Gears 3 is my first gears of war and I enjoy it.The sawed off is a VERY noobie weapon the only time ive used it personally is for the gold hunter/miner,or when the entire enemy team is using retros to charge.Gnasher is superior to the sawed off in everyway basically that one shot kill can be just as easily preformed with a gnasher and you have more shells if you miss.Why would you handicap yourself for the enemy and throw all your ammo away?
Epic created the sawed off to cater to the noobies. Gears 3 was my first Gears and I started with the sawed off. When I progressed I moved up to the Gnasher. If I see someone with a sawed off that isn't new to the game I think less of them regardless of how easy it is to counter.
you have to be bad at gears to be good with the sawed off, i cant use the sawed off for the life of me, i honestly only have 33 kills with it while every other guns is like on the charts

lol i picked up one today , and it was so easy. i like picking up someones sawed off after i kill them with my gnasher, run up on their teammate and miss on purpose with the S.O , then run away, and when they come up on me i kill them with the gnasher lol.
you don't need to 'get better'. Just use the Retro. Damn near 100% success rate (down or kill). This game no longer needs skill (at least to beat SOS users).

@localSickened hes talking about the layout, if you think about it the layout is actually similar to mansion. You got outside with two side entrances then a main entrance with fatal funnel and then to inside. Take away it being two stories and the layout is almost the same.

The sawed-off beside what whinney 10-years old say, is quite easy to take on. Sawed-off users generally will try to rush from a distance even though they know you can see them. They only have one shot, so get two people. And getting they're a distance away the gnasher is able to down them in 2 quick easy shots. And has anyone ever heard of Barrel Roll because obviously none of you (except for GoldGlove) know it. Sawed-off gets me killed hald of the time because people are too fucking far away!

@TheOnlyLiquid Nope, it's wank. Host has a massive advantage (If I had host you'd all lag like hell). Even if my connection is shit - which it is - the map packs dedicated servers should balance it a bit. I get like a 1 in 3 chance of being on servers with maps. What Pisses me off is I wallbounce up to someone (have no damge att this point) and put 4 gnasher shells or a sawed off in them point blank range, get an active and do the same and get beat by the normal lancer.

This is a pretty old commentary now, and from my experiences, the game got waaayy worse than what it used to be. Really the only good things that happened to it were the fact that a bunch of the sawed-off noobs left GoW for other games such as CoD, and tbh I havent seen many sawed-offs around lately. Second thing is that new maps make the game fresher, but its becoming like gears 2. Horrible

I agree fully, the game doesn't HAVE to revolve around Gnasher battles. It's pretty simple to play around the fact that people use the Sawed-Off. I, for example, tend to use my Lancer and proceed forward where ever my team is, I let my team do the Gnasher/Sawed-Off battles, while I Lancer down the enemies, and tag them, grabbing me tons of points. Hope this helps.
The SOS isn't even the worst part of gow3. They still made the fucking chainsaw gravitate the victim and then added another BS move with the bayonet. Plus the same old laggy, glitchy gameplay. I like both but there's a reason more people play COD; wayyy less bullshit to frustrate the hell out of you.
@CALISUPERSPORT I don't know what Gears 3 you're playing, the servers are always smooth aside from an occasional lag-bubble, also, it certainly isn't glitchy.
@johnfotus716 its way better than gow2 but I still get the BS warping and inconsistent hits on top of the usual gameplay imbalances like the magnetic chainsaws and stacked multiplayer games. If they could just fix that stuff it would be my favorite game, but theres way less bs in MWF so that's king right now.

@1234xNICK gears is a great game don't get me wrong, I've played since gow1 and I've played to lvl55 so far in 3, but its ruined at times with lag and inconsistency. I've been bayonete and mantle kicked from different angles and distances, warped all over the place. On a slower connection I saw much less BS in MWF2. The only bad thing in COD is campers.
Plus half the teams you fight are stacked parties. Everytime i play gears its a countdown to how much BS I can handle before I turn it off
I use sawed off just to try to get the exec for it. Imo if you are stupid enough to get that close to someone camping a corner then yeah you should die. Besides you almost never down em with it so u lose out on executing them! I also find it more consistent than the gnasher which doesnt gib at point blank sometimes
the saw-d off and retro was implemented to make the game more new player friendly/ sell more copies.... its a huge slap in the face to fans that have been playing since E-day.....and yes it is easy to play around butt bullshit happens a lot more with that weapon..some one head shotted me with a sawd off on old town when i was picking up boom and he was in the middle of nades on the other side of fence..shit like that happens all the time.its in the game to make things easier for new/bad players

They corner camp in a remote location and as soon as I run past boom dead, then people blame me for getting to close? Gears 1 and 2 were all Gnasher so my play style is based off those 2 games. I tried to change my play style but then it just becomes another boring shooter.
Sawed-off users should be glad they can get a kill with it to begin with. The gun has a shameful origin and it was created as a hand-holding device. If you still want to wear a bib that's your problem. It was designed to work only within melee range and that's what it now does. You may actually be forced to learn the game properly as your noob cannon is not coming back.

the game is fine, the sawed off is a weapon you have to get REAL close.. and the distance it takes to kill somebody with the sawed off is still a one shot kill with the gnasher.. and if you cant see someone behind a wall, play more cautiously. dont go in there like rambo and wall bounce thinking your god. the retro lancer sucks at long range and you will get DEMOLISHED trying to run across map. all the weapons balance out in this game. stop complaining

It really sucks, they basically destroyed the sawn off. I use the gnasher all the time and got the gold, then i decided to use the sawn off and its just completely useless. You have to be in the character model inorder for it to kill. The sawn off gave great incentive for the game to not be a gnasher fest and encourage more flanking and rifling. Oh well as long as they dont gimp the hammerburst or the lancer, it will be alright.

The sawed-off beside what whinney 10-years old say, is quite easy to take on. Sawed-off users generally will try to rush from a distance even though they know you can see them. They only have one shot, so get two people. And getting they're a distance away the gnasher is able to down them in 2 quick easy shots. And has anyone ever heard of Barrel Roll because obviously none of you (except for GoldGlove) know it. Sawed-off gets me killed hald of the time because people are too fucking far away!

@TheOnlyLiquid Nope, it's wank. Host has a massive advantage (If I had host you'd all lag like hell). Even if my connection is shit - which it is - the map packs dedicated servers should balance it a bit. I get like a 1 in 3 chance of being on servers with maps. What Pisses me off is I wallbounce up to someone (have no damge att this point) and put 4 gnasher shells or a sawed off in them point blank range, get an active and do the same and get beat by the normal lancer.

This is a pretty old commentary now, and from my experiences, the game got waaayy worse than what it used to be. Really the only good things that happened to it were the fact that a bunch of the sawed-off noobs left GoW for other games such as CoD, and tbh I havent seen many sawed-offs around lately. Second thing is that new maps make the game fresher, but its becoming like gears 2. Horrible

I agree fully, the game doesn't HAVE to revolve around Gnasher battles. It's pretty simple to play around the fact that people use the Sawed-Off. I, for example, tend to use my Lancer and proceed forward where ever my team is, I let my team do the Gnasher/Sawed-Off battles, while I Lancer down the enemies, and tag them, grabbing me tons of points. Hope this helps.

The SOS isn't even the worst part of gow3. They still made the fucking chainsaw gravitate the victim and then added another BS move with the bayonet. Plus the same old laggy, glitchy gameplay. I like both but there's a reason more people play COD; wayyy less bullshit to frustrate the hell out of you.

@1234xNICK gears is a great game don't get me wrong, I've played since gow1 and I've played to lvl55 so far in 3, but its ruined at times with lag and inconsistency. I've been bayonete and mantle kicked from different angles and distances, warped all over the place. On a slower connection I saw much less BS in MWF2. The only bad thing in COD is campers.
Plus half the teams you fight are stacked parties. Everytime i play gears its a countdown to how much BS I can handle before I turn it off

I use sawed off just to try to get the exec for it. Imo if you are stupid enough to get that close to someone camping a corner then yeah you should die. Besides you almost never down em with it so u lose out on executing them! I also find it more consistent than the gnasher which doesnt gib at point blank sometimes

the saw-d off and retro was implemented to make the game more new player friendly/ sell more copies.... its a huge slap in the face to fans that have been playing since E-day.....and yes it is easy to play around butt bullshit happens a lot more with that weapon..some one head shotted me with a sawd off on old town when i was picking up boom and he was in the middle of nades on the other side of fence..shit like that happens all the time.its in the game to make things easier for new/bad players

They corner camp in a remote location and as soon as I run past boom dead, then people blame me for getting to close? Gears 1 and 2 were all Gnasher so my play style is based off those 2 games. I tried to change my play style but then it just becomes another boring shooter.

Sawed-off users should be glad they can get a kill with it to begin with. The gun has a shameful origin and it was created as a hand-holding device. If you still want to wear a bib that's your problem. It was designed to work only within melee range and that's what it now does. You may actually be forced to learn the game properly as your noob cannon is not coming back.

the game is fine, the sawed off is a weapon you have to get REAL close.. and the distance it takes to kill somebody with the sawed off is still a one shot kill with the gnasher.. and if you cant see someone behind a wall, play more cautiously. dont go in there like rambo and wall bounce thinking your god. the retro lancer sucks at long range and you will get DEMOLISHED trying to run across map. all the weapons balance out in this game. stop complaining

the only way to adapt to a sawed off is camp n thats not making the game any better every single gow that comes out epic fucks it up GOW-glitchers/quitters/screwed up achievements GOW2-laggy/unblanced GOW3-sawed off/retro lancer(unbalanced the game so bad) and in all the gears the game isnt too flexible as in getting into a battle with someone who has a power weapon you cant really do nothing but run and hope they miss

It really sucks, they basically destroyed the sawn off. I use the gnasher all the time and got the gold, then i decided to use the sawn off and its just completely useless. You have to be in the character model inorder for it to kill. The sawn off gave great incentive for the game to not be a gnasher fest and encourage more flanking and rifling. Oh well as long as they dont gimp the hammerburst or the lancer, it will be alright.
