  • This must come from their final tour of Japan, mid-1982. It was burn out time for Weller after this and The Jam broke up soon. A friend of mine once said that no good record, except 'Fools Gold' by the Stone Roses, has ever been made since December 1982 and the break-up of The Jam. He is wrong of course, but the fact he even said it, shows what a great band The Jam were.

  • wow man the singer looks a lot like Gustaf Noren!! (Mando Diao's singer)

  • what a beastly song =-P

  • Stop fighting children and straighten your tie!

  • We use to listen to the jam when we was going on our football away game adventures in the 80's it use to get us in the mood for the mass football riot's long live the 80's!

  • Some fan from Japan has sent Bruce that sweat shirt!

  • Bring Rock and Roll back in the Charts - Miles Kane is trying but need more artists to do so :)

  • saw these chaps live in 78. this was years later. a truly great band. better than the clash IMHO. and i saw them too. well i saw Joe Strummer with the Pogues and he did half an hour of the Clash greatest hits. same thing!

  • @wassupyall ...Your humble opinion looks a lot like what comes out of your ass...wait.... it IS the same.

Saying that Joe Strummer doing Clash songs without the Clash is the same as him doing them with the Clash, is about the most ridiculous musical nonsens I've seen at Youtube.

    Fuckstick.

  • @mapache11 sounds to me like somebody never got to see The Jam or the Clash (or the Pogues) in their prime and is just a little bit jealous and bitter. amirite?

  • @wassupyall ..I never saw the Jam live. I saw the Clash three times and the Pogues once. What does that have to do with my argument that what you said was ridiculous? It isn't like Joe Strummer was the whole band, so it makes NO SENSE to say that seeing him sing Clash songs with the Pogues is the same as seeing the Clash. Fuckwit.

  • They don't make tunes like this anymore!!!

  • This Band Is Like The Liberteens

  • @TheJCEP

    Great tune, great riff

    BRING BACK THE 80's!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the bassist is better than sid vicious, both look and skills.. at least for me.

but this is not punk, it's mod revival.

  • Foxton = Jamerson

  • Pure ;)

  • Top! The Jam was a great band!

  • the bass at the start is briliant

  • @tomdav97 I agree that the bassline is good, but credit must be given where due and in this case it's largely nicked from the Supremes song "You Can't Hurry Love", played by the incomparable James Jamerson. Jamerson played the great melodic bass on many Motown hits and songs, including "My Girl". He was often uncredited and did not receive the royalties he should have, as well as credits, which probably led to his alcoholism and death at 47.

Too bad this venerable song is lip-synched...

  • The fact that the Gift is probably their worst album shows how good they are

  • i see for first time this video on billi elliot the movie and i like it ;; makes me fire on my eyes ; makes me alive !!! makes me the best on the world

  • Weller`s hair here is the best ever !

  • love you paulxxx

  • Top band, top song. One of the first to inflame me when I was driving my first car! I must have been 18 and this song was already 'old'... but college radio was still good in the late 80s/early 90s. Paul is playing an OLD Rickenbacker 360F (F nomenclature meaning 'full size').

  • @blacksunfish Playing? Don't you mean miming... XD

  • @MandolinMan0001 ... fair enough. :)

  • @blacksunfish Interesting information! Still, 'nomenclature'! You could have just said 'short for'! Did you go to Eaton by any chance heheh?

  • Any E?

  • Class, love this song

  • never seen this before ! class ! . jam heaven

  • Just look at the Happydaystown from the Small Faces and see the very similar filming techniques. In fact this reminds me of them alot - probably not having as much fun in the 70's as the 60's
