still waiting for the holodeck =D

  • @TheARMAProductions you never heard of the game eve?

  • @MrBlackspoon I have although I should ellaborate on what I meantmate (keep in mind I have not played Eve). I dream of an all in one game where you have a massive area consisting of 1000's of planets/galazies etc. You will have you're online clans and invade solar systems via fighting in space ships but can also go right down to the spae marine fighting for control over territories on an individual planet. It would be like an RPG, shooter, tactical shooter, strat etc game all in one.

  • looks shiny... but blocky.... textures are not buffed on the edges it seems to me

  • Thin atmosphere

  • Minecraft 2.0

  • @zackhanscom Tell that to 2.1 million people that bought it :3

  • @LionTroy minecraft sucks

  • @LionTroy This game was in development well before Minecraft was

  • @LionTroy I wish.!!!

  • Incredible. Nice work.

  • I vant to have your maths for my babies. Make me something. Good.

  • If you can program the structure to be the same for, say, an MMORPG, so that instead of downloading 50GB of data, you create it on the fly, with no streaming bogging down your internetz, making sure you include audio technology, then make me something where I can build huge building structures on the planet, and I'll definitely be interested in what you have to offer. Not forgetting that we're going to have a population living in light, with forests below. My post on MMORPG.com/Announcement.

  • this is lol material now

  • In 5 years there will be allot of games that have planet scale maps like this.

In 10 years all games will have maps on this scale.

  • The demo looks excellent! Just one note, you shouldn't be able to see the rings of the planet on its dark side :P

  • @cristicbz its not done yet.

  • @cristicbz +1. Another tiny bug - Saturn's rings texture was used inside-out here. ("Cassini Division" should be near outer rings edge.)

  • @cristicbz Yes you can. The light reflected from the atmosphere would cause that. If you were on one of Saturns moons, and could see the dark side of Saturn, you would be close enough to see it...

    Children...You think you know everything.

  • @DangerD205 images(dot)nationalgeographic(dot)com/wpf/media-live/photos/000/011/cache/saturn-rings_1190_600x450.jpg

No need to thank me. In fact, it'll probably save you some embarassment to just not respond.

  • @cristicbz you can actually because the rings distribute and reflect light to all sides of the planet.

  • @cristicbz

    old demo is old.

  • @cristicbz Unless by some rare anomaly the ice refracts the light all the way arround!

  • looks amazing... cool job. looking forward for an interactive demo to run on my pc :)

  • @Thetrutv , are you even joking ?

  • what is a game engine

  • @Thetrutv it builds the game somehow, not sure though how.

  • @Thetrutv Basically a game is composed of several different program files. You have the 3d wire frames, the textures, the effects, the physics, ect. The game engine is the one program that makes the others work together to form the actual game.

  • Cuanta capacidad, que chingon

  • How long did this take to make very nice

  • STFU both of you.If you dont have anything to say about the video then dont say anything.

  • @martin866814

Don't tell the tards to stfu, we'll have no drama then. No drama; no lulz. D:

  • This fucking game is never going to be released, but if it does get released, I will get a major fucking boner and then I will immediately go to the store to buy this.

  • @commandershadebetter

    its not a game retard

  • @XdeathSiNX You know what's funny? You're actually wrong. Talk about a pointless attack that made you look retarded instead. Try again.

Get lost twerp, this a convo for adults anyway.

  • @commandershadebetter

    What a retard.

  • @XdeathSiNX Cool story bro. Go back to special ed. Anyone here can tell you you're wrong. :)

  • it's was made with Neoaxis engine? =O??

  • wow and this was done in 2006,I wonder what it looks like now.

  • @SmallLegacy youtube .com/watch?v=fO7XhaTGDYg .... 2010 =)

  • this is awesome !

why there's not a lot of rogue squadron games on this engine ?

    it would be perfect!

  • Any idea when its coming out?

  • @3tangle3 no clue, but let 'em take their time... it's clearly working. It's been five years since this video was uploaded and the game is still far from finished... so that's saying something about the amount of detail these people are working in.

I really want to give them my money when it launches... I cant imagine not liking this sort of game, if it's going to be as realistic as I hope.

  • Incredible.

  • watch?v=a4qngdF1sYg

  • When it started to close to the Earth I was just "WOW! OMG! Amazing!"

  • You can't bin your own comments anymore?

  • @vapourmile Click on the post you wish to delete, click the upside down driangle right of Reply, and there should be a option to Remove.

  • @DaUnknown124 Lovely. Thanks for that DU124.

  • These demos are looking like the foundation to a game people have been waiting for, well, since before Elite. My only question is, with the Engine looking so good are they going to be able to flesh it out with plot and action?

  • @vapourmile Probably, look at "Crysis 2" - it's pretty impressive with graphics yet it has amazing action gameplay. I honestly think that technology is progressing at such a rate that Infinity will have the potential to keep getting cooler, like EVE. EVE started out as a garage game and now is one of the best space MMOs out there.

  • @DaUnknown124 I agree. The biggie though is Infinity is a procedurally generated universe in which they're thinking of generating the metropolitan structures in the same fashion in order to make the environment absolutely vast. Certainly open-ended, only... so open ended it's perhaps lacking direction?

  • @vapourmile Good one, the players will most likely MAKE a direction. However there is going to be a proceedural quest engine that will allow some minor direction from NPCs but really like EVE it is the players that make the game.

  • @DaUnknown124 Yes, I guess that's a fortunate side effect of MM games: Give them enough space and they'll write their own story. Plot can still help out in these situations too. As in real life, without sufficient imperative many people just languor around not doing much. Being their life they can - moral judgements aside - do what they want with it. However, I believe that some will never achieve morale without an ethical leader. Plot and scenario assist in this for those who would choose it.

  • Can't wait till the make a HUGE game out of this! :D

  • @RockDude690 They are making a huge game... it's in development. Infinity-universe . com or the link in the description

  • About time somebody made a proper seamless space to surface engine. Wait...2006???

  • @goopah The technology is pretty old actualy, Evochron Alliance had seamless transitions implemented a bit before Infinity. The hard part that makes Infinity so special is that it is almost completely proceeduraly generated. That there means you have the potential to visit literaly an infinite number of star systems. Also unlike Starwraith Games and EVE, the universe is scaled to realistic sizes. If you play Gmod you can import the models and they are tiny.

  • GEEZ WHEN IS THIS GOING TO COME OUT!??!?!?!

on a side note, I just realized what the music makes me think of... ultima underworld !!! another cool game that should be remade

  • Saturn shifts it's angle when the viewing position changes. Probably because saturn is actually just a bitmap.

  • @LOLDISNEYLAND Actualy I believe that gass giant dubbed "Staurn" is actualy a real place, it probably shifts angle as the user is traveling at such imense speeds following the curvature of the gaian planet dubbed "Earth". Also last time I checked saturn is hard to see in the night sky which means that the gass giant and moon are "alien". Also the stars are the only thing rendered as a bitmap. However I have made mistakes before....

  • 666 Likes on right now...Damn...That's strange

  • 4 years and still no one's even come close to topping this.

  • This is insane. 2006 too man.. wtf.

  • 60-120 fps on a radeon x800?

    I'm safe.

  • DUDE ITS EPIC !!!! can you give share it with me ?:)) i fkin love it i wanna have that in my pc :)) plssss

  • I sense a spacebuild mod for this

  • wow amazing graphics for 2006

  • I can die happy now.

  • Uploaded 2006 o lololololololol ...

Some thinks are so fucken amazing and dont become known but comicgraphical shit like WoW earns alot of fame.

But well, its the best MMO for now.

  • Epicness overdose, cannot comply... *Head blows up*

  • 60-120 fps on that system ...

    o:

  • AWESOME

  • Is there a game engine that actually does real time reflection? Because I have yet to see this in game.

  • @SkelaSnave Crytek engine 2 has realtime reflections. Its not used in Crysis but you can do it in the Sandbox editor that you get with Crysis.

  • @TolSatha Oh that's cool because in games like Halo ODST it doesn't have it. Is there an available version of Crytek engine that you can buy or get? I am an aspiring game designer and I want to make a game like Borderlands except it won't be a shooter. It will be a medieval game with swords and such.

  • @SkelaSnave id kill for a free online game like oblivian same graphics or let you lets u turn em down so alot more people can play.

  • @SkelaSnave yeah halo reach

  • i was soooooo excited about this game, 4 years ago...

  • SO everyone know, this is a old video, and if you want to see how it looks now, just add "watch?v=fO7XhaTGDYg" after the youtube URL.

  • looks like there's 7 different scales. they blend VERY well too

  • That's a tiny planet with a piss thin atmosphere.

  • @GothJoe Earth is "a tiny planet with a piss thin atmosphere" too; you just don’t realize it because you're walking/driving/possibly flying around at very slow speeds, compared with say, an interplanetary spacecraft, I think the scale here is surprisingly accurate.

  • Looks good actually

  • Oh my god. GIVE DEMO THINGY!!! PLEASE!

  • meh it's vaporware

  • @Mandrak789 We've heard it all buddy.. It ain't and you know it.

  • I think it will be most advenced engine & game at the same time.

  • How much more advanced will the visuals be once this game is released ....

  • Wow, that is BEAUTIFUL.

  • This was done on a single core athlon, and x600 video?

    Un...

    fucking...

    real...

  • @jsr0213 Just wait until you see the new video they put up :)

  • Why cant they release the beta's so we can play around with it ???

  • absolutely amazing but the atmosphere seems not deep enough if you know what i mean

  • waw

  • what games are they making with this?

  • Saveme infiniwankenobi your my only hope >.<

  • Amazing!

  • nice vaporware

  • @paperjack93

    Thumbed you down for idiocy.

  • @ThatCalvineGuy oh no man what am I going to do you thumbed me down

    you're racist!!!

  • @paperjack93

how about you make an entire universe from scratch, huh?

  • @paperjack93 Lets see you make an entire universe from scratch, then we'll call your project vaporware. Oh right you can't make it so tough luck.

  • Oh my god, Infinity ran that well on that hardware? Jesus, I can only imagine how my alienware M15X will run the game lol.

I guess this is a several year old test though, so it doesn't include the full planetary engine... Oh well, still gonna run good.

  • INCREIBLE ME PODRIAS EXPLICAR COM HACERLO

  • If you wanna develop your own games use Unity 3d.

  • Can you go to every place on the planet, or only this point?

  • @vinegar845 you can go all over that planet. You can also travel to over a hundred billion (probably closer to 500 billion) other planets ranging from gas giants to small rocky dwarf planets and everything in-between.
