To your question about people doing it without save states, the most common way to do that is to record the video in super slow motion, and then use ZSNES' playback feature to dump the video at normal speed afterward. A lot easier in slow mo... though this level looks like it would be damn hard anyhow! :-)

You buy a pc controller, it has a USB port for a plug and you just put it in, sometimes they have a disk or something for its software, but there's some that you just plug in and the pc recognizes it. My brother borrowed one, I think I should buy one. :3
