  • "won't last for ever...It's kind of sad...."

  • Keith Fordyce "What do you want to see here?"

Brian-"See as many kids possibly as we can, mostly the kids, younger people.

Keith Fordyce "Yea Whatever, that was weird"

  • I'm glad Mike's nephew is on my NBA fantasy team. Double doubles nearly every night.

  • This happened almost 50 years ago... Unbelievable.

  • a really talented and musically capable band. They may appear trendy posers but they are real musicians, it's all a business trick. But it would be better if their target group weren't teenyboppers and ignorant little girls. After all, like the Beatles, they started making their music some years later.

  • We need to bring this kind of music back. I can't stand any more crappy music that my friends listen too. Music to its roots!

  • They were more interested in the women screaming at them than talking with the interviewer. hee hee.

  • @adaniru Mmm. Idk about that.

  • @jandean61 I really like The Beatles and The Beach Boys, The Beatles where the best on pop, and The Beach Boys where the best of Southern Rock, have nothing to do with each other.

  • i like the beatles and these guys

  • FUCK THE BEATLES !

  • Pissing myself at this, pure class!

  • In my opinion, the really cool parts are where you get to see Brian Wilson. He's a genius.

  • The American Invasion

  • xD

  • whoa what a beautiful time

  • I'm only 14 and I love the beach boys & Carl was so cute. They all had a voice of an angel. Wish I grew up in the 60s instead of all this crappy music today

  • @SmellofSummerGrass ambulence ltd. quite cool band.

  • Brian: "I can't hear anything" [puts hand up to right ear]

    Nice one, Brian

  • damn where is that replay button?

  • THE BEACH BOYS - THE BEATLES

  • great post!!!!!!

  • Gotta give it to Mike: his definition of "surf" music is pretty accurate.

  • He called Dennis Ringo :D

  • Brian has a cute smile. I love a dude with a nice smile.

  • amazing dddduuuuuudddddddddddddeeeeeeeeeee

  • Mike Love is the whitest guy I've ever seen. Great performance though.

  • You kill people

  • i get goosebumps everytime brian sings for some reason

  • they were great...but they were stopped by the beatles ...of the psychedelic song strwberrry fields

  • This is the song that plays in my head when I'm killing people.

  • Mick Jagger stated on a British television talk-show in 1964 that The Beach Boys "I Get Around" was one of the greatest songs he had ever heard.

  • listen to all those white people clapping on one and three

  • They remind me a lot of the Beatles.

  • 00:49 "Damn that's a ass"

  • Beach Boys 4 ever!

  • this video rocks the reporter sucks thou

  • God i love this song. It's so musically sophiisticated. The tempo/ the call and response singing. Just amazing. They kind of lose it for a while, but quickly get it back and finish it off with style. Over all, its a lot more fun than listening to the record. duh.

  • your all gonna die, suckers.

  • When I was a kid, in the '80s, it was all about The Beatles for me and The Beach Boys were too "corny" with their matching stripped shirts and "themed" songs. In my 20s, the harmonies of "Fun Fun Fun," "When I Grow Up," and "Wouldn't It Be Nice" really started to catch my ear and I paid close attention. And of course, the praise of "Pet Sounds" was everywhere. I bought "Pet Sounds" and became a lifelong fan. These guys could sing circles around anybody, including The Beatles. From 3:19 on!

  • FUCK THE BEATLES!

  • @CookieSummers same here

  • Comment removed

  • The British kids are cool and everything, but the host is a bit short for some reason.

I suppose the same could have been said of some US hosts when they had the Beatles on.

    Good performance either way.

  • @HughHoyland1 i agree

  • I'm 15 and I love this

  • Dennis has the Bieber

  • what does he say in 2:50?

"Surf music is just beat music with..."?!

can´t understand because of the yelling of the girls :D

need it for my term paper, pls help me

  • @cutiebooti surfind words to it

  • @cutiebooti "Surf music is just beat music with surfing words to it."

  • @cutiebooti "surf music is just beat music with surfing words to it"

  • Cool to see this live video with no dubbing or lip synching. Those 4 guys had perfect blend of voices. I was 7 in 1964. A few years later at age 10 went to my first show and have been to about 65 concerts since then. Needless to say BB music has been a big joyful part of my life.

  • It's just pure magic when Brian comes in with the hook.

  • Beach Boys - great. Keith Fordyce - crap. Another embarrassing Englishman asking Americans what they think of this country. I do wish they'd stop it - they still do it today. Will they never learn.

  • Pure Beach Boys. Too bad these blokes didn't realize at the time that they were witnessing one of the greatest band of all times.

  • 0ladystardust

You are completely right I hate the world where we live In,go back in the 60's must be great,I wish I could do it...

  • muito bom

  • back when people had morals and worked hard. its no wonder today's music sucks

  • I'm going to see the beach boys on labor day at the l.a. county fair!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ringo at the back here??

  • 5:00 Hilarious. Mike thinks he made the girls scream by putting his finger in his mouth and then finds out it was Dennis who turned the girls on. He looks so frustrated.

  • BEATLES!!!

  • So funny and cute how they giggle when they fluff the start of When I Grow Up. Amazing how they recover to sing in perfect harmony from one strummed bass note!

Not enough of Dennis here. Silly presenter dismissed him with his comment!! I would DEFINITELY have gone for Brian if I'd been a teen in the 60s! I always loved the sensitive and shy ones. I wouldn't have said no to Dennis though! ;)

  • Take one good look and you will realize that the Beach Boys are better dressed than most bands today.

  • Brian looks so young and sweet.

  • oh my gosh. i love them so much. i think im in love with brian. hes so adorable. too bad i was born in the completely wrong decade, im only 16 now lol

  • mate lead singers mike needs turning up . . . fucking awesome sound thow ! dig this ... emulate this when I next pick my guitar up . . . :)

  • WOW! nice... I play guitar, and I know just how complex this seemingly simple song is. God Bless Brian Wilson. Playin Bass hot and singin the falsetto.. I mean they were workin their asses off, and succeeding wonderfully. so nice to actually see it from, what,, 1964? By the way, I was a teenageer when this was on the radio+ we used to dance to the 45.

  • Damn freakin' good and totally live. The false start on WIGUTBAM shows they're human and not afraid to make a mistake. Too bad the limey host was such a twat.

  • Great music, when we learn the truth of life inspired music like this will flourish again,to learn the truth search truth contest, open the present and read it.

  • When the announcer said Ringo, What an insult to them and america.., other than that, This is great,, some people and their small pokes...

  • FUCK THE BEATLES !

  • @jandean61 WHOAH! Now calm down, breathe, and think about what you just said.

  • Saw them in these same shirts at the Retail Clerk's Union Hall, Buena Park, CA ... No levi's or capri's, please!

  • This is AWESOME! I had no clue they were this good live. Brilliant.

  • by the way my dad went to high school with the beach boy drummer

  • Damn, now i know where my dad gets his dance moves from! wish i was a teen back then would have been kick ass

  • 35 people weren't allowed to get around.

  • When I was 13 years old I was going to school in England and remember watching this on TV. Being from San Diego it was nice to see.

  • Brian is so cute!

  • Could they have made the stage any smaller? Brian takes one step back and bumps into a cymbal. One step forward and he would have fallen off the stage.

  • @kenp3L More room for the crowd that way. :)

  • If I had the chance to rate the appearance of the Beach Boys, and The Beatles on Ready Steady Go, I would say that the appearance of the Beach Boys is 10 times better!

  • long time ago.....with silliness in the middle

  • @berkshireboy62 Lol, yes :-)

  • The members of the Beach Boys are like extentions of Brian Wilson.

  • ... Super, Duper & Thanks so much...-:) X 100...PS: seems like 35 don't, nor never, 'Get Around" such a shame

  • ... Super, Duper & Thanks so much...-:) X 100

  • Mike scoping the British birds..horn dog...lol

  • Mike's got a great voice. The guy's a freakin icon

  • This is about 1000x more complex than the Beatles of 1964. Amazing!

  • BRIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3

  • Brian's voice is sexy xD

  • Brian: "I Love It"

    Girls : Aaaaa!!!!

Poor Brian not allowed to talk xD

  • I love the Beach Boys and the Backstreet Boys. GOOD pop music.

  • @NAsHviLLePeroxiDe the beachboys made Surf music, not pop

  • @Clevelandbrowns58 is there a difference?

  • what's with all the UK bashing?

  • I'll give it five!

  • I always wondered whether the people in Great Britain really understood what this song was really about. most teens in gb didn't have cars or a place to cruise to on Friday night..

  • @vettefool Hi there my friend....I think you are right about our awareness of the detail, but the key to the BBs appeal has always been the universal connection with something that superficially seems so geographically specific. I was just 10 years old when I saw this on UK television, so had no idea about very much, let alone "gettin' bugged" and "cruisin'"....BUT the Beach Boys made me sit up and take notice because of their freshness, harmonies, melodies ...I've been hooked ever since.

  • @vettefool

Well for ordinary people in the UK the fifty's and early sixties were pretty bleak by today's standards. American rock and roll and blues symbolised what was for teens a better way of life. America was ahead on car ownership, household goods, cool cinema and fast food, so was I suppose something to aspire towards or escape to. It was certainly more hopeful to us than the world of the drab, pompous presenter in this clip, and the old music hall, (vaudeville) entertainment.

  • fucking stop screaming and get a big fat one in your mouth stupid bitches.

  • there's no beatles compared to the beach boys ^^

  • thanks to youtube and upload. Ive never seen these and i grew up with this music. they were excellent live, even in their early years.

  • Re. "technical difficulties": I challenge anyone to pull off what they did in this clip, singing complicated harmonies in front of screaming girls on live TV, with a lousy sound system and no monitors (hadn't been invented yet). One quick fuck-up at the beginning of the song and then getting their correct parts off of one bass note is pretty damn good under these circumstances.

  • "Surfing... What is...? Is it a sport or a kind of music? "

"Oh, I don't know, well... What do you mean? Surfing's a sport!"

I love how it took Mike a second to fully register the question and how his voice cracks as he goes off on a different answer.

  • great songs but take them away from a studio and their technical deficiencies soon become glaringly evident.....

  • @corneliusfelix Technical deficiences ?? Oh I don't know , well....What do you mean? the guys are spot on. Who else could play and sing like that !!

  • @corneliusfelix You're OBVIOUSLY not a musician. This live performance has harmonies that no UK group at that time could match. The false start of the second song is probably why you made that statement. They had to pitch their harmonies for an augmented 7th from Brian's bass note, with all the noise from screaming girls it threw them. This isn't the Rolling Stones 'live' ie not too many chords certainly no harmonies to pitch. A completely inaccurate statement .

  • @tonyrivers Totally agree with you.

  • Comment removed

  • excellent in every way.

  • Sounding great live!!!! Fantastic

  • "Will my kids be proud or think their old man's really a square?"

Oh, I really don't think you want to know the answer to that question, Mike Love of 1964.

  • this is live music at its best!

  • Weren't they great then with Brian . They really were a hot band.

  • always loved that false start since I saw that show live in '64 in the UK

  • When it was fun to be alive !!!!!!!!

  • That host is an a-hole.

  • @EMCEscher on what grounds?

  • I said gay sounding, as in jolly, not in the homo sense. Reject? Bit touchy aren't you? So aggresive - one of Youtube's bullies I guess. lol.

  • @noahwayne Either way I completely disagree; the Beach Boys were huge influences on the Beatles and really did most of the "pioneering". John and Paul said that Sgt. Pepper's was an attempt to match Pet Sounds. The Beach Boys weren't really "cool" but they did a lot of legwork to expand pop music so that the Beatles could take it a step further and make it cool. If you don't believe me give Pet Sounds a listen.

  • @noahwayne how the fuck can you say that, thats obviously why in nearly all the songs they sing about meeting girls. get your facts right reject.

  • This shit would have ruled so bad to see. I wish I had a time machine . . . bad.

  • @Mattimeoo I'm with you 100%. This is top-flight teenage Rock&Roll. Show me the way to the time machine right now. Beach Boys rule. Brian, Carl, Dennis, Mike and Al! They knew how to have fun.

  • @Mattimeoo yeah athough the host sucks seriulsy and this is coming from an eleven yeAr old

  • Wow that host didn't know shit

  • @MYdoggieisAuggie Don't forget, it was a long time ago. Unless you were living in the area certain things were going on, you wouldn't know about it. The press wasn't what it is now, and you couldn't just google things to do research, like these days. And that seemed to be a common presenting style back then, anyway.

  • look terence hill is singing

  • 2:36 no, i don't think that's ringo...

  • Awesome song! :)

  • Had to smile how Keith introduced them as the inventors of surf music though. Not quite 100% accurate as I'm sure the guys doing it before them in the states would agree, Dick Dale especially.

That's not to say I don't love the Beach Boys, I do!

  • Look @ Marilyn wilson in the audience she's gorgeous and still is Go Team Marilyn Brian and Marilyn Forever

  • They're havin' fun fun fun! Great stuff!

  • i just love these live versions, and all their imperfections

  • is that carl wilson with the rickenbacker guitar?

  • @theps3fanatic23 yes thats carl

  • Ein echt guter Song. Und eine tolle Band.

  • The interviewer is such a fuckwit.

  • Live as shit!! Not like today.

  • Wow, a Band that could actually Harmonize and play their own instruments!

  • Brilliant!!!! Thanks for putting this up!!

  • Ah, I wish I could experience those teeny bopper days of the late 50's early 60's

  • I am one of the Beach Boys fans but I just don't think their stuff worked so well live

  • I love to play this on drums

  • yer man love this

  • This is why I love music back then, they sound good even live.. unlike "singers" sound like dying lamas while singing live

  • Born in 50ty They were my Favorite Group even wore the same shirt , my high school sweatheart thought I was crazy . Oct 2,2011 this crazy and her have been married 40ty years. Our love lives just like our music.

  • I wonder if the Beach Boys ever met Elvis!

  • Fuck The Beatles

  • @jandean61 WHAT?!!!

  • dennis was a good drummer

  • I'll never participate in an YouTube argument. Ever.

  • @AndShowalt lol one of the greatest youtube comments ever. I dont know why people argue/debate/fight/whatever with people that dont know/will never meet...so odd

  • I LOVE the beach boys but there mics werent plugged in properly here......... it sounds WRONG

  • hêh_ÀñY_gÛYs_wÁnt_tó_chÅt_wIth_mÈ

  • I like the beach boys

  • 3/28/2011 Check it, even the Beach Boys (Carl?) used the RIC 12 string, a trend that was most likely started by Roger McGuinn of The Byrds. If that guitar is anywhere, it may fetch many thousands of dollars. Have to put it on my "wish list" for now.

  • @noahwayne how do they compare with `girl wears pink thong` LOL

  • @1900JME1959 They dont compare. That vid is way more satisfying..lol.

  • @noahwayne no , it just means at 38 you`re a closet paedo

  • @1900JME1959 Listen here mother fucker cos I take a dislike your music dont come giving me jibe avout being a paedo! The girl/ woman in the thong is 25 years old is perfectly legal otherwise it wouldn't be on Youtube you arsehole. How dare you acuse of something like that you arsehole. That comment is very distasteful. Also, Im not 38. I haven't given my details as creeps like you snoop into peoples profiles. Get the fuck out of here you wanker.

  • @noahwayne LOL looks like you dish out comments but cant take them i guess ! You might want to think about that next time you leave negative comments on youtube

  • @1900JME1959 Im sat here asking myself "How stupid is this person?". Firstly, my comment was aimed at a band / sound I dislike - we are all entitled to an opinion. My comment wasn't directed at anyone in particular and it wasn't acusing someone of being a peado on a social networking site!! I wasn't getting personal. You are just one of Youtube's bullies that needs to reel his neck in and take stock of his stupidity. Fuck off. This is my last comment. Lets hope we never meet in person!

  • @noahwayne It`s unlikely we`ll ever meet. people like you who favourite `girl wears pink thong` dont get out much !!

  • wow men in the 60s were good looking<33

  • oh, I just love Mike Love's voice...

  • they weren't just studio puppets...they could really do it...great!

  • @xyzimagenes yeah and you suck altogether....a-hole

  • Maaannnn I love this performance because they played their songs louder, the drums are so loud and clear as opposed to the studio versions! Get Around especially sounds so awesome and right next to She Loves You! Hit the cymbals harder drummerboy!! :}

  • we singing this for choir
