richter is quoted on wikipedia commenting on her: "...but Schubert's B flat major Sonata, while arresting as an interpretation, was the exact opposite of what it should have been:::"
The pianissimo that opens this clip and especially the pianopianissimo at 3:05 are simply incredible, breathtaking playing: how anyone can achieve such a beautiful, heavenly, ethereal sound is beyond me.
her slow tempo in the dolce moments makes me feel crying...

I like the sly bits of rubato, but I think at times it is overwrought and effuse

What you missed in Richter's quote is that he considered this performance "arresting as an interpretation". For you it's "like she is dragging".

i dont like that she is dragging. alot of russians did that to schubert in her era.

Could you name a few among "alot of russians" who "did it to schubert"?

Maria Yudina, the pianist, is one of a very few Russians by whome the very existence of the Russian nation, if not the humanity itself, is justified.

Rather the former than the latter, if you ask me ;-)

Yes, Yudina is a pianist of the highest order, possibly the best I have ever heard...

Maria seems to be monumental in her recordings
BUT,she achieves it not in a cold mechanical
authoritatian,& objectivist manner. But as individual intimacy.

Now, that's subjectivism and individualism gone rabid.

A human is not a function of justification of something. She has her own causal powers, while the nations and humanity itself is rather a fiction.
