  • I searched and searched and searched, and then I found. I did not have to look very far.

  • This hymn reminds me of my gran.

God bless her soul, keep faith for god is good! :)

  • Is the name of this unfortunate girl known ??

  • @ndzoko It is a girl that was gassed in a concentration camp in Germany 1943 she was with her parents in the original photo but they used her for the world to see the terror in her eyes of what was about to happen.

  • @fincasandaluciablog I know, I ended up there almost myself. I justed wanted to know her name. It`s heartwrenching the fear in this girls` eyes. I hope her murderers have paid for their crime.

  • @ndzoko if you accept a friend request i can send more details about her

  • I can't handle the holocaust or the horrors that happen every minutes of every day. Just thinking about it is enough to make me completely nonfunctional for an entire day. The images are overwhelming. Almost nobody understands.

  • @Soothfish I understand. And you will get through. The times have always been hard, but there has always been goodness and kindness as well. The best antidote to all the suffering is to take little steps of faith, of movement, of life.

  • @Soothfish lest we forget.

  • There are four people who are "dead" inside, if they can't see the beauty of this song...

  • Oh Michael Horncastle is the best boy solist of Libera.

A very great song. All boys have a very beautiful angels voices.

Libera is the best boy choir ever.

  • Be nice a little courtesy will not kill you, sometimes truth pricks us all.

  • celestial...nice..nice...I want to be buried with this hymn...!!!

  • Such beautiful music. I could spend the rest of the day viewing and listening...simply heavenly! God gives talents to those who will use. Amen!

  • The photo of the girl was taken at Auschwitz concentration camp. She never made it out alive. The song is about God Standing by you while you walk through the darkness and death takes you.

  • who is the girl in the pictures?

  • @J999ACK

You are so disrespectful! I'm sure your mom is ashamed of you! Oh, sorry, you might not have one.

  • @2uprofit I fail to see any disrespect as I am crediting the hymm. And now who is being disrespectful after speaking about my mother like that? You dont know shit, so shut the fuck up and keep praising you complete downer

  • simply beautiful!!!!!

  • that girl is burned in my memory.

EVERYTHING WHAT'S VUNERABLE MUST BE PROTECTED BY THE PEOPLE.

PEACE AND LOVE NO WAR AND HATE

  • The purity of Libera's voices never fails to uplift.

    To: loudlouisa

Henry Francis Lyte who wrote this hymn was ordained into the Church Of Ireland.

He wrote other hymns including: "Jesus, I my cross have taken" and "Praise my soul, the King of Heaven".

Born in Kelso, Scotland, educated at Portora, N. Ireland, and Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, he moved to England after a few years as curate in Wexford, Ireland where he eventually settled in Devon before dying of consumption in Nice.

  • I´ve always loved this hymn. And if it´s sang by Libera is even more beautiful.

  • Please stop fighting about religions and listen to the beutiful song insted. Libera is amazing!

  • Oh how Beautiful! Very lifting! Thank you so much for posting!

  • In this performance are little Sam and Zac, aren't they?? :)

Great song of my Liberian and cute and amazing Micheal, like usual :)

  • The Crusades were started when Muslim clerics in Israel killed Christian leaders from what I remember. It was under occupation by Muslims at the time. This garnered the attention of the Christians in Europe and they found a new duty to defend Israel.

  • In PALESTINE, Ghale. Israel the country is a recent ursupation of that region. They were not defending Israel! They were defending Christianity, and Jerusalem, from the hands of the Moslems! It had nothing to do with the Jews, or "Israel". The Catholic Church was (and is) Israel. I bet you're waitin for Jesus to come, Ghale. Get down ere dat revival, now!

  • @wainscottbl

    Moslems?

Have a it of respect for what the song stands for!

  • You're very right

  • Repaid the Muslim faith? Do you know how Islam even expanded? It was through Crusades of their own. That area had been taken over about 15 times throughout the centuries by various empires and religions.

  • Yep, it expanded cuz they can have several wives

  • You get evil people in the world despite where you live and what your religion is. To say that all Muslims are suicide bombers (no doubt due to Western propaganda) is like saying that people with disabilities are stupid. It was warped views like yours (I'm talking to you personally, bestywwfc) that made Nazism strong and allow racism to exist in this world. I am not an expert in world religions but I know that in the Islamic world, a true Muslim would never kill a fellow Muslim.

  • Uh duh, but saying a muslim wouldn't kill another muslim isn't saying much. Some seem to have no problem killing "infidels".

  • shud be englands national anthem

  • amazing!

  • Quite beautiful & definitely worth sharing.

  • a beautiful hymn, thanks for posting.

  • Not true. In SriLanka the Tamil Tigers who are Hindu also use suicide bombers. Hitler was raised a Catholic as was Stalin (Orthodox) but not all Catholics are mass murderers. Murder has absolutely nothing to do with your religion.

  • You have a warped and wrong image of Islam. Have you ever studied it at an academic level? Don't ruin this song with your false beliefs in a religion you never studied nor are part of. I've studied it and been to islamic countries. Amazing how some westerns fall for the TV propaganda and generalize everything just from what media tells you.

  • How many Islamic people do you actually know bestywwfc? You represent all that is wrong with the world today. Maybe if people like you got out more often and integrated with different cultures the world would be safer place today.

  • search for " Libera holocaust remembrance" and you will get to it.

  • What happened to the earlier version that explained who the young girl was, where she was imprisoned, and when she died. The look of terror on her eyes is unforgetable.

  • This is beautiful. I love Libera. their talent is God given

  • this is my favourite christian hymn, even if i'm not Christian, i do, recognize the beauty of this song...

  • wonderful

  • that poor girl. it's funny that hitler was a jew and yet he had so much against jews ppl of his own heritage that he wanted to wipe them out completly from germany.

  • could some1 tell me where I can download this song without having to get an account?

  • update ur computer with the latest realplayer. then when your cursor goes across the video "download this video" will show.

  • This song was at my uncles funeral. kudos to these boys.

  • best prot's hymn ever.

  • my dad once told me the guy that wrote this song was close to death, and his feelings have been expressed in the lyrics to how he was feeling, im not sure how true this is, it is a beautiful song it will always be special to me it reminds me of relatives that ive lost, ((my dad has not passed away if anyone got that impression, thats not what i intended))

  • yeah my dad told me that too was his favorite unfortunatly we sang it at his funeral 2 years ago brings a tear to my eye everytime i hear this especially at FA cup final

  • sorry to hear of your loss mate, it is a beautiful song, its becoming a family song this now, it was played at my grandads and great uncles funeral, our family have written out forms for when we die whether we want to be buried and what songs we want playing etc so we know that the person will get what they want when they go, a few of us have that down at some parts of our funerals

  • Cheers mate tottally agree beautiful song i will defoo leave instructions for this to be sung after my passing

  • Yes that is true... The man who wrote this song was also a priest (I think) but he died a few months after finishing it. My grandfather sang this to his father on his death bed per my great grandfathers request. The song moves me each time I hear it.

  • its such a lovely song even if there is not special meaning behind it, but its extra special if it reminds you of someone or if it has a special meaning, its becoming a tradition in our family to have it now, we have all wrote out what we want at our funerals on a piece of paper so we all know what we want when we go, so we all know that we can give everyone what they wanted

  • Does anybody know around what time this was recorded?

  • Late 2004 for transmission for Holocaust Memorial Day 2007 in the UK, 27 Jan 2005...

  • r.i.p.nan an grandad

  • I love this song, and this version... chilling.

  • michael is just too cute here. *sigh* they grow up so fast...

  • perfect

  • And I mean the singing dude. :P

  • The dude on the top left at 1:43 is soooooooooooooo hot

  • Tusen Takk.

Måtte Gud den Allmektige. Faderen og Sønnene og den Helige Ånd. Velsigne og Bevare dere alle sammen

  • Jeez, koreotomero, those are just kids. They wouldn't care about looking stupid. In fact, I am happy that they care about SOUNDING great- because obviously, they do!

  • Even if this is not your type of music, you could show a bit of decency, tact and respect for the very subject that this song was connected with on this video. I'm not particularly enamoured with Rap music, but I don't go looking through YouTube just to post disrespectful comments about it. I try to avoid what I don't generally like. You should do the same. That way everybody's happy.

  • I agree with Rupert Jones

  • nice song

  • so much peace to feel in this song..well sung

  • Beautifull ....

  • awesome,,,angels singing thru these little children

  • eunuchen das sind eunuchen ahahhhhhhhhhhhhhh *kreisch

  • played at the FA cup final

  • Very reverant this weekend. Moving, touching, and Libera once again tap into the mood of the song, with a flawless demonstration of vocal dexterity.

  • outstanding, beautiful, makes you think. Thank you.

  • outstanding, makes me think. Thank you for this.

  • I am usually tempted to sing along with this normally rousing hymn - but not today.

These must be the very angels that sang to Rev. Henry Lyte when he entered the Kingdom after penning these powerful words of strength and redemption, that have strengthened so many for so long in so many ways.

    Amazing video.

  • did not know that the rev penned these words thnx for sharing

  • what rev?

  • The Reverend Henry Lyte - the author of this song.
