@ryreinhardt, Dave may not be the greatest "guitar player" that ever lived but I think it safe to say probably the most versatile stringed instrument player that ever lived.
david lindey is incrediblle with an amazing musical career probably 40 plus years of experience. with multible bands as well as el rayo -x he is one of my all time favourites and any body can expand thier minds with a little bit of art appreciation...listen to bach ,techno .rap whatever you like ,but enjoy the whole spectrum
dave is a great player of many things - but please no, he's not the greatest guitar player that ever lived - that is just plain stupid, grovelling fan worship.
I personally don't think Lindley is the greatest musician to walk the earth although I do enjoy his tunes. However, he may very well be the best guitar player in some peoples eyes, considering that title is purely based on opinion. Calling people names because you don't agree with their musical tastes is pretty pathetic.
As to Dave's love of wild polyester shirts and such. I think he and a friend have a small museum for wild clothes somewhere. Does anyone know more about this?
David LINDLEY's records seems to be hard to find... what a pity!!! This man is a-ma-zing, but too rare... Come Back Dave and visit us in Paris France Pleeeeeaaaaasssseeeee!!!!
Anybody have the Mr. Dave lp (from '86-'87)transferred to CD? I'm more than happy to send Dave the desired $5 as well as you for your efforts. There simply is nobody like this boy.
Thanks, Gutensaf--a very generous Lindley/Cooder fan from France helped me out back at the time of my post. I sure do appreciate what I take to be your offer and, no doubt, there are others who will want to take advantage of it (just keep in mind, friends, Mr. Dave rightfully asks a mere $5 for every burn). Speaking of Ry, I just saw a youtube vid of him playing the blues on mando--simply amazing and highly recommended.
I've seen Mr. Dave forty times in my life, from El Rayo X opening the first ever concert at Irvine Meadows Ampitheater in 1981 to Reggae on the Rocks at Red Rocks in Colorado in 2005. Dave = Best Ever!
can someone please tell me the name of the first song seen performed in this video and what album it is from? i've seen mr. dave many times, and he always seems to open his set with this song, at least in the recent past. any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks also to JohnnyDsTV for posting!

Interesting that you use "guitar" as a Tag for this video....that's FAR from a "guitar!"
