If you watch the Other videos of this same debate, she is a total Moron who thinks this whole event is about her . The Candidates all should have said 'Listen, we can actually do this much better without you, as you are IN THE WAY of any kind of information getting out there to the voters, stop this bullshit of attempting to audition for your own News show, and shut your Mouth !
I have to add this: The question was about "global climate change" (the latest liberal phrase for "global warming" but now used since the years after 1998 haven't been as hot), the word "serious," which could mean anything, and if it was partly manmade, which is true -- the question has always been how much, from insignificant to slightly more than that. Geez, how loaded a question is that?
Fred was right. The question was terrible and meant to paint the candidates as either unfeeling or dupes. One correct answer might have been "The data isn't in yet, and I don't know, and nor does anyone else -- no matter what they claim to know." The "yes/no" answer left no room for any doubt: you had to be a believer or a doubter. That the moderator remained inflexible -- and rude about it -- just proved her bias.

The question was legitimate, but hand-raising questions attempt to oversimplify complex issues and are flawed. I never thought it would happen but I found myself cheering Fred Thompson.

Debates are not for raising hands. Raising hands are for classrooms or courtrooms. Notice that Fred asks to explain, is denied, and then McCain is quickly allowed to explain. The debate is bullshit if people are not allowed to talk about their beliefs.
The problem with Thompson's approach was that he dominated over the moderator (which is extremely rude from my part of town) and turned a stupid question into an argumentative discussion on whether or not he should have to raise his hand and then wanted a whole minute to speak (you don't reward ignorance/rudeness). McCain was smart enough to take the opportunity to speak about the issue and not argue over raising his hand.
People seem to forget that the hand raising itself is a logical fallacy: it signifies that there is simply a yes or no to belief in global warming. The fact is that no one (including scientists) really know what is going on. That is why Canada is having its coldest winter in 20 years. That is why there are no more hurricanes, though they were blamed on global warming.
I do agree with you that the debate over globing warming is a complex question that can't be answered in a yes/no, hands up/down answer. She was not very bright to think that it could be or should be answered this way. My argument about this questions rest with the candidates rudeness in there response. They are the guest of this show and they should act like guest not Kings of this world or the debate.

I do actually read books and articles all day long and study my candidates thoroughly before I commit myself to them.
