Actually it's not Ray Parker on this. It's the guys from a group that was known as Crackin. Written by Arno Lucas, Rick Chudacoff, and Steve Goodman. Produced by Peter Bunetta and Rick Chudacoff
I was GOOD AND GROWN when this album came out....THIS CUT....HERE!!!!! Was my joint!!!!! This cut prove their abilities vocally. I was TOTALLY impressed with this one.
All the memories...I love New Edition..this is taking me back to my early teen years. I loved those days and I was so in love with New Edition and still go to every concert when they come in town and im now 41. Went to Tom Joyner cruise because NE was there..my first concert I attended at 14 was Lost in Love concert.
I love this song...I used to play this record after school...so mellow...I like how it features each member's voices..."I know my life won't be the same and if you hear me call your name girl, Maryann"
I remember being in the 9th grade when this came out. I used to listen to the lyrics and cry and say to myself "I wanna help Marryanne", with all sincerity.
@gj2766155 Amen to that!!!!! I used to have this record and man I think I listened to it just about everyday. Maryann , Kinda girls we like, telephone man and cool it now. Man that brought back so many memories. Why can't be music be like that now
Excellent song my fave. Actually ralph and ricky sing da whole song. W mike ronnie and bobby n da background. da hi voice parts are ralph too. U can hear bobby singing on da chorus of im leaving you again and hi on cool it now, hide and seek, and a little bit of love
This has to be one of the most mature tracks for the guys during the time this album was climbing the charts. Really didn't get a lot of airplay...nonetheless, it gotta lotta playtime from me. LOL. Thank you for the post.
ha ha yeah aren't those the best times? Man why did things have to change soooo much from the music, clothes, attitude, perception of sucess, fun, and love.
One of the only NE song that everybody sung a verse. Ralph leads, Ricky sings "MARYANN" hook & at 1:59, Ronnie sang at 0:52, Bobby sings at 0:38 & 2:03. Mike sung at 1:32. Very good song!!!
New Edition has made a LOT of HITS, but this was always one of my favorite songs...I think some people was sleepin' on this song! Thanks for the post!!!
Technically, LP is short for "long-player," or the records that play at 33 1/2 speed. Prior to 1990 and the mass production of CDs, LPs were the standard.
NE always did have a way of closing out their albums! This song was one of those songs that true NE fans sang and played besides "Cool it Now or Mr. Telephone Man! This is a classic in it's own right and should more than 6 comments! NE fans turn back the time machine and listen to a true NE jam! Peace to all their fans, don't forget to vote and I'm out!
On a episode of Soul Train, Ronnie DeVoe mentioned that this was one of the songs adults like, probably because this here displays their mature natural sounds. The song is mellowed down with light funk (like Kool & The Gang's mid 80's hits).
