@jnb4eva I believe that the original songs in Cantonese and Taiwanese/Hokkien will not sound nice if sing again in Mandarin. every song had their own originality. That is why Cantonese song and movies were preferred choice in Malaysia for many years, despite the availability of the subbed-Mandarin version. Even Hokkien TV series were shown in original version instead of Mandarin due to the originality in Malaysia. My humble opinion only.
