  • couldent you turn it a little and fit a decklid on

  • @5150Forum I do have the decklid on, but I couldnt turn it enough with the with the wastegate rod to really gain much room. I had to make long standoffs

  • @buguy0 oi. awsome bug man!!!

  • @buguy0 oic. awsome bug man!!!

  • thats ugly

  • @saulanibal1 I actually redid all the piping and cleaned it up pretty good.

  • @buguy0 oh ok thats coo !!!

  • finally huh!? so you had trouble!? im not the formost authourity on speed, but i know the exhaust feed to the turbine has to be as clost as possible to the exhaust ports, and if possible, at an equal distance from each exhaust port, looks like you have 3 miles of exhaust PRE turbo :p

  • @NASTYTHEBOY Yeah i did, I really didnt have the tools to make a new header. But, I was able to find a couple old regular headers and cut em up to make a new one that is as short as possible. The trouble I had was I somehow didnt get one of the back header flanges over the bolt, it was to the side and caused a huge air leak. Fixed that, and the boost was there. But I have to say that the new header barely works any better than that mile long length of pipe?

  • @buguy0 hmm, i wouldnt know what to do, never played with a boxer engine, but and boost should send send that bad boy flying right!? haha, my car would haul ass doing zero lbs :p as long as there isnt a vacum, IT MAKE A HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE DIFFRENCE! xD

  • @NASTYTHEBOY Yeah it does make huge difference. I have pushed as much as 17lbs of boost into this thing! It had oil shooting out of everything, but man did it haul ass!! I like to take my friends out and scare the crap out of them!

  • @buguy0 same here, were were you shooting oil oit from!? , i had the same problem, i ended up using oil feed line from ebay, but i figured out that you can use the same line that you use for an oil pressure gauge, its 10 dollars at autozone :D

and HELL YEAH! when the boost comes on, ITS SCARY TIME! xD

  • Is there a way you can give me a link for exactly what went into your build? Im having a difficult time figuring out how to do a header or where to buy. I have dellorto 36's and would love to try blow threw but i think you can only tubo prep 40's? Anyways i did find you but only could find the forums you commented on not your own. Thanks man! im stoked for boost!

  • @germanvw I dont have a link on me right now, and mine is drawthrough, completely different that what you are wanting to do. Go to the shoptalkforums(dot)com and look at forced induction. lots of guys have done what your wanting to do.

  • Are you running a holley carb? what cfm? Do they need any modification to run with a turbo application? I know lowbugget has a adjusta jet and some turbo mod to the carb, but i would rather do my own setup.

Do you have a wright up on your turbo setup anywhere? like samba or shoptalk forum? Im interested in talking to you about setting up a turbo configuration like yours. thanks

  • @germanvw

Yes it is a Holley 450. I put a really small power valve in there to enrich the mix when on boost. I belong to both of the forums, and have done some write ups there. Just look for the user name "buguy" and you will see some of my stuff

  • hei does fuel would pass turbo before retract engine?

  • @apilaut Yes fuel goes through the turbo before the engine.

  • did u use carbon seals in the turbo?

  • No I didnt use carbon seals, but it needs it. This turbo would require a different backing plate along with the seal. It would cost me over $300 for all the parts, and I would rather get a different turbo than do that.

  • what happens if u dont use the seal? does it draw in oli or what?

  • @omrek Yes it does. This one does not have a seal, but it doesnt suck in a lot. i am planning on changing the turbo, so I didnt bother with a seal. Really I just wanted to see if I could do it, and if it would work....to my suprise it did quite well. So now I need to change some things. I have moved 1300 miles and didnt get to bring the bug yet...so no progress so far.

  • hey sweet ride man

how much was the tubro kit??

and will it fit on a 1200cc 40 horse? LOL

  • I didnt buy it as a kit. Just kinda assembled from assorted parts. And yes you could apply it to a 1200.

  • u got some slap in that belt

  • Ya, I fixed it. This was just initial set up.

  • wrong carb use side draf, venturis are to big fore suction one your carb will line out on boost on les you change venturis

  • it's not a blow through carb. it's draw through.

  • You made this kit right? What type of carb are you running to allow for the blow through set up. How much torque/hp did you gain?

  • Are you maken boost? Looked like your wastegate didnt open.

  • nice man! wat turbo is that? o n i would suggest a serpintine belt system for dat motor, it would help out a bit :)

  • It is a T3 42/48, I think from a late 80's Saab. They say a T25 from a DSM works real good too on a small VW engine.

  • Great turbo setup! What turbo are you running? Thanks
