  • Had that happen to me on the subway a few times here in NY. was riding on one of the museum trains once when the emergency brakes went on so hard, we were throw off our feet. I nearly went through a window... Heck, Even happened to me on my way to my college graduation. Spent a good 15 mintues at the bottom of the East River tunnel

  • nice one post more videos of these great catch!

  • @goodchappy There is (or was) a standard procedure for dealing with a failed signal. Roughly speaking the driver will be authorised to proceed at less than walking pace until the emergency stop trips and halts the train. He then resets the tripcock on the train and proceeds on his way. A good driver will explain all this to his passengers because the bangs and sudden stop can be a bit scary

  • Whats with the large sparks and smoke at the beginning, looked like there was a problem with the train.

  • @goodchappy The emergency breaks applied which grinded the wheels to a halt I belive.

  • My local station! You're standing in the exact spot I always wait in.

  • @snedie69er Seriously? Does that happen much there?

Yer people stand close to the ingress point so that the train is travelling to fast to stop in time: If you jumped half way down or closer to the end the train can usually stop within three meters (completely dependant on train ofc, but they usually come in slow because of the risk of jumpers).
