tried this and it FAILED! used the same rope as he does. it does strech and has some spring but not like the Banshee Bungee. the shock cord only streches twice its original length and it will pull you until its back to its unstreched length then you stop. not enough strech basically. the Banshee Bungee streches seven times its length. this is because it doesnt have an outer coating of nylon string which stops the strech.

it looks like you only have one piece of the shock cord hooked up to the rope. that seems like it might snap under too much pressure. Im interested in making my own as well. Is that whole bungee made from the 100ft. cord? I might try braiding three together and seeing how it works out, im just wondering if it has more oomph to it. Hopefully we all get some snow soon.

@hassletheman yeah i shortened the bungee so that theres barely any slack between the rope and the knots. i dont know if braiding it gives it more though. I was originally planning on cutting the cord into three pieces and braiding it, but I couldn't figure out a way to tie the rope to the three pieces. and to answer your question, yes the entire thing is made from the 100 ft. but after you braid it, or knot it it should be about 30 feet in length. Expect to see some footage tmrw, i got snow now

After just learning about the Banshee Bungee.. I got excited and figured it couldn't be too difficult to replicate using standard shock cord. I have an old ski rope in the garage that I am now going to use for the DIY project. I'm going to follow your knots as they look very good as well.

Cutting down Bungee system at third of the price and Im sure it goes a third of the speed the Banshee Bungee can go. But I like the attempt, But dont get hurt with it it could snap back and break

@99ANDE i thought the same thing, but surprisingly this thing actually has a really good amount of spring to it. I actually just went into one of my local skate shops, and they just got the banshee bungee in, and i tried it out, it was pretty close to the same amount of spring as mine. And if you make it the same way i did, it wont snap back, cause its tied together with some pretty complex sailing knots.
