My only question is, what is the point or reason for Rose to question a Jewish columnist about solution and resolution for the middle eastern situations. The answer from him is an enevitable one.
Your statement is true but you must realize that it is not only about the patriot's flag or life, it has been majorily about politics for these people.
Friedman is a dangerous man. He brings the policies of madness clothed in intellectual sounding words which when broken down are nothing but idiotic nonsense.

Friedman needs to get his dangling bottom lip twisted off. Acts so brave in telling people to take over other nations on another nations middle class tax dollars. A classic pawn for the New World Order and a bottom boy at every Bohemian Grove camp out.
Hahaha...i can just imagine him getting his ass pummelled at the Bohemian Grove by a bunch of head CIA and NSA officials...you know...the people who really decide American domestic and foriegn policy.
you're roughly right. when it comes to economics, there are still some classical, adam smith-style (neo)liberals who are deeply committed to free trade and minimal govt. unfortunately, most liberals completely changed and became believers of the new deal and great society style massive govt programs.
BTW) Kihadat, put upended words into their contexts. However, in order to generate enough green power to run a country such as China, more land will need to be built. With a population roving around the 1.2billion mark...wow...plus all the lights needed to brighten the city...wow...the list goes on...how many windmills will that be Mr Friedman?
As with other talking heads around, one must learn to distinguish for one's self what is valid and what is not. For me, Mr. Friedman brings to the table a vast amount of experience drawn from decades of traveling the world and covering various political and economic situations from which which he draws on to develop a bunch of interesting ideas. Take what you will from them or none at all. But give the guy his due.
protectionism will kill America...education needs to improve because kids have to compete with people around the world...going shopping is not the answer
This is how literary critics describe it: "Friedman is such a genius of literary incompetence that even his most innocent passages invite feature-length essays. It's not that he occasionally screws up and fails to make his metaphors and images agree. It's that he always screws it up. He has an anti-ear, and it's absolutely infallible."
Some other Friedman metaphoric wastelands: "The mad dogs have kneed us in the groin while our backs were turned again."
"The only way to puncture that bubble was for American soldiers, men and women, to go into the heart of the Arab-Muslim worldand make clear that we are ready to kill, and to die, to prevent our open society from being undermined by this terrorism bubble."
Try to wrap your head around this gem from "The World is Flat:"
"The walls had fallen down and the Windows had opened, making the world much flatter than it had ever been—but the age of seamless global communication had not yet dawned."
Or this one: ""When the world goes flat - and you are feeling flattened - reach for a shovel and dig inside yourself. Don't try to build walls."
We need to take advantage of solar power. That's the key to completely solving our energy needs. An area only 10% the size of Nevada can capture, in one day, enough energy to power the entire U.S. Imagine if we built 2 of those! That energy can power or cars as well. I can go on and on but I only have so much space on this thing.
A "Dyson Sphere"! Wow man, that would take the resources of several entire planets. Unless you have some kind of replicator technology. As crazy as your idea may sound, at least you have an idea. Our government is run by a bunch of really smart idiots and they dont want to chang a thing.
Why the hell are we still maintaining the status quo? Do we not see that it's killing us in so many ways? It's killing us buy paying for radical Islamic terrorists and the oil burning is contributing to global warming. Yeah I said it. It is happenning! The Conservatives sitting in the white house talk a good game but they aren't out there where the proof is. I listen to the people who are on location where the ground is melting beneath their feet.
Mr. Friedman is brilliant and he's right on the mark! We need to change our energy policy. Buying oil is an insane and suicidal policy at this point. The money used to buy oil is what is funding terrorist organizations from Hammas to Al Qaeda.
here is what Craig Ferguson said about those people "shut the hell up New York Times, you sanctimonious, whining jerks."

Good point, why would you write that? The most remote possibility that comment could ever be funny, but this is the completely wrong context.

Because in some places in this world people's opinions are not attached to their blood and their flag.
(Btw not saying that his view or the present situation is entirely just.)

Policies of madness? You mean post-nationalism? Economic innovation? Only madness to the Know Nothings.

Liberals come in two brands...
You've got Seattle, alt-weekly reading anti-globalists
and there are New York, Thomas Friedman reading neo-liberals.
For progress and stability to (re)occur there needs to be a healthy ratio of each... though it's not 1:1
