  • Amazingggg

  • who are the accompanist.....love the harmonium player with his encouraging nods

  • it is okay to call it hamsa.... in the south, the word is hamsa.............just like gyaan is pronounced jnaan in the south......quit splitting hair

  • Need standard spellings for Hindi/Sanskrit to badly. Its Hansdhwani!! Not Hansdwani

  • @aviramvijh cannot understand you. are u correcting the spelling? well when you do sanhi in hindi words and write them in roman script, there is some scope for sounds like a and aa being confused.

  • @shankyxyz : I know....being a linguist. Read the standard Romanization of Turkish for example....to understand what I mean.

  • Thank you - one of the best.....

  • great performance khan sahab.. keep it up..!

  • @abbasalikhan abbas bhai, its at the bottom of the screen, (with some corrections)

    "Laagi lagana pati sakhi sanga

    parama sukha ati anandana"

ang (body) sugandhana(prefumed) chandan(sandal) mathe(forehead) tilaka dhare (wearing chandan mark on forehead)

mriga nayana(eyes like of a deer) anjana(kajal) pavana de(dont know what this means: pavan is wind)

    amar uniti pati kaje sajana

Composed by Aman ali Khan "Amar"(takhalus) of Bhendibazar gharana.

  • @shankyxyz speculation has it that he learnt hamsadhwani thru the magnum opus composition in this raag by muthuswamy dikshitar called Vathapi Ganapatim(seen often on youtube) form a carnatic pandit. This bandish closely follows that melody.

  • @shankyxyz thank you so much :)

  • @abbasalikhan you are most welcome. i think you are the guy i rubbed the wrong way some time back. you sing well but i am a harsh critic of music. so please don't mind my words. please practise hard. also would love to get ur feedback on watch?v=cqCiZBJESFE.

  • I quite like this...but I don't think I've found anyone doing it better than Kishoriji... but that's my opinion

  • tell me how to download this video

  • @crajhansa what Operating system do you use? Linux will be very easy. win windiws, i have no idea, but a casual search on google "how to download youtube videos " should provide links. realplayer used to have an addon which enabled downloads.

  • does any body know what is the status of pandit Rashid khan?

  • @pravinhendre ustad rashid khan, he isnt pandit,,!for ur correction, as hes muslim so hes ustad,

  • Excellent rendition

  • hai hai khan sahib mar hi diy hai aap ne wha .wha aap ke charno me is old man ka pranam .lambi umer jio aap meri bhagwan se prathna hai

  • I'm English proper, love you Indian & sing-songs. Lovely stuff!

  • @designinsight Thanks for loving our culture..

  • Rashid Khan Saheb does great justice to this beautiful Raag

  • baller.

  • India is the richest country in the World having such a RATNA.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Where is the sarangi coming from?

    Why is it offstage?

It should be in the place of that harmonium there....

  • AWESOME!! The beautiful Raag Hamsadhwani will ITSELF thank him for singing it!! Ustad Sahib has paid the raag a rich, pristine tribute! So divine! Thanks immensely

  • Wonderful singing.

  • I feel the tabalji was not just too good but was suggestive too.Saath Sangat should bring Rangat and that's what the tabalji aptly did.

    kumar Sydney

  • Great 1

  • Ustad Rashid Khan is a great singer/performer. I listen to this Raag every day, all day sometimes and never get enough of it. Unfortunately when Ustadji came to my town in the US, he had fever and the show was a dissappointment. I have enjoyed him immensely otherwise, his CDs and tubes.

  • Simply super natural

  • i don't like the tabla player too much...?

  • i know wut u mean... i mean hes good... but a lil different somehow.

  • He's Samar Saha, highly rated in Kolkata & preferred as an accompanist because of his subdued & gimmick-free style. Never tries to overshadow the main artiste & always follows them sedately.

  • Are you crazy?!?! the tabla player, Pandit Samar Saha ji, is fantastic!

  • He's fantastic for afficionados - not for those used to gimmicks & loud noise - points i was trying to make in my earlier post! Maybe we actually agree more than we disagree ;p

  • In fact old school musicians such as Kumar Gandharva hardly allowed any gimmicks from their tabla accompanists. That trend started with the instrumentalists.

  • You certainly have a point there. For instance, this sawal-jawab business is really often overdone. When Ravi Shankar (I think) introduced it, for sheer novelty it captured the imagination of most people; but with the element of surprise gone, it should perhaps be more sparingly used.

  • Your observation very pertinent. i also feel that this trend was introduced by Ravi Shankar. Was this a result of the time that he spent learning/absorbing some of the intricacies of 'layakari' from a guru of Carnatic music in South India? Similar things happen in Carnatic music.

  • Could be, i don't know.

  • @dams0001 sawal javab was introduced thru influence from the south, where it is structured into the tani avartanam the percussionists play.

  • @shankyxyz Can you explain or define sawal javab for those of us less knowledgeable?

  • @ande1718 well its the process where the singer/instrumental plays a short tukda of maybe 1 avarthan length in taal, and either the other instrument/percussion emulates him. usually the sections get shorter, till they are a beat in length. see it here right at the start:

    /watch?v=m_LOGet4crM

  • @allfieldsreq Whats not to like? He's one of the best and especially for vocalists. Always right with the singer and gives so much energy without getting in the way.

  • Exquisite, enchanting !! One of my favorite singers and one of my favorite ragas. After listening dozens of times, I had to thank for posting :)

  • kya nasha hai !!! sangit ka nasha sabse utam hai. sangit bhakti hai, sangit ibadat hai. duniya ke sab rang fike hai sangit ke age.

  • What better comment can there be about this upcoming great vocalist than given by Pundit Bhimsen Joshi?

  • I have been to one of his live performances. Looks like Hariharan. They are like brothers

  • awesome!

  • simply out of thi world

  • who is junior in the back?

  • ive been tryin to find out.. hes really gud.

  • i think his name is prasad kharpade. he is here on youtube, watch?v=QthU3dYmFUU. i have seen him accompanying khan saheb in minneapolis last year

  • Rashis khan has a tiger's voice

  • extremely well done..torch bearer to pandit bhimsen perhaps?

  • he is God... every swar so well touched. Amazing...

  • Cheers, no text on the screen, full version
