the layer infront is called dark matter. Dark matter doesn't move and is indestructable. By making the bolt turn the oposite way, the material in BACK of the DM turns opposite.

a directional switch icon is in the grab tool.

Because the wheel is behind the antigrav, not infront. Clockwise will spin the antigrav clockwise (as it's the front material), spinning the wheel in the opposite direction.

Kind of like if you glued down the back wheel of a bike and started pedalling, the frame would rotate backwards.

@Darkistix you have to think pretty hard. Motor bolts spin the object in front according to the object in the back. So spinning a car wheel clockwise when its in front will result in clockwise spinning. Spinning anti-grav material in front clockwise will spin the metal in the back counter-clockwise, because anti-grav material can't move.
