the reason was that when they built XP it had all of it's components tied too tightly together what made implementation of new features and remaking of the system really hard. That's why they scrapped the project and started building a new system from the windows Server 2003 service pack source code. They made the new system (vista) better in ways of modding it, so that the development of new systems on the same code would be easier.
So, judging from that win se7en should be lots of times better than vista and should have new features. I really hope seven wouldnt be a dissapointment since microsoft always had the issue of "the second OS is better than the previous one"

by the way there is no prove it is longhorn or xp. so mby = mabey it might be another operating system. but xp is the only operating system that has all those themes......

they customize xp its actually pretty eazy to do... dude its xp... oh did u burn it and tested it. make a video. oh and try downloading any software thats compatible with xp and u will see they work... if they dont work mby is longhorn
like what? desktop search was coined by google and apple because microsoft was to cocky and couldn't get it out by then. not to many people know desktop search was microsofts idea. other than that, there is little resembling mac os 10.5 IMO
That's one possibility I guess. Kinda hard to believe a wealthy (greedy) dictatorship like Microsoft let something like that get away from them... I don't have a problem with too many Microsoft products, but I don't like Microsoft. Maybe if I learned more about the company... who knows...

I've used it and even though it's better, it's not simple. They changed the taskbar and even Vista has a more usable taskbar.

It's alpha. Longhorn is much different that Vista. Longhorn project was canceled in august 2004 and microsoft start's what is now Vista.
