Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) ~ Secondary PTSD is not a disorder which is recognized by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (as of the fourth edition). It also will not be in the 5th edition which comes out in 2013. My PTSD doctor is a member of the board and she stated that it is not recognized as of 2013.. USA Doctors must use this manual.
Correct, secondary PTSD is a name that is given, its not a diagnosis. Never was... its just a name, like complex PTSD, like combat PTSD, etc... all forms of PTSD are actually ONLY PTSD, that is the only official diagnosis that exists.
The reason that this happens is because "PTSD" is actually an Acquired Brain Injury as a result of a severe metabolic disruption that's not being diagnosed or treated properly. See my videos for further information.
I'm just found your videos and this one hit me. I'm with a man who has chronic ptsd. He's been suffering since 1981 and found help 3 years ago. I don't believe in the help he is getting. We're together now 2 years and I'm afraid I am showing signs of 2nd ptsd. I was never able to put a name to it. We are strugeling in this relationship because of the ptsd. For his kind of long term ptsd he believes there is no help out there for him. Is this true? Can you point us in the right direction?
How does that work? I got ptsd from life threatening shit. Thats how you get it... How does that secondary thing work? Im just confused and curious. Big smiles!
