Dear Lord Jesus, grant that we may not live for our own pleasure, but to know, serve and love you instead. This is applicable to all, not just those poor women considering abortion. May we see that we're not too unlike them.
This is a true to life drama. It's about 6 and a half minutes long but communicates that Jesus always offering us his love and forgiveness in the form of his body. And if we would like to follow him, we have to follow his example. Even as Christians or Catholics, how we forget this some times.
I love this :) I see it on EWTN all the time. I'd like to know the name and location of that theatre where it was filmed. I'm an old theatre buff, and it's just beautiful. Now that is not to detract from the message that this portrays. As a devout Catholic - I'm all for it.
@sunsetswfl I agree, how do I add this to my facebook, I just love it, I see it over and over. Actually I sent it to a pro-choice customer who was moved by it.
When I first heard this song in concert from Dana, I cried so much because this song is really moving. Dana is such a spiritual lady and people need to realize that it's wrong to abort babies. We need to stop abortion, but in a peaceful way.
I sit and cry like a baby every time I (used to) see this video on EWTN. Sadly, if my poor 16 year-old mother could have had an abortion back in 1954, I surely would not be here today. Things looked impossibly grim for her, and we both took our hard knocks through life, but - I'm so very glad that I got this chance at life, and she never had any regrets, either. We made it, with God's help.
Powerful, powerful song. Full of desperation, love and hope. Let us all work together to end abortion by encouraging and inspiring women to receive the body of Christ and allow God to call forth his children from their wombs.
Mark Girardin sings the part of Jesus, Dana sings the part of the woman who regrets having an abortion and she also WROTE the song, and I sing the part of a woman who believes I have the right to choose. (Thank God things turn around by the end of the song!) :) Blessings, Gretchen Harris
My wife took care of Lisa Landry, the daughter of the Dallas Cowboys coach, Tom Landry. She was pregnant but simultaneously had liver cancer. She was told she should abort the pregnancy and get chemotherapy. She refused because of her faith and sacrificed her life for her unborn child. That story and this video which brings back those memories makes me tear up concerning the goodness of faith and lifting others up before youself. Thank you for sharing this video.
I first saw this on EWTN ..so well done! Beautiful song, beautiful voices! posted it on myspace.....PLEASE PRAY FOR MY HEALING of a neuromuscular mystery.
I remember crying when I saw this video on EWTN web-tv, and was hoping to see it again sometime...Then I found it here, and I am immensely grateful to you for putting it up!
Thank you a million times over for posting this video. I have been listening to this beautiful song for years. I had no idea as to the amazing story behind the song. God bless you
"This is My Body" was inspired through a conversation that Fr. Pavone had with Dana about the comparison between the words "This is My Body" as used by Jesus to give us eternal life, and as used by abortion supporters to defend the taking of life. Fr. Pavone gave Dana the brochure that he had written about this comparison, and suggested that a song should be written to convey this powerful message.
Within a few hours, Dana called him back and said that she had the song basically written! After subsequent meetings and sitting together at the piano, Fr. Frank and Dana were satisfied that the finished product would inspire pro-life people worldwide.
In the song, Dana plays the role of a woman who has had an abortion. Gretchen sings as a woman who believes in the "right to choose." And Mark plays the role of Jesus, who teaches us to sacrifice ourselves for others. They each do this using the same words, "This is My Body."
@LifeIsBeautiful777 - FYI, Mark was my dorm-mate in College. Back then, Mark, other than being involved in music liturgy as I was, was a staunch supporter for the rights of the unborn. I'm thrilled to know that he still is (and is also currently a Liturgy Director at a RC Church.)
I love this video!
