  • bad cover..nothing else

  • Just a different take on this song. There is only one Peter Green. But Lindsey trys hard. I love his guitar style. But it aint blues.

  • yes I love them, but def. prefer the Priest version of this song—it rOcKs

  • This isn't the best version of this song. But keep in mind that in 1975, FM were just starting to regain their footing with a stable line-up after 5 years of chaos. At this point, they couldn't go out and just play the white FM album from start to finish. So they had to fill out the live show with a few oldies, and Manalishi was always a live favourite. One oldie from this show that sounds great is Station Man from Kiln House.

  • Priest's version rules....

  • Don't know why people have to debate Buckingham/Green. So childish. Different people, both AMAZING and part of the FM legacy. This is a great version, but my favorite is the Boston LIVE version, but this is one of the few we actually have video with. Nice, and thanks for posting.

  • get stevie nicks, lindsey buckingham, and christine mcvie off that stage. they are in a way the embodiment of everything that song is trying to speak against. money, commercialism, etc. plus they put a disgusting bubble-gum vibe to the whole thing

  • @boomhauer15 Might want to go to a doctor, your head seems well and truly stuck up that backside of yours

  • I've heard a lot worse live performances(in general) than this. It's probably more the production than anything else for the lack of quality in this youtube.

Overall, Stevie Nicks/Lindsey Fleetwood Mac did a good fresh version here. I've read Lindsey saying he never felt that he should have done any Peter Green stuff; so, I'm a little surprised to see this..

Further note, this version has lots more potential than what Judas Priest did with it!

  • @oker59

Mic Fleetwood is always a pleasure to watch; you have to see him live to appreciate what he's doing!

  • Talk about stripping the soul out of a song, and the guitar work? if thats what you want to call it.. is pretty embaressing, i feel sorry for people that enjoy this version over the original with Greeny.. like this poor person below me hahaha

  • @clikityclak As a general principle, I think any live recording where the drummer has a gong onstage is better avoided and Lindsay isn't the vocalist that Peter Green was, but no one can really criticize either Green or Buckingham as guitarists. I do like that Cristine's playing is high in the mix here. Not too fond of Stevie's bit at the end though. I understand what they were going for, but she sounds like she had a sore throat that day.

  • @clikityclak Yep, Peter Green was the boss of this

  • pooooh shit in my ears bring green back

  • Lindsey isn't quite psycho enough; i would have liked to hear Stevie Nicks give the verses her witch's treatment.

  • Never knew they did this song live w? Lindsey and Stevie. I know they did Oh Well. Wow. Not a bad version.

  • Props to Lindsey for taking a stab at this......

  • jaja parece judas pero en camara lenta!! que buen trabajo lo de judas haciendo un cover de este tema!!!

  • Who gave the ok to perform Peter Greens music?

  • @tvisbad47 probably mr.fleetwood pushed for this to be played on tour...he's on the record for lovin greeny.and i saw an interview of him talking about how he would take freinds (as if, oh no he's at it again) who would come over his house down to his studio and just play old demo's and live recordings of greeny. but hey, what happened happened.but yeah, this is a pretty lame version if your compairing them..........but i dont see why they cant play fleetwood mac songs...peter gave them the name

  • This conveys none of the menace and fear of Peter Green's original. It isn't even well-performed.

  • Face it, in '75, FM was a group in transition. Some attendees were there because of the HUGE new album. Others because they'd long been fans from Green's era. Any group in similar circumstances would bridge the gap and offer cuts for both, in the process maybe win older fans over to the new, and introducing new fans to old Mac's GREAT stuff too. "Buckingham and Nicks no business being on stage during this song?" Who'll sing/play guitar, John McVie? This Mac version intro'd me to Old Well..

  • Blasphemy. Buckingham and Nicks have no place even being on stage while this song is being performed.

  • Check out the 74 version with Bob Welch singing (It's on YouTube too) it's great!

  • Classico... Perfect Music ... Judas Priest acertou em fazer a version

  • Oh well...if you don't like them, don't listen. BTW....why would you even be here if it "sucks"?

  • @KyHazard

Curiosity. I like Fleetwood Mac, I like Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac better. To me, they're two different bands.

  • @s14sher 2 totally different bands. I agree. I had never heard the song until I saw this video. Becuase of this video I will now go back to Green's version and check it out. The issue is not perfection of this song. The issue is did they do it well enough to peak interest in the original. Example: Dixie Chicks, Landslide -terrible. BUT... it peaked enough interest that people went BACK to the FM version. Yeah, this may have not been amazing, but it was a gateway to the GREEn Fleetwood Mac.

  • Fleetwood Mac died when Peter left and the ashes were spat upon by those two women.

  • Peter Green was an inspired rock-and-roll genius--this is not the genuine article. Lindsey Buckingham was a competent mechanic, resucitating the old big block motor of a broken down band and turning it into a sanitized Hotel California arena juggernaut. His considerable skills at guitar, production, and general rock-n-roll politics are no substitute for the dark and troubled wellspring that makes Peter Green's catalogue so compelling.

  • The video is a nice record of the way they looked in 1975. The audio has no merit whatsoever--other than it keeps the video from being a silent picture.

  • @patronanejo Yeah, the sound at the late, great Capital Center always sucked, made for terrible recordings. The original version is undoubtedly the best, with Priest's rendition coming in a distant second. Lindsey should have left well enough alone, but.....

  • true.this version lacks the spark of greenie's sound.

  • Cool version. Buckingham's vocals are better than Green's. Buckingham's guitar isn't the edge that Green's was, but whose guitar is? Buckingham is competent and more. Mick and Mac still nail it. Christine's keys are great. Stevie looks kinda cute (understatenment) when she dances. I wish she didn't warble on this at the end, but you can't have everything.

  • @brianjoyful Right. Get abusive with folks that disagree with you.

  • Wild stuff!

  • I love Peter Green, but I also appreciate that someone actually has footage of THIS lineup taking on this kind of material!

  • My god, this is a travesty. What right do these pretenders have to perform this song?

  • As someone who is hearing this song for the first time I found it to be impressive. I enjoyed it. Not everything has to be overdone. Not everything has to be screaming guitars and exactly the way it was done originally. It was fantastic and I enjoyed it. As for being the fourth chipmunk... I would venture to guess she has made more money than you could ever count, my friend. She is the Rock Queen and who are you? @larrysmac LOL HAHAHAA!

  • Sucks. Peter Green's OG version is way better. But Way better than that is Judas Priest's AWESOME cover. That's the real Green Manalishi in my opinion.

Stevie looks hot here though... :)

  • Wow.........Stevie Nicks before she discovered Golden Corral buffets!

  • Before they became megastars, post-Welch Fleetwood Mac was just as this footage depicts-a rudderless entity being captained by the foreman of the engine room (Mick) with a SoCal acoustic duo tossed out front as an act of sheer desperation. I think this video is a fascinating snapshot of the exact moment before the over-done turkey turned out instead to be the rising Phoenix---some commenters should maybe lighten up a little; they sound a little like Babylon 5 nerds !

  • dreadful, they should have played their own songs. You can't recreate the triple guitars that they had on the original with one guitarist and a keyboard player, it just doesn't have the same feel.

  • Well, that's a sleepy version. An extra guitar would have helped. I'm not offended, but it definitely lacks the energy of the original. Clearly this song was performed in the transition period when the Buckingham/Nicks version of the band was taking shape, and they didn't have enough material to play an entire concert (plus this song was standard fare in the Welch version of the band, it's not completely off the wall). Fleetwood and J. McVie sound good though.

  • How did this happen?

  • This version of FM always sucked! They should've called themselves, "Fleetwood Mac Sells Out." I still refuse to recognize them as FM, just as the US refused to recognize Red China. As for Stevie Nix: She's always sounded like the fourth chipmunk before Alvin & the Chipmunks became a "power trio."

  • Judas priest rocked this song, this version is pretty good. Who wrote this song?

  • @alanbmx321 peter green

  • Dear God, I liked Lindsey better before he dared touch this song. The irony of them performing a song that was written as a metaphor for the evils of money in a big arena called the "Capitol Center" merely accentuates the utter wrongness of it all.

  • Linsey Buckingham has no business singing Peter Green's signature song and doing such an awful job. His guitar work is amateurish compared to Green. Its a totally abomination ! The fact that John McVie and Mick Fleetwood participated in it just show their lack of class. Stevie Nicks wailing at the end is laughable !

  • The beginning of the end musically but not short term cash wise. Shocking how McVie and Fleetwood would sell out Green's masterpiece.

  • Cool being able to see Stevie, Lindsay, and Christine all performing this. I've often wandered if they kept Green's songs in their set during the buckingham-nicks period. Thanks for posting. Great video.

  • Never knew this version of Mac did Green Manalishi. Interesting. I don't hate it, but it doesn't have the dark fire of PG's version. What's with Stevie's caterwauling at the end?

  • I like both Fleetwood Macs, but this is pretty awful.

  • tears!

  • Thank god that Fleetwood Mac gave a good framework of a song, but thank god JP made it into a great song to last a lifetime!!!

  • best thing about this version is Stevie shaking her sexy ass in front of Mick. how does he stay focused??

  • This version SUCKS. like milk instead of Whiskey.

    Greenie's version is on fire.

  • @EclecticDiscus

I find this version superior. By far, Lindsey is a better vocalist. And there's nothing Green does on guitar in the original that Lindsey doesn't. His solo near the end is exceptional.

  • No comparison to the original FM with Greenie. Actually this kinda sucks

  • wow this cool!!!

  • I love the JP version too - I grew up with that version.

But this has a lowdown voodoo style that I really like. I'd have to give the FM version the edge on sheer style points.

  • Like this jam? Listen to Judas Priest version with Rob Halford. It blows this away.

  • Better yet, look up a version with Peter Green singing and playing guitar.
