Axe FX Dynamics with Edwards Les Paul and VHT 2502 Power Amp

How are the cab sims with this tube power amp/guitar cab solution? I've heard they lack the prescence etc that the FRFR solution provides. This sounds great though.

I think he's using the AxeFx as a preamp directly to the VHT poweramp.

any modelling unit will never get the dynamics and punch as a real tube amp. All modelling amps sound like they are recorded, ie: what you play sounds recorded. It is OK if you record, but live it is so lifeless and uninspiring.

jaeger28 I own a Mesa Boogie 50/50 power amp you think it would make sound as good with the Axe-FX preamp like your VHT or would make it sound fizzi? Please need some feedback to buy a preamp like this.. thanks

The 50/50 is a highly regarded poweramp, so I don't see any issues with using that instead of the VHT. It will sound slightly different, but not to an extend that it couldn't be adjusted with the parameters in the preamp.

@mxr2000 vht power amps are nice but your mesa should be just fine i'd probably get an engl power amp

men i have a question, when you use the vht power amp you need to use both chanels ?? because i hear that if you use only one you can damage the other.

I run one side only, leaving the other on standby. No issues whatsoever.

As long as you leave it on standby its all fine.. but you should never turn on a tubeamp without having a load on it(Meaning a speaker or power-attenuator.).

You had the carvin power amp and now the vht amp. What are some the differences between the two and what made you swith?

The VHT is tube, so it responds different, more warm, more elastic, if that makes any sense.

Meanwhile I use a fullrange FRFR monitor and am in fact very happy with that solution.

Volume poti on the guitar and switching between pickups (the Les Paul has individual volumes for neck and bridge, so you can switch from full on bridge to a clean neck tone)
