  • I still have the original floppy ;-)

  • ROTO!!!! CACAD!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've tried to find this again. :)

  • My childhood just came back to me XD

  • I still own a SB16.

  • @side2sideful I have a sb16 an sb pro 2 and a roland, yeah!!! Woot!

  • Umm what operating system is that even?

  • @NovaProspekt1337 Ms-dos it was before graphical interfaces.

  • Oh yes! The SB PRO was my first dedicated soundcard - games suddenly sounded a lot better compared the the PC speaker beeping sound... I used to listen to midis and early tracker stuff for PCs for hours back then. Glorious times! And today I still run a Soundblaster card - Creative got me hooked it seems. :)

  • Sound Blaster Live 24bit - DELL (OEM) SB0413

    NEED A DRIVER PLEASE HELP!

  • @hopkin104 That is why you fail.

  • Oh the memories, nostalgia wins!

  • i dunno why i loved this demo as a kid, i'd play it over and over

  • Such shitty technology, but god do I miss it!

  • So awesome. Such nostalgia... SB Pro blew my mind back in the good old days.

  • omg mmdemo !! i just remember my very first computer and all the money i put on my first sound card !!!

doctor sbaitso and the talking parrot was fun too !

  • I had this too. Bought a sound blaster pro for my 286. I know, sounds weak but compared to the beeps, this totally blew me away. Came with Monkey Island 2.

  • but yea this demo did in fact come with the sound blaster pro cards. Pretty neat as a kid.

  • I composed this song on an old program called AdLib Visual Composer. Not the one in the video obviously but I did it myself.

  • Wow! I never seen anything like THAT before. I had a computer with Soundblaster (can't remember what version though) and I never knew a demo like this even existed. Very cool! ^.^

They need to put this kind of MIDI back in the current soundcards. I like the retro feel of Soundblaster's FM synth. The wavetable MIDI they put in today's sound cards are not really as good, especially if you want to play older MIDI tunes from games like Doom, Terminator, or even Kings Quest or other games.

  • Soundblaster pro and 16 and awe 32 and awe 64 rules

    new soundcards are poor

  • i have an original SB 16 ISA card in my old PC. with 3dfx voodoo 5 5500 agp :D

  • cool

  • God this brings back memories. I must have seen this back in '94 when I was 6! I thought it was amazing...

  • @ptc5010 - I cant remember how old I was but I remember getting the sound blaster pro card when it very first came out back when I had a 386dx 40mhz. I think it was the late 80's, maybe as late as 1990.

  • I remember this. Well. I'm so old. :)

  • What song is this?

  • Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy by Chaikovsky. For the play "The Nutcracker"

  • @tom611 Thanks man, I was trying to find the original composer for a long time now. And you have the answer! Great!

  • I have this... its a Fli animation :) it came with my Sound Blaster Pro 8 Bit Gold.

  • @nopochoclos That must be why it sucked so hard. I remember playing this demo thinking, why is it so jerky when there's other demo's out there busting out textured polys at 50fps. (I was only 13, this kind of shit was important back then you know, you wern't cool unless your 386 had a math co processor!)

  • Can you send me the program you used for this? I want to record the music.

  • overrated!

  • You know what's some really underrated sound hardware? The Roland MT-32.

They really need to start making those again.

  • I've got one right in front of me, hooked up to my Dual Core XP Machine! Great little box, has some really good samples. :)

  • holy shit! impressive

  • I remember this well. As for compatibility with current games, we have to thank DirextX for that, as it makes sure the card is fed something it can work with. That being said, the sound blaster pro was a great product -- I paid like 250 bucks for one the week they came out (my first sound card).

  • nostalgia!!! :)

    Thanks for uploading.

  • gotta love SBPRO!!! and I STILL have those files, and original disks (but sold the card... :( ) The BEST and most ever reliable and compatible sound card ever around at that time. even nowadays with like near 100% compatibility of MOST Win9x and WinXP/Vista games, Creative still manages to out-do themselves... all the way Creative! oh yeahh....

  • sound blaster pro. for your work or play.

  • Great!

It brings me back the old times beacuse i have sound blaster pro.

  • OMG! i remember running this on my 386DX....lolz...

    SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T3

  • Oh yeah! Where's the source code for that demo program?

  • lol. My first soundcard was a sbpro. This brought back tons of memories...for years and years before that, I had pc speaker lol. I just recently bought an MT-32 before! Life is good! Thanks.

  • life was good

  • Love that demo. Glad it's here! Been a while since I saw it. Came with my SBPro and I remember showing it off to people to try to explain why in 1991 people 'needed' sound. Was good with Wing Commander too.

Someone should link the software. I would LOVE a copy. Only issue I didn't like about the demo was how low in the mix the guys voice was. Took me forever to hear the 'Air,Water,Fire,Earth' line. I Still can't fully understand what he's saying. Love the MIDI file music though. ;-)

  • Very good demo !! i love this sound !! looking for a top mp3 of it ! ;)

  • O M G

  • dude i have a sound blaster from 1998 and it is sweet

  • I had Sound Blaster 2.0, SB 16, SB AWE64 my favourite ! Absolute kick ass and now I use Audigy 2 ZS

  • AWE32 with 32MB RAM upgrade (although only 28MB adressable)... oh times of glory... :-)

  • In this now I using a Sound Blaster AWE32. It is Ownage!!

  • is there a big difference between X-fi extreme famer pro series and the Audigy 2 ZS?

  • I've a i486-DX4 @ 150MHz with Creative Labs SoundBlaster 32 AWE Extension on ISA :P

It runs win95, and with DirectX, midi sound is awesome!

    better than today's onboard cards

    SoundBlasters are best soundcards ever

a Question.. what's the name of the Demo's software? (is included in Crealive CD?)

    thanks!, and nice vid!!

  • Sound Blaster pro, in full stereo for your work or play. COOL!!!!!!!!

  • Haha I remember this from my 486 :-) And there was the talking parrot and the organ and dr sbaitso or whatever his name was...

  • "Hello NTISCPLAYBACKONPALTV.

    My name is Dr. Sbaitso.

I am here to help you.

Say whatever is in your mind freely.

Our conversation will be kept in strict confidence.

Memory contents will be wiped off after you leave.

So, tell me about your problems."

  • Thanks for adding this. I really liked to watch it and hear the sound, that was at least before I watched real demos from the demoscene :)

But still a classic bringing up memories of my first soundcard on PC.

  • cool !!!
