@elvein1 I have a nice stash of learn Sanskrit books - about half of them in English. The other good ones are written in Thai, Indonesian and Hindi. Many students of Sanskrit in other places have passed on different Sanskrit learning materials that they've picked up from Universities around the world.
Oh wow..ure such a role model! I live in Thailand and I'm Indian too..Not half Aussie thou..but we study in international school so English is almost native to us. My grandfather spoke 9 languages...Sadly I never had a chance to learn much from him while he was alive...but he is still my encouragement. :)
I'm learning my 6th language (Spanish) now and I think I should consider adding Burmese to the the list as we also have a Burmese worker at home.
@AnanyaVilas That's brilliant. Burmese shouldn't be too hard for you - the same base sound system as Indian languages and the grammar is amazingly simple and logical. If you go to Chula bookstore, you will find a great book in Thai - about A4 size, yellow / creamy coloured cover with red writing ภาษาพม่า. One of the best books I've found so far to learn Burmese. Would be great to chat when I'm in town.
indonesian and malay, should be considered one language with two different accents. urdu and hindi, should also be considered one language except for having different scripts. so he can only speak 13 languages.
I'm studying Linguistics at UQ with Russian and Japanese. I can speak English, Japanese and Venetian really well, and I've studied German, Icelandic, Mandarin, Czech, Slovene, Italian, Spanish, French, Dutch and Afrikaans to different levels. Considering I'm born and bred in Australia, I'm proud of what I could force my brain to accomplish... But you are amazing man. Seriously.
Karen isn't fluent by any stretch yet - but can communicate in it... thanks to our maids / nanny. They speak Pwo. The best book I've found on both Pwo and Sgaw are actually all in Japanese - nevertheless, they're pretty decent.
Here is Nald from Hong Kong. I also learnt lot of languages from around the world. Danish and Norweigian and Swedish are almost the same, same for Bahasa Indonesia vs Malay. I think you should take seriously the suggestion from other youtuber and try French.
Esse é o cara...that´s the man. however .Portuguese would be a bit tough for him to learn , i believe! he really transalate it fine in Spanish, as far as i concerened.
Are u kidding me? try to read a little more about ALL the countries where you can speak french, belgium, canada, monaco, etc, etc, etc.... Le français c'est une langue très jolie et très interessant... saluts.. desde venezuela.. jeje
here i thought i was special with 3 ( well learning russian - my third ) and hopefully #4 with shoshonee indian . i feel humbled by you and other polyglots of the world. its a gift.
haha. political correctness is DEFINITELY not present where I was in Asia. There languages are sometimes not very euphonizable. A lot of the times very blunt.
dumb is a not-to-common word used for people who, for whatever reason, cannot make the sounds necessary for speech. It is not meant derogatorily (thought it most likely was originally), but I don't know if there is now a more politically correct word for people who cannot speak.
This guy is either a very smart man or a charlatan. I lean towards the latter. He has learned to speak the very basics of some languages and not too well. It is very easy to impress a group of people by blabbering a few words in each language, but fluency is a very different thing. Evidently, he is quite full of himself and quite arrogant, as the self interviews show. He is a business man and I am not impressed. I have seen waiters in southern Europe speak 5 or 6 languages with the customers.
How are you sure of that? Do you speak some and/or all of the languages he speaks or asked people who speak them? From his videos I am certain he speaks at least 2 languages fluently, because those are the ones I'm familiar with. Also, how certain are you that he only speaks the very basic of those some languages?
Are you out of your mind? Is your Thai so good that you could go on a TV show and answer questions coming at you rapid fire? How is he just "speaking the basics" of Thai? As you can see, he's not just saying "I'm hungry" and "Thank you." He's making some fairly complex statements. How many languages do you speak, by the way?
하이루 ! 메시지를 감사합니다 :) I wouldn't say I speak Korean. Actually, Korea is one country that I travel to reasonably regularly and feel like a duck out of water. I can read Hangul and taught myself to type it years ago. I can also recognise where many of the non 'uri mal' words have come from in Middle Chinese - so understand a lot of signs etc. I would definitely like to spend more time learning Korean.
Interesting, you must have spent some time on korean internet too since 하이"루" can't be seen except on the internet.. you are the man of inspiration!! :D
Da jeg var paa skolen vi havde mange udveksling studenter fra skandinavisk lander - Danmark, Norge, Sverige - og nogle venner som har blevet udveksling studenter pa danmark. Vi alle talede paa skandinaviske sproger hindanden :)
So you could learn similar languages very quickly, for example, German, because of similarities in Swedish and Danish language, and because of the techniques you use to memorize meanings?
Never been in a situation that I've had to really use it. Lately, I've gone through the first Pimsleur series and a few other books in Portuguese - it's a matter of putting my situation that would make me use it now.
Need a very good memory to be able to speak so many languages. As soon as I started learning Thai my Japanese went out the window. I can only keep ability with practice otherwise it fades away. 15 language speaking ability... wow!
Morse code is not a 'language'. It's an alphabet at most. And 'sign language' is too vague - there are many forms of sign language, which are often mutually incomprehensible.
What did you use to learn Sanskrit?
My heart aches for me to know this language.
Please:)
