  • This is my favorite song by Gerry. I like Darin's version, .but this is best. Music of the 60s could be sheer magic and this is a perfect example. The pop music today is instantly forgettable mindless spoken jabbering over thumping or incontinent extended nasal wining. Why did it all go so wrong?

Nice to see poor Brian Epstein again-a really decent man, a real gentleman.

  • i like this song

  • heart surgeon

  • No wonder old people are deaf. If girls still screamed like that, I'm sure it would be an epidemic by now.

  • brian :DDDD

    <3!

  • wow

  • Jew and Scouse pie!

  • Dang, just show them a picture of one of The Beatles and they keel over. They`re all mad. LOL

  • @MrGlassoniongirl and thick as shit!

  • He moves his legs, holds his guitar and does facial expressions just like John Lennon. And that in no way is a shot at Gerry.

And Brian my be a "jewboy" but he sure did bring us the greatest band of all time

  • @nandor690 A lot of people played like that back in the day. It's much like all those death metal tools these days moving around like they're crab people. Look up "crab core", you'll see what I mean. John Lennon and the music of this era is uncompairable tho and will outlast any band out there today. And I've always though Brian Epstein seemed like such a devoted member of the band itself, and a nice guy. Like you said, he's somewhat responsible for the greatest band of all time.

  • I am also tired of reading or hearing about others drawing comparisons or associations between Gerry and the Pacemakers and the Beatles. That is like comparing Marlon Brando with Eddie Murphy in terms of acting ability. The only thing they shared was a manager Brian Epstein.

  • @psychlos21 I'm just talking about an era, not a genre. Don't twist my words. Not once did I compare the two.

  • My post was a general one and not directed at you. I erroneously replied to you. Sorry for the mis-understanding. I was making a general statement about what I sometimes hear from others. Not

you. I did like your mention of John Lennon by the way. Peace.

  • @psychlos21 No worries man. Cheers.

  • best ever

  • I think I hear a little "racist arrogance" from the local gentile on board.

  • 6 people didnt recognize their face

  • @48KERJA LOL!!!!

  • I'm 21. Good song :> but the girls scream too much. That's what it sounds like when a crowd is afraid of something. Usually a tsunami or earthquake. Or trying to escape something that will kill them. Do not like hearing those screams. ._.

  • Gay.

  • Though Beatles were the best, still sure that good British groups of 60-th Must NOT be forgotten.

Just kill me- if you disagree

  • I'll Be There by Bobby Darin, who also wrote it, was always the final tune played by DJ Bob Wooler at The Cavern........

  • aww liverpools own gerry marsden great man from this liverbirdxxxxxx

  • Both Elvis, and Bobby Darin, who wrote the song, did versions, but I think Gerry's is the strongest on this specific song.

  • Gerry always had and still has a great voice. He's singing a great song that if memory serves was written by the great Bobby Darin.

  • It is nice that Brian Epstein does get a bit of recognition since as Jack Jones said so eloquently, if it was not for Epstein, we would probably not have the the Beatles and the other groups that he sponsored and managed. He was responsible for "polishing" the Beatles in their early days and he had a lot to do with keeping them together and protecting them from their own fame. After he passed away, the group came apart. Paul (or John) referred him as the 5th Beatles in an interview. Thank you

  • I've seen Gerry in concert a few times now..always a great show. Love the Rickenbacker guitar played on the chest !!!

  • This is a great song they were the days ;-)

  • Gerry didn't lip sing this very well as you can tell in the video. :P

  • God those girls screaming is annoying

  • @slicknicknirvana rene laine

  • I've just realized teenage girls were as dumb than as they are now.

  • inspired the jacksons?

  • the singer and the song make me fall in love...

  • My facking ears

  • What's that screeching noise in the background?

  • What a voice!!!! so perfect.

  • For my 28yr old daughter only child diagnosed last wk with cancer.

  • @kaherakikami Thankyou for messij.First chemo over nxt one 29th June..Bless her she is coping well. Please keep praying we all are .

  • @julestheangel My wife is a cancer survivor. She was diagnosed in 2001 and thank God she is now cancer free. Your daughter is still very young and strong...I am pretty sure she will be alright.

  • @kaherakikami Hope you got messij. I am rubbish with computers, but bless you for the comments.

  • @julestheangel wow,so sorry to hear that,i wish her well god speed

  • i love this song & one of my favorite .thanks !!!!

  • Is this show called 'Hullabaloo'? lol Funny how the girls scream at pictures of Ringo and are then quiet when Gerry and the Pacemakers come on. Perhaps they were actually listening to the music. Great to see clips like this. If it weren't for YouTube some of us wouldn't have seen this stuff.

  • @sTeVie4TV: Hullabaloo makes the world go round!

  • I don't like how the light shadows the other players.

But I love this band! They were popular, but are still underated considering their talent. Especially by younger people today, just because they were an image of bubblegum.

Gerry has a magical voice!! :)

  • Witten by Bobby Darin, And Cass Elliot also did a version but I think Gerry did the best, always had a great voice.

  • i always lioved this group! a great song ..thanks

  • Sometimes...it is pleasant to recollect the 60th without The Beatles ...-

    Like the 30th without Stalin.

  • @45sub If you just view the Beatles as among many of the great bands that were around then, and ignore all the socio-political commentary on them, the recollections will be pleasant.

  • "I'll Be There" broke in America the Week of December 12, 1964 and over a ten week chart run climbed to #14 in the U.S.

  • great POP History from those Great sixties !!!!! wonderful ... more Please !!!!!! lyndloo...

  • I remember this song - thank you for posting this - it really is an important piece of history...it makes me feel better just listening to the British bands again. I wish there was more music like this now.

  • Amen!

  • this is great !!!! thanx so much for this treasure from the Great Gerry Marsden and The Pacemakers .. it brings back so many wonderful mems from the 60s' love it !!! Lyndloo..

  • This was such a great group.I think if they had longer hair and moved a little more I think they would have been bigger.Hullabaloo Was the cutting edge show of it's time.I would have liked to have had more of their records but only had money enough for Beatles records.I was only 9 at the time.

  • I think this was number one on the chum chart in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. If it wasn't - it should have been!

  • Imagine how proud Brian was to introduce his angel Gerry! How sweet! Love you both with all my heart. Can't wait til next gig Gerry, you are amazing. Not surprising Brian is so proud. You are both such charming gentlemen.

  • @eppygroupie they were gay?

  • in fact it is a piece of rock history.

  • hahaha his chin is practically resting on his guitar!!

    loooove it.

  • Beautiful song. It was the last chart hit of Gerry and the pacemakers and reached Nr. 16 in UK , April 1965. The Liverpool aera for most british bands was over then. A swan song. Simply beautiful.

  • i always play this song when i was in saudi....specially when i go back home...thanks for posting it

  • Brian Epstein was manager of both the Beatles and Gerry & the Pacemakers. Shortly after Hullabaloo went on the air, Mr. Epstein did these transatlantic telecasts for the show.

    Those were the days....

  • Dear Brian, what a charming man you are, love to see you again and again.

  • My wife and I just separated, and this was one of our favourite songs of all time....It reminds me of so many good times with my wife and now it just reminds me of getting dumped.....still Gerry's best....

  • It's still one of my very favorites by them. This sound is timeless

  • extremely charming

  • Thank you so much for posting!

I almost screamed as much as the other girls when the picture of Ringo, John, George and Paul came.

    Brian was so cool.

  • Tumbs up for finding this special clip.

Thumbs down for the audio cutting out-very annoying.

  • We always play and sing it with the guitar that time and it was my very fav. song until now i like gerry and all of hissong thanks for posting johnpaul

  • Great tune written by Bobby Darin

  • Gerry and The Pacemakers. They were great!

  • iamjohn89, It was 3 weeks ago and I am pleasantly surprised by your addtional explanation.

  • The screaming is so funny...

  • This positioning of the guitar at chest-level became a fad for some who played the rhythm guitar, while most who played lead and bass guitars found it practical to position their guitars at waist-level (the traditional way).

  • yeah john lennon used to hold his rickenbacker really high up aswell

  • I've noticed in his videos he holds his guitar so high up and he uses a strap hahaha, when others didn't. I guess it was too big and heavy for him.

  • Awesome! I've got this 45 somewhere....

  • All this time, I thought this was a beatles song. I'm glad I found this video. Thanks for posting!

  • I bet you did not know the Jackson Five did it also

  • Same title but not the same song w9x7!!

  • Bobby Darin real name...Robert Cassotto

born in The Bronx, New York USA

    Wrote this song.... my favourite...

    Gerry and The Pacemakers recording.

  • NO Music will EVER replace the 60s British invasion,Nor will any year Now or future replace the beautifull time and feeling. I wish we could go back and freeze 1964 forever. Also here in America we had some damn great groups as well.

  • Die Musik ist ja total cool, aber der Typ ist doch voll die Bratze - wieso kreischen die Weiber so ? Vielleicht haben sie Angst, dass sie ihn irgendwann mal besteigen müssen...hehehe

  • This is my favorite Gerry & the Pacemakers song

  • The best.

  • BOBBY DARIN wrote this great song.

  • I saw Gerry live a few weeks ago at Santa Monica Pier. I was so suprised how good they are and Gerry can sing really good live and has a very strong voice. He is worth seeing.

  • Yes, I agree with TanaDrake...this clip is a slice of musical history. And I too think "I'll Be There" is my fave song by Britain's very own Gerry Marsden & The Pacemakers. I'm sure I must have seen this on Channel 7 (in NYC) back in `65. Being 15 I could stay up til 10pm~~~whoooooaaaa!

  • Lovely ol' Eppy. What a gent.

  • Truely one of the great performers in the 60's that showed the British invasion was GREAT..............

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! This is my favorite Gerry & the Pacemakers song (composed by Bobby Darin, and recorded by him in 1960 or 1961). And with the introduction by Brian Epstein--this is a historical treasure!!!
