  • I'm curious does GM & Dodge have a display like this in their trucks!?

  • Haha you are right if you go 70 on I-96 you will get ran off the road

  • @kalzx

I traded in my 2010 8cyl F150 4x2 Lariat for a 2011 EcoBoost V6 F150 4x4 just before Thanksgiving-- I got better gas milage all the way around with the V8 (15mpg in town)(17mpg hwy) than I am with the EcoBoost (11mpg in town)(15mpg hwy) -- I have always happily driven Ford trucks -- Now I feel like Ford pulled one over on me, big on hoopla and marketing, zilch on delivery of said hoopla and marketing, in short Ford shafted and ripped me off -- Sadly I see I am not alone!!

  • Michigan speed limit is 90 on i-696. Lol.

  • Well I have done a lot to my 98 f150 and I am getting 15-16 city and 22-25 hwy. I would be interested to see what mods this truck could take to increase the mpgs. And for those wondering I have 98 f150 4x4 auto trans 4.6L with 3.55 gear ratio. Mods are efan, underdrive pulley , edge programer , K&N cold air intake and Iridium spark plugs.

  • has anyone got over 10,000 miles on one of these engines who could let me know if the mileage got any better? A friend of mine has one of these and he is at about 5000 miles and he got about 14.5 mpg pulling a 7500 lb fifth wheel. I got a 2007 silverado and I get about 15 mpg hwy and about 6 mpg towing my fifth wheel that weighs about 6500lbs. Don't want to move to a diesel cause the cost would not be worth it for the amount of towing that I do.

  • Yea I hear you man the Eco is tons of fun and I love it but some of these claims about the MPG I just don't see how they r doing it. In the city I am getting like 12 MPG!!

  • I just did a video with city MPG and mine is stable at 16mpg all city driving. To be perfectly honest, it rural city where there are open stretches off road sometimes between multiple stoplights, but with that its still 16's in the city. My vehicle's lifetime MPG is currently at 15.5 because its mostly city driving. I don't tow anything and its a short bed and 3.55 axel.

  • I'm getting the same MPG's as well with my F150 ecoboost... I don't know how these other guys are getting these ridiculous 20+ MPG as average. I figure they are in those flat roads states like Texas and do mostly highway driving. I'm averaging 15MPG city and around 18MPG highway. If I'm lucky, i'll get 16MPG combined. The ecoboost is a eco-ripoff for MPG, but its a lot of fun power wise.

  • Sorry I meant MPG

  • Yea the ecoboost sucks as far as MPH I been pulling a small 5 by 10 trailer around town and I am getting 9 mpg!

  • That is a good point I did just get back from my summer home which is a little over a 3 hour drive I set the cruse at 79 MPH and I got 16.7 MPG

  • Yes the EcoBoost MPG is not as good as I was hoping I am getting 13 MPH CITY and that is driving the truck very slow

  • @kalzx, probably not getting the turbo to kick in...it would probably get better mpg around town manually shifted or with the over drive off.. If its in drive these newer transmissions seem to shift into overdrive to early kinda lugging the engine...I noticed this engine has turbo lag untill about 1700 rpm, so if your driving in town try to manually shift it to were it stays around 1500 to 2000 rpm and see if you get better mpg. I guess its worth a shot.

  • @kalzx my dads king ranch gets 15mpg in city

  • 17mpg highway is not exactly encouraging. Ford says 15-20% mileage gain on the larger 5.4L retiree. I am not seeing it. Drive one the other day and got 13.8-14.2L/100km (for us Canadians), not as good as I would have hoped on a brand new ecoboost, factory lists at 11L/100km I think but of course those numbers are always fudged for the real world. My 160L Suburban by the way costs way more to fill, you guys have it easy! at $1.24/l that's almost $200...

  • i did 6 tests on my 5.3 with only volant intake, i got 20 city and 26 highway at about 70 mph.

  • I found there's a huge difference between between 60 and 70mph, like 5mpg.... and even more between 55 and 70. So for the extra few minutes it will take me, i'll gladly slow down, it will ease off on the speeding tickets anyway. Most of the roads i drive up here in Northern Ontario are 80km/h zones anyway.

  • resetting the lie o meter every two seconds will not give the actual mileage!!!!

  • Man in Canada I got the same truck but with the 5.0L v8 it takes 157$ to fill the tank 80$ is nothing! I wish it was only 80$ to fill this pig

  • 70 bucks to fill would be my dream! With our fuel @ 5.10/Gal in Canada... At that price your 26 Gallon tank would cost $132 to fill. And that's with our dollar HIGHER than yours. Ripoff....

Cool test though, I'm pretty sure i'll be buying one as soon as my Super Duty sells.

  • @JB101inc yea get one they are a very nice truck

  • @kalzx Powerjoke is gone! I'll be picking up my new FX4 Crew 6.5ft (silver, cloth, 20's max tow)on weds. I put about 60 miles on it already... Incredible motor. Way smooth, and feels as strong as my f250 on a mild tune. Pulled my 17ft Crestliner for 20 miles, averaged 19.7mpg @60mph on cruise and got the lean-o-meter up to 16 degrees! I've driven the big 4 and I can honestly say everything about this truck is head and shoulders above the competition. Hopefully it's solid long-term!

  • Think what you want about the gear I have had trucks in the pass with lower gears and they where not good for gas milage but again if there is no wind and the highway is flat the 3.55 will do better than a 3.75 around town the lower gears SUCK

  • @kalzx I have a 3.55 in my 5.4L V8 08 F150 and its great, 800km on the highway rpms at 1500 and still crap loads of power when I want it, towed 1500lbs and 1000lbs in my bed and it worked great

  • @kalzx that makes sense. I guess if our looking for good mpg's you wouldnt buy a truck in the first place. But just imagine if you coukd get a tough truck with sedan type mpg. Woudnt get any better then that

  • @truckguy92 yea i hear you i did think that the EcoBoost would put out better MPG but it really does not live up to all the hype but again that's cool with me

  • I've seen one getting near 28mpg

  • wow thats actually surpirising, i thouhgt it would get better then that, especially after hearing a ford salesman rant about how fuel efficient it was for a half hour. I could get those numbers on the highway in my 03 suburban.

  • @truckguy92 Yea it sucks but the MPG is not why i got the ECO i got it for the power

  • @truckguy92 if you want good gas mileage with the ecoboost doing 70mph and you are not going to tow you wouldn't be running the 3.73 gears. The 3.73s are for towing not fuel economy. If the guy testing would slow it down a little he would be getting 18-19mpg no problem. But as mentioned before the ecoboost is the alternative to going diesel for towing. Way better for towing than the 5.4l, 5.0L or even the 6.2L because it produces more torque over the whole rpm range.

  • @mikecamp6969 The 3.73 gear is over all the best gear for both towing and fuel mileage if you put a lower gear in your truck the motor will have to work harder and it is the worst for city driving the only time a lower gear would be better would be on a flat highway with no wind and not towing anything.

  • @kalzx I own a 2011 f150 supercrew ecoboost with the 3.73. I know all about what gears do what but your statement about different gears is wrong. If you have a 3.55 gear you WILL get better highway mileage than a 3.73.

  • @mikecamp6969 Not always true. Depends how much fuel the engine uses at different RPMs. The RPM will be lower with a taller gear ratio yes, but the engine will have to make slightly more torque to overcome that higher ratio.

  • @yellowmusicfreak Dude, I own the truck. I have 3.73s. As I said in my first post...if you don't tow. 3.73's are not the gear for getting good gas mileage. And to be honest... who gives a rats ass about fuel economy when you're buying a truck. You want gas mileage go buy squirrel powered Toyota or Nissan.

  • truck still isnt broke in it will most likely change after your first oil change! CAI, exhaust, and Royal purple oil will help out alot. I got an extra 3 mpg in my 07 tundra!

  • @sfyamaha21 yup you are right motor is brand new needs time to break in thats for sure

  • I would like to see an average mpg at 55 or 60 mph. Great Vid! Thanks

  • @Paul93082 Ok i will make one

  • Nice vid, thanks.
