@rollthelosingdice I use to have a WASR-10, it shot straight and was reliable, but the quality of a WASR just doesn't hold a candel to a polytech legend. The Romanians/Century arms don't near the quality and consistency that a Chinese rifle has.
@rollthelosingdice If you were to take 10 WASR's and 10 Chinese AK's, the WASR's will probably have more issues where the Chinese ones won't really have any problems. That's the result of quality. You can't judge a product based on one sample. My first AK was a Romanian AES-10 which is basically a long barreled WASR and it had terrible mag wobble and trigger slap, plus the magazine release fell off. The WASR I got later on was better. You never would have those issues with a Chinese or Russian.
@esh325 yes your right the old wasrs did come with a couple problems like trigger slap, mag wobble, canted sight block. They can all be fixed, if you have an ak that is accurate and doesn't have the problems like this you have the best, doesn't matter if it's a polytech.
@rollthelosingdice if you think a wasr 10 is on the same level as a polytech, you are an idiot. don't hate on someone else because you can't afford a quality weapon.
@rollthelosingd i already have two svd's. we were talking about ak's. i have thirteen of them. all chicom, hungarian, russian, bulgarian and a couple arsenals. the chicom ak's are as good as they get. i would not take up space in my safe with a wasr 10.

@1962egl whats wrong with a wasr 10?? How is it worse than a polytech? You pull the trigger it goes bang and sends a bullet to the target, what is so good about a polytech that it costs 3 times the price?
@randomfatblob do your homework dude, post ban AK pattern rifles are vastly inferior to a Polytech Legend not to mention have no appreciation in value. Todays AK clones are old parts kits on a crap receiver those Chinese Polyechs from the 80's were built as a quality complete rifle from end to end.
Whats that about 50 yards and your all over the paper!!! LMFAO I thought you said you could hit a target out past 200 yards with that rifle??? With what I have seen in this video I doubt you could hit it out at 100 yards!!! I guess that is why they hired the other guy for the Discovery Channel Documentary!!!!
@smokalottapottamus It was my first time shooting the rifle. I have hit targets to 100 yards quite easily with a Romanian WASR off hand. I have taken my AK's out to 200 yards before, but I was dissapointed by the results. It's probably me though and not the rifle. Look up Hickok45, he can hit 200 yard targets with an AK.
@esh325 Were talking about the vintage AK in the video one out of ten rounds fired hit the paper at 200 yrds. That doesn't mean you can't build an AK that will reach further than a standard AK! The AK was never designed for long distances what it was designed for it does very well and that was medium to close quarter combat! The reason its so reliable is also one if the reasons it's no so accurate and that is its loose tolerances in the action!
@smokalottapottamus Vintage or not, it should be able to do it. The drop isn't that great of the 7.62x39 round at 200. The AK was designed for 300m engagements according to the US army and Soviet manual. The round the AK-47 fires is really the most limiting factor. AK chambered in 5.56x45 and 5.45x39 are close to a M16 in terms of accuuracy.
@esh325 Try the dime test it will help you on your trigger squeeze also I can tell from your video your anticipating the recoil and flinching just before it recoils! Be more aggressive on the gun you have a decent stance but the gun is running you instead of you running the gun. Control that recoil and your accuracy and speed between shots will increase! Try this for trigger skill have a friend balance a dime on the end of the barrel and practice squeezing the trigger without losing the dime!
@esh325 Lets see a target from a good day! 200+ yards is a long way for an AK and you were talking like you can do it all day long, I'm just saying I don't believe you could outdo the guy in the video I uploaded! Hell I put four rounds through the same hole at 50 yrds standing the video is on my channel
@smokalottapottamus Look at my other videos then. I can hit to 200 yards with a M1 Carbine, so I don't see why an AK can't. I'm confident if I tried it again and had my fundamentals down, I could do a 200 yard shot with an AK as others have done it like Hikok45.
@MrAk5150 The same in terms of quality, reliability, and accuracy. The thing about the MAK-90 though is that it lacks muzzle threads and a bayonet lug like this rifle.
Ignore the people who say not to shoot it, it's a gun it was made to shoot. Take good care of an AK and it won't break for many lifetimes. Guns were made to be shot, not sit around collecting dust. Unless you want a slick looking $1.5k paperweight. Shit, I shoot my Mauser C-96 made in 1897.
yea it's more reliable but the 5.56 can travel longer distances while keeping stability in flight unlike your commie gun that falls into the hands of tyrants and scum over the world. Fuck you and fuck Russia.
This exact gun (polytech legend AK47) is my dream gun. How much did you pay for it and what state do you live in? I see these guns on gunbroker(dot)com every now and then for $1500-$2000. The only problem is, I don't think these are legal in gay ass California, I need to move the fuck out of here.
This one ran me 1,350$ You cannot get these in California. The next closest thing you can get in California to a Polytech Legend is a milled MAK-90. I think
@Bigtymer781 Mine was turning into an unfired paperweight. So I sold it for $2250 6 months ago. It was a beautiful gun for 17 yrs., but I had no use for it.
@esh325 Oh yes they are, or at least they were 6 months ago. An item is always worth EXACTLY what someone will reach in their pocket and pay. So you are wrong. (unless you are calling me a liar) My low 4 digit ser.# Polytech Legend sold for that much including shipping. And that was w/out the cheap and cheesey box. But unfired, with ALL the accessories. I bought other guns I could actually use with that money.
twin with the same Imperialist tactics. Most communist theoriticians actually consider the USSR's Stalinist doctrine to be a far-right anti-communist regime.
Anyway, I love the AK47 and I think that despite all its great characteristics, the sheer greatness of the AK47 is in its system - the system that has influenced almost every single rifle designed since the 1950s. Also, the rifles like the FN FNC, Ak5, AK74 and Galil that have been designed along the AK47 are top performers.
The thing that repulses me most about the USSR was its imperialistic nature. They would force communist regimes on other countries. Many people died because of this. Sorry for the slow response, for some reason your comment did not show up in my inbox. The AK-47 is handown my favorite rifle. I think it's time the Russians come out with a more modern version though.
The USA and USSR/Russia are two sides of the same coin. The USA also forced fake democracies (by democracy the US government means doing things in favor of the profit-seeking corporations) on countries. Not to mention the US spoiled tons of countries and calls "terrorist" anybody tying to finally break free from the corporative grip. Example - Afghanistan. 2000-2001 Talibans are in power: Opium production 185 tons. 2009 NATO is in control. Opium production 8500 tons.
But yeah the AK47 is arguably still the best rifle out there. I'm also a fan of the FN FNC and its Swedish counterpart the Ak5 because they use the AK47 operation and provide similar performance with more modern features (rails, scopes, etc.) Also the SIG SG550 is similar. I think the russians came up with a modern AK cousin - AEK 971. It balances the operation so you can have 5.45-like performance in full auto with 7.62 rounds
Hey, esh325, it really pains me when I see people putting "communism" and "terrorism" and "oppression" side by side. I have been reading books by Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Pyotr Kropotkin and Pannekoek for quite a while now, and in my opinion the tragedy of socialism is that: 1. people don't know anything about it. 2. people relate it to the USSR
The USSR was NOT communist. In fact, the real communists at the time (Einstein, Orwell, Luxemburg and so on) saw the USSR as nothing more than a US
Oh I know that, I just have one that's never been fired. I have a Polytech Legend, Norinco 56S, Norinco 84S, and a Yugo M70AB2. I was debating on leaving the Polytech unfired and keeping it as a safe queen. But I figured what better than to shoot a few hundred rounds through it on my 21st b-day and rap up that night drunk as fuck on Kalashnikov vodka! :D
Shoot it a little bit atleast. The only time I've shot this one is in the video. I bought a Yugo M70 but I wasen't impressed with the reliability and sold it.
I'm most definately shooting it some. I'm going to be throwing alot of money at my Yugo. Ultimak optics mount, Aimpoint M3 (2MOA), Ultimak forearm rail system, Surefire light setup, Hogue grip, Tango Down stubby vert grip, PWS Muzzlebreak., and possibly the Lighting bolt. It's going to my "SHTF" rifle. In March I'll have my Glock 19, and I'll have a Mossberg 500 to take game and if need be defensive purposes.
One positive thing about that Yugo though was it was quite accurate, maybe I'll get a Zastava PAP in its place. Hanging rifles with stuff was never for me, especially on an AK. I only like wood on my rifles.
I'm one to just swap out everything for no reason. I want quality parts and I want to make improvements on an already proven weapons system. All my Chi-coms are staying original.
Nice milled AK. looks pretty close to the type 3. My milled bulgy was almost perfect, except I never got around to getting my gunsmith to intsall the sling swivel. Its amazing how slick the actions are with a milled one. great vid. the soviet national anthem "The Patriotic Song" was a nice touch sir, well done 5*
Yeah, I really love this rifle. Probably my favorite gun. Milled rifles aren't really much better then the stamped ones, but I like AK's alot so I had to have one like this.
It's 100% legal, it's a semi automatic rifle, no full auto. You're right though, I should have shot a little bit faster to make the video more interesting.
Damn socialist nazis are taking away our rights to carry. When I get my permit, I'd love to shove it in commie obama's face, not literally meaning shoving a gun in his face, that's a crime, especially since obama's ego would probably have me executed in the worst way possible. We need to beat the crap outta these nazi pricks that are taking away our guns with gun ban after gun ban and with the worst fallacy ever that 'guns cause crime'. Have you ever been to knob creek? I'd love to go some day.
I agree. They banned the importation of "assault weapons" because they were deemed "too dangerous and scary." The banning of importation of "assault weapons" was completly ineffective at reducing crime. The rifle in the video was made before the ban of importation of "assault weapons" so it legal. We must not let them pass any more gun restriction laws as it works in steps until they've banned all guns. I haven't been to knob creek or shot a full auto yet, but I hope to someday.
I think it's the best AK you can buy in the US. Arsenal's are nice but you can't beat a gun that was made in the factory along side it's military cousins. The only AK I think MIGHT be better is a Valmet or Sako, but it's really hard to beat the quality of this rifle.
I have a Yugo M70b1 and before that i had a Romanian SAR-1.Not so thrilled over any thing make here in the US,everything we make sucks..TVs,cars,ect. all breaks down with 1-5 years
Yeah it's really sad, American manufacturing is not what it use to be 50 years ago. The parts kits AK's generally have lower quality then the factory built ones.
All the great American gun companies have pretty much gone down the drain. Springfield Arsenal in Masschusets made amazing guns but they were closed down. Now there's Springfield Arsenal in Conneticut, but it's nothing like the old Springfield Arsenal, alot of there guns are really foreign made. Some Winchester operations pretty exsist only in Japan and Europe and Remington is not what it use to be.
What I really don't like about American gun makers is that everything is either a Mauser or and AR-15. There is very little originality to be found. There are a few good companies left(like Kimber for instance), but none of them are big enough to make a difference
It's true almost every company pumps out AR15's and mausers. We don't need anymore AR15's. You could say the Chinese have zero originality when it comes to firearms, but atleast they make very good copies. I've never owned a Kimber 1911, but I have a .22 conversation kit done by Kimber and I was very impressed with the quality.
So you are declaring that the Chinese AK is superior to the Russian, Finnish(widely considered to be the best), Albanian, Czeck, and Iranian AKs?
While Chinese firearms are worlds ahead of the sheet metal turds the Romanians stamp out, there is no way they would ever surpass the quality of and of those nations firearms, save for milsurp Russian AK
The Albanian AK's actually patterned off the Chinese made AK's, the Chinese gave the Albanian's the tooling make to them. The Czechs don't make AK's, they make VZ 58's which are similar, but not the same. I've never handled an Iranian AK so I can't say. As for the Russian one, I would say the Chinese one is better then most Russian AK's. The Chinese AK's have a thicker reciever, heavier barrel, better trigger, and better finish then the Russian made ones. Chinese AK's are very well made.
As for the Finnish AK's I hear they have the very best quality, so they might be better or on par with the Chinese ones but I can't say for sure. While the Russian's are the original, other countries have taken the design and made it better.
I think the fact that SGL-20 wasen't good was because Arsenal might have did a poor job converting them. I bet the rifle in its unconverted state as a Saiga was a fine rifle. I avoid parts kits AK's or any AK's that have been modified by Americans. I've used alot of AK's and the Polytech Legend is indeed the best AK out there.
Basic history of the weapon, statistics, and practical shooting demo...whomever gave that (1) low rating don't know squat...5/5...OSU!!! (KARATE EXPRESSION)
Nice, mine is stamped, my buddy has the milled one, we shoot about the same, His jams a little when using the hollow points though, his tends to like the FMJ mine does not really care either way...

It's going to my "SHTF" rifle. In March I'll have my Glock 19, and I'll have a Mossberg 500 to take game and if need be defensive purposes.
screamingdemon 2 years ago
One positive thing about that Yugo though was it was quite accurate, maybe I'll get a Zastava PAP in its place. Hanging rifles with stuff was never for me, especially on an AK. I only like wood on my rifles.

I'm one to just swap out everything for no reason. I want quality parts and I want to make improvements on an already proven weapons system. All my Chi-coms are staying original.

What an investment you've made. Nice piece man. Everyones favorite ak is in your hands.

TheRiflemanChannel 2 years ago
Yeah, I really love this rifle. Probably my favorite gun. Milled rifles aren't really much better then the stamped ones, but I like AK's alot so I had to have one like this.
esh325 2 years ago
I know exactly how it is. I've own many flavers of AK's.

I got one of these bad boys its my safe "QUEEN" an excellent AK
marvothemustang 2 years ago
It's a very nice gun. None of my guns are safe queens.

nice type 3 clone!
xp41007 2 years ago
Thanks. The polytech legend is probably the closest you'll ever get to a Russian type
3.
esh325 2 years ago
Unless that was a legal, you shulda had a little full auto fun if ya know what I mean.
jamesdragonforce 2 years ago
It's 100% legal, it's a semi automatic rifle, no full auto. You're right though, I should have shot a little bit faster to make the video more interesting.
esh325 2 years ago
Damn socialist nazis are taking away our rights to carry. When I get my permit, I'd love to shove it in commie obama's face, not literally meaning shoving a gun in his face, that's a crime, especially since obama's ego would probably have me executed in the worst way possible. We need to beat the crap outta these nazi pricks that are taking away our guns with gun ban after gun ban and with the worst fallacy ever that 'guns cause crime'. Have you ever been to knob creek? I'd love to go some day.
jamesdragonforce 2 years ago

WOW a polytech legend...

This is a Chinese Polytech Legend, imo the best AK there is.
esh325 2 years ago
Not the best out there, but still nice.
WeiberWolf13 2 years ago
What would be better?
esh325 2 years ago
Not saying that the Polytech is bad cause i'm not,i like the Polytech, its a beautiful AK,just saying is not the "best" there is that's all
WeiberWolf13 2 years ago
I think it's the best AK you can buy in the US. Arsenal's are nice but you can't beat a gun that was made in the factory along side it's military cousins. The only AK I think MIGHT be better is a Valmet or Sako, but it's really hard to beat the quality of this rifle.
esh325 2 years ago
I have a Yugo M70b1 and before that i had a Romanian SAR-1.Not so thrilled over any thing make here in the US,everything we make sucks..TVs,cars,ect. all breaks down with 1-5 years
WeiberWolf13 2 years ago
Yeah it's really sad, American manufacturing is not what it use to be 50 years ago. The parts kits AK's generally have lower quality then the factory built ones.
esh325 2 years ago
All the great American gun companies have pretty much gone down the drain. Springfield Arsenal in Masschusets made amazing guns but they were closed down. Now there's Springfield Arsenal in Conneticut, but it's nothing like the old Springfield Arsenal, alot of there guns are really foreign made. Some Winchester operations pretty exsist only in Japan and Europe and Remington is not what it use to be.
esh325 2 years ago
What I really don't like about American gun makers is that everything is either a Mauser or and AR-15. There is very little originality to be found. There are a few good companies left(like Kimber for instance), but none of them are big enough to make a difference
Elementlmage 2 years ago
It's true almost every company pumps out AR15's and mausers. We don't need anymore AR15's. You could say the Chinese have zero originality when it comes to firearms, but atleast they make very good copies. I've never owned a Kimber 1911, but I have a .22 conversation kit done by Kimber and I was very impressed with the quality.
esh325 2 years ago
At least Boeing can still make a kick ass 747!
Elementlmage 2 years ago
Until some raghead hijacks it and flys it into a building..

Elementlmage 2 years ago
The Albanian AK's actually patterned off the Chinese made AK's, the Chinese gave the Albanian's the tooling make to them. The Czechs don't make AK's, they make VZ 58's which are similar, but not the same. I've never handled an Iranian AK so I can't say. As for the Russian one, I would say the Chinese one is better then most Russian AK's. The Chinese AK's have a thicker reciever, heavier barrel, better trigger, and better finish then the Russian made ones. Chinese AK's are very well made.
esh325 2 years ago
As for the Finnish AK's I hear they have the very best quality, so they might be better or on par with the Chinese ones but I can't say for sure. While the Russian's are the original, other countries have taken the design and made it better.
esh325 2 years ago
Here's a fun fact the Finns actually buy Chinese made AK's for their second line troops. So what does that say?
esh325 2 years ago
The Chinese AK is superior to the Russian AK.
I owned an Arsenal SGL-20, which is as close to a Russian AK-103 as you are going to get.
It was a $900 pile of shit. The front sight was canted, the gas block was canted, and the whole front trunnion was installed crooked.
My $400 Romanian was superior to that SGL-20.
And every single cheap-o MAK-90 I have ever seen has been excellent quality.
So, you can imagine how a preban Polytech would pretty much be the best you can get.
hydrashok556 2 years ago
I think the fact that SGL-20 wasen't good was because Arsenal might have did a poor job converting them. I bet the rifle in its unconverted state as a Saiga was a fine rifle. I avoid parts kits AK's or any AK's that have been modified by Americans. I've used alot of AK's and the Polytech Legend is indeed the best AK out there.
esh325 2 years ago
I agree.
I decided not to try my luck with non-Chinese AKs anymore and returned that SGL and got a Colt 6920.
I'm still looking for a deal on a preban Polytech side folder, though.

wow, gun looks sweet, love the dark color

esh325 2 years ago
Nice, mine is stamped, my buddy has the milled one, we shoot about the same, His jams a little when using the hollow points though, his tends to like the FMJ mine does not really care either way...
