he didnt mean that he wasent working hard, he meant that he didnt have to because he had the talent, the media will destroy ur career smh, charles said that he wasent a superstar,as a raptor he averaged 16 a game, but after that season he averaged 27 a game as a net. if vince had kobes mentallity to win, he would've been better than him

If you remember back then .. all the talk was how amazing his athletic ability was. Even in this interview, he made reference to his injuries and b/c of it, he seems to be clearly saying he can no longer rely on sheer athleticism/gifted talent like in years past, but now has to give all that much more to continue as a prolific scorer.
I don't understand how Toronto fans think this is his confession that he quit in that final year in Toronto. And keep in mind, how interviews are put together.

All this time, this was supposed to be Carter saying he quit in Toronto? It just sounds more like him wanting to push and work at it harder given that he was going through some injuries. Just before he made that comment though, in the games he did give it his all and if he didn't he would hear it from guys like Oakley. Stupid Toronto media taking things out of context.

VINCE had a problem with the organiztion not the city toronto!! He went from playin for a coaches like butch carter n lenny wilkens to craig oneil lmao...playin with guys like antonio davis, charles oakley, tmac, jyd, chris childs, alvin williams, he also had new gm's after glen grunwald got fired like ROB BABCOCK LMAO...he wanted them 2 get steve nash n jamal mglore n didnt attempt to n wanted 2 draft d wade bu they chose bosh! it wuznt all vinces fault its also the organization(idiot organiztn

Vince has always been penalized after this interview for being honest. He could've answered "yeah, I bustem my ass ever since I got in the NBA" and people would've never said all the shit they're saying now.
So if he was to lie it was probably better. Tons of players don't give 100% effort but they lie and it's OK.

@Raptorel I dont think Vince admitted to not playing 100% in games or trying hard--If i recall correctly Vince said in an interview that Mr. Thompson apologized to him during the summer while he was in North Carolina for this interview because it was edited to say that Vince didnt try whereas he was pertaining to working out in the gym during the offseason or some other question
