Never understood why In Flames got so much shit for their newer cds. Ok, A Sense of Purpose is pretty weak. But Come Clarity, Soundtrack and Reroute to Remain are all amazing cds. Clearly after Colony and Clayman, In Flames became a huge melodic death metal band. Go see In Flames live and you'll realize how good their newer cds are. They are meant for the live setting, particularly Soundtrack to Your Escape which is amazing live.

Folks, I have never actually claimed this is nu metal. I said: "At first I thought...", meaning I listened to the first five seconds, thought it was just incoherent shouting and skipped to the next track. It was only after a while that I took my time to listen to the whole song, and that was when my jaw dropped to the floor in amazement, and now those "first five seconds" are a vital part of the piece of art called "Vacuum". At first I thought this song was the the most terrible piece of nu metal shit I had ever heard, but once I listened it to the final note, I realized how brilliantly composed it actually was. If Dream Theater had done "Vacuum", it would have lasted 25+ minutes, but In Flames managed to fit a whole spectrum of emotions in less than four minutes. (It´s a fantastic song, and it´s absolutely heavenly if you listen to it while "under the influence"... :D)

Their older stuff was Melodic Death Metal and paved the way for many other bands.
