  • Some believe healthcare is a right. Obama, we only have unalienable Rights. When these Rights are viewed through the prism of science (see my channel video), one will find they apply to all Life, from bacteria to humans, and Social systems, including Charles Darwin’s research; as in some Grand Unification principle for all Living-systems. Most understand the Laws of Nature trumps mortals in power; a new understanding of these Rights may help make this world a better place to live.

We do in fact have a right to life, and since the government was instituted to protect and maintain our individual and equal rights, the government has a legitimate constitutional interest in protecting and enhancing our right to life. Since we have equal rights to government assistance, and we have a right to life, we DO have a right to healthcare.

Government does not do healthcare only healthcare professionals.     No. All rights are equal. There are *however* unequal people. Some have considerably more power and ability. So when determining the constitutionality of a law, we must remember that "nothing is more unequal than equal treatment of unequal people". Rights were given to us by our creator, and they are equal. We are all the same type of animal with the same biological imperatives.

I take really good care of myself, because I don't want to fall under the "tender mercies" of the government's brand of "caring". God takes care of my health--my insurance policy is 1,243 pages long, and VERY comprehensive--covers everything.

They did have a fortune because of grants and foundations from wealthy people who didn't have to care about where their money was going, and the hospital was constantly drilling it into us that we were ALL fund-raisers, and that we should sell the hospital's "services and benefits".

  • My wife has spent half her life in Canada, and is also a disabled American veteran.  She likes the Canadian health care system but HATES the VA. I am also a disabled veteran but find that my status apparently no longer entitles her to health care because she is not quite able to qualify for Medicare. There is no reciprocity between Canada and US in this. All American veterans used to be entitled to full health coverage. Not anymore. Why can't we BOTH get good health care in the US???

  • @pr5021 I still haven't accepted the fact that the US Supreme Ct stopped the 2000 Florida vote recount, which if counted, would have have put Al Gore into the White House in 2001. The US would not have gone into Iraq, and Afghanistan might have been a small effort to just capture Osama bin Laden, who almost was captured early on.

    1) Bush borrowed money for tax cuts that overwhelmingly benefited the rich.

    Obama is ending those tax cuts for the rich.

    2) Obama signed into law SCHIP expansion extending health care coverage to millions of children of low income families.

    Bush fought the SCHIP expansion his whole time in office, even going so far as to veto it.

    1) Bush/GOP want supply side "trickle down" policy, which is "give more and more to those with the most and we'll all be better off" Obama wants to ensure a healthy & growing middle class. Ie" Bush/GOP are for the rich & the corporations. Obama works for ordinary citizens. eg: Obama saved taxpayers $63 billion per yr. by eliminating banks as unnecessary middlemen in student loans

  • @jayzook One of the founding principles in fiscal management isn't how much wealth you have, but how prudently you apply it; Bush inherited a budget surplus - a really easy state to manage. At that point, relaxing taxes wasn't a bad idea -- his administration (and the Republican controlled Congress of the time) applied the tax cuts unwisely, which resulted in a huge budget deficit. The proper thing to have done would have been to relax taxes gradually over several years.

However, I didn't run for public office on a platform of fiscal responsibility or constantly attack opponents for poor fiscal management. But we, the People, must learn to see this game for what it is rather than being pulled into it like suckers.

    Dividends are taxed at 15% on the top 4 brackets and is going to be taxed as income on all brackets in 2011.

  • @bkdmd Bush attempted to get dividends tax free. The policy he fought for was elimination of the tax on dividends. He succeeded in getting them reduced so that a wealthy person pays a lower tax on that income than a working person pays on income that may be only a fraction as much. The point stands - Bush/'GOP policies were for the rich.

    2- did you know on SNAP you can buy anything including junk food, energy drinks, chips, cakes, cookies.

    Did you know there is a much larger percentage of SNAP recipients who are obese and diabetics. Teddy Kennedy said he would always fight to make sure you can buy your twinkies with SNAP money.

    We need to incentivize positive behavior. People need to live within their means to expand their means.

    Investments needs to be incentivized and home ownership doesn't.

    So yes dividends are not income and shouldn't be taxed.

    I think we need to start taxing debt. If you are rich enough to afford debt for a car and a home and consumption, you are rich enough to pay a tax on that debt.

    Bush tax cuts were about the largest "cuts" in history, & their repeal would therefore be about the largest "hike", The claims about the coming of the largest tax increases all start with the calculation based on the repeal of ALL Bush tax cuts, which is highly unlikely since both em's & GOP are on board with repealing the tax cuts ONLY for those making more than $250K.

    Too bad it ignores the fact that it's demand that spurs economic activity and expansion. In times of flagging demand and economic uncertainty corporations (even the rich ones) typically close plants, reduce output, and lay off workers.

    There is a lot of excess production capacity in the U.S. A great many plants are operating at less than full capacity because the demand has not been there.

    To put it simply so even an idiot like you might begin to understand it (if you wanted to) a rich person will not build a widget factory if there is no demand for widgets. ON the other hand, if there is a demand for widgets some entrepreneur or company will build the plant even if they have to borrow the money to do so.

    - housing bubble collapse and the need for a stimulus package

    - reduced tax on dividends to 15%.

    The last 2 Bush tax cuts created a gross inequity where the rich w / high incomes from dividends & capital gains could pay far less tax than a working stiff making only a small fraction of that in salary.
