Keith Moon was an interesting character. Very talented in an unusual way as he smashes the drums some how producing a beat that makes the who, THE WHO. RIP Keith John Moon.
At :49 keith is probably lookin at roger and sayin is his head, " ok seriously dude stop takin my fuckin cymbal and smashin it everytime we play my generation"
I met Keith in "The Blue Moon", in Cheltenham and I've seen lots of drummers since. In my opinion, NONE were or are as good as Keith was at that young age. Today's musicians are crap by comparison, they are not hungry enough and get far more for putting in far less effort and that's not just drummers, all musicians today need to give more for what they get.
im 57 when i was 13 i was looking for someone with the same style of playing Bingo we were a match balls out on every note had a hard time fiitin in with many players but i had 20 yrs of playing and living like keith sad thing he passed and i didnt but im still that same guy and some day i will see my childhood twin.
Why Moon was better than bonzo is because moon is a better drummer cause of his unique style he looks like he's all over the place but he keeps it together plus Moon @john work together watching townsends lead.Plus Moons showmanship and banter on stage made him very uniqe. There will never be another Moon. When saw them in concert in 1976 is was the greatest show i have ever seen and i'v seen them all back then.Pink floyd is good in concert also.Zeppelin is overrated there average live.
Yes.Robert plant has said on the russell hardy show in england in 1972 that Kieth Moon is the greatest drummer of that time between 1967-1974.After that he started slipping.I think moving to malibu CA hurt him bad he got in the heavy party seen. When the Who made Who are you he was not the same.
seriously? thats amazing, i love zep but the who are the best band of all time, in my opinion. iv had countless arguments about who was better moon or bonzo, i always argue keith and if what your saying is true, i have another argument booster lol why was robert talking about keith anyway? do you know where i could read/see the inteview?
because one night Zepp was in concert and moon showed up and plant yells to the auedeince Kieth Moon everybody.russel hardy had plant as a guest and ask him about moon crashing his concert and that's they starterd talking about Moon and plant said exact words.IF THERE IS ANYBODY WHO INTERUPPS A CONCERT IT MIGHT AS WILL BE THE GREATEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD.Bonzo did more solo's,but if you to drummer world Moon say's in his bio he did not like doing solo's he did 1 with the goldfish.
Besides not getting to see the Beatles my biggest regret is not getting to see Moon live with the Who. I had a chance to see the Who in 1980 but seeing the Who with Kenny Jones (no offense) would be like seeing the Stones with Howard Jones singing in place of Jagger. Jones was so antiseptic and rigid in place of the creative frenetic energy of
yes he took too much of his heminevrin, which was prescribed to him to supress his appetite for drinking, unfortunately this particular doctor did not know Keith had a bad habit of over-doing it w/ everything & he gave moon a full bottle & Keith was found to have taken about 20 or so most of which were still undigested when they did his autopsy. i think he was only suppose to take like 4-6 a day or something like that..
Moons erratic undisciplined style was what made him so great and tough to duplicate. His drumming was very much an extension of his personality.Real ,uncontrived, spastic and beautiful.
Very well said. I would only add, and probably get yelled at for doing so, that these things made him a great drummer with The Who. It's amazing that he was so limited as a musician, but so groundbreaking and perfect with them. Peace.
I had the privelage to see him live back in 1977 his antics alone on stage and the energy that the Who had has made them the greatest live band to this day and i have seen them all zepplin floyd stones
My God. I've been to the same concerts at the same place. Small world. You and I may have seen each other 30+ years ago. Amazing shows. Nothing like it out there now.
Keith Moon's drumming was known for being very loud, fast, and all over the place!!! When Keith first played with the Detour's, Roger described the sound of his druming was like a jet engine, so it would probaly sound pretty bad with a band like the Beach boy's, even though Keith first played in a Beach boy like band called the Beachcombers.
Yes, I completely agree man, I was only joking - can you imagine Keith as drummer for the Beach Boys or Simon Garfunkel! Keith used to threaten Townshend that he would leave the who and become the drummer for his idols the Beach Boys. I found this hilarious! The idea that these perfectly crafted clean cut American boys with their perfect harmonies, but this this British monster on drums behind them
- that Keith thought this was a good idea is the funniest thing I've heard. Keith was a genius drummer, the best ever.
PS I actually live round the corner from Townshend, here on Richmond Hill. I've met him in the street once but he was difficult to talk to - not a people person. Shame Keith isn't around, I always heard he was very kind to fans (I'm not saying Pete isn't, I just probably caught him on a busy day)
John Bonham was also a great drummer. You ever listen to Moby Dick? The guy could flat out play. Keith Moon is good too, but John Bonham was deserving of all the credit he gets. He was sick man. I have a background in music and I am an experienced drummer. I recommend you listen to one of the live Moby Dick recordings.
moby dick is just repatative triplets. people just thought it was amazing cause it sounded fast. its nothing special. john didnt really do anything special other than moby dick. all of his songs are easy to play on drums. keith was sooo much harder to replicate than bonham.
i agree that Bonham was excellent, as were Led Zep. But I do think Keith Moon was unique, he is the Jimi Hendrix of the drums and is impossible to copy and hence why he never has been. He was on fire at the Isle of Weight, 1970.

I think you are all have been getting into the retard cookies. Keith wasnt that good. Ill give it to him that he was indeed revolutionary, and for his time he was great, but he certainly is not the greatest of all time, especially with all of the bad asses today that would floss with him. Now get all pissed and start cussing me out like every other crazy Keith Moon fan because that seems to be the trend with you freaks. R.I.P Mr. Moon, your drumming sounds better when you are dead.

Long Live The Greatest Drummers Of All Time, Like The Legendary Keith Moon!!!!!!!!
To everyone who says Neil Peart and John Boham are better.... Keith did it first. Sorry, but nothing can change that, besides he is an influence to all those great drummers. He was the best.
Kith Moon did what buddy rich did but took it to the next level, all others such as Bonham and pert offer us something different completely however moon was first and opened all the doors for the others, but please lets not forget Phil Collins
Yes, he took the jazz drumming to rock, but what i meant is that Ringo did´t, Watts did´t, Avory (kinks) either, Moonie did it; and Phil Collins, Boham, almost every drummer in the world are abvously influenced by Keith
must agree with matei16,what he may have lacked in technique,he made up with being a top fucking laugh and boozer.Neil Peart is good but drinking tea and talking drums all day is a bit fucking boring.Moon is an icon that sadly killed him but will be remembered long after Peart.xxx
Thank you so much for this. I have spent a good chunk of my life just trying to learn and appreciate as much as I can about this man. Keith Moon is a huge part of my life, and being a musician myself, his rhythmical stylings have changed the way I write and arrange my music. He's very important to me musically, and if I could meet any dead person in history, it would be him. Thank you for letting me know he hasn't been forgotten.
Rest in peace, Keith. I wish you'd made better decisions.
it very hard to say he died only due to sedatives and alcohol mixture...someone reported heroin and other chemical shit...it was the end of the Who. Also John Entwistle died for heart attack after a similar cocktail...musicians are strange persons, taking in light care life and the most important things
keaith moon was the who, dear boy you wear just your self,i meet keith and john bonham may years ago in the same room, when they wear visting viv from the bonzos at his country home, rip peace keith, john, viv xxx

To everyone who says Neil Peart and John Boham are better.... Keith did it first. Sorry, but nothing can change that, besides he is an influence to all those great drummers. He was the best.
LONG LIVE ROCK!

Kith Moon did what buddy rich did but took it to the next level, all others such as Bonham and pert offer us something different completely however moon was first and opened all the doors for the others, but please lets not forget Phil Collins
whosboy 3 years ago 2
Yes, he took the jazz drumming to rock, but what i meant is that Ringo did´t, Watts did´t, Avory (kinks) either, Moonie did it; and Phil Collins, Boham, almost every drummer in the world are abvously influenced by Keith

neil peart shits on keith moon on the weekdays and then farts in the face of portnoy for the fun of it (part time) on the weekends.

must agree with matei16,what he may have lacked in technique,he made up with being a top fucking laugh and boozer.Neil Peart is good but drinking tea and talking drums all day is a bit fucking boring.Moon is an icon that sadly killed him but will be remembered long after Peart.xxx

keith moon had a ton of technique! and oh my god i can not even express my hate towards rush! moonie kicks peart's ass anyday!

I wish you'd made better decisions.

wildest, craziest, hes only the best drummer ever!!!!!!!!!
benjaher 4 years ago
it very hard to say he died only due to sedatives and alcohol mixture...someone reported heroin and other chemical shit...it was the end of the Who. Also John Entwistle died for heart attack after a similar cocktail...musicians are strange persons, taking in light care life and the most important things
gorgiak 4 years ago
He had so many close call before, when he died Roger
was the first to tell Pete the bad news by saying......"Well, he's finally done it!" Sad ending to a colorful life.
