  • My dad was born in GY in 1918 and it made him sad every time we came back to visit family. I remember the south denes caravan camp in the 1960's and having holidays there.

  • i live there LOVE YARMOUTH

  • joyland was from the 50's!!! i love it there! they still have the snails ride...... one of my favourites!

  • Amazing video! I live in Norwich and goto Yarmouth alot. Doesn't seem like people enjoy thereselves now like they used to.

  • I went there as a kid, all the way from Wales, in 1965, 67, & 69 ; saw some big stars there : Eric & Ernie , who were DOWN the bill under Mike & Bernie Winters at the time, Mike Yarwood, Engelbert Humperdinck, Dora Bryan

  • I love that the Snails in Joyland have been stood there all this time, along with the rollercoaster at Pleasure Beach

  • I Live here, what the hell happened :(

  • @annissman Us lot in Lowestoft are wondering exactly the same.

  • What a fabulous video. As a kid growing up in Norwich, we often used to go to Great Yarmouth on a Sunday outing. I remember loving to ride on the Snails and the brief shot of the Gypsy fortune teller is still a familiar face to me. I loved the Roller coaster, even if it was a bit scary, it still stands today I believe.I live in South Africa now, but I have such fond memories of an East Anglian childhood.

  • Loved this vid, thanks for posting!

  • It's such a different place these days.. but still worth a visit! Would have loved to have gone there back in those days, though..

  • I wanna go on the 'please secure your valuables' ride!

What a perfect little video. Go Yarmouth!

  • Not much has changed

  • no blacks or kosos enoch powell was right look at this place now!

  • this rollercoaster was used in the madness video house of fun

  • Anachronism!!! Tom Arnold is mentioned in this video!!

  • I used to go there quite a lot as a child in the sixties.

    Happy days!

  • Haha you can still go on the snails! :)

  • Yeah the Joyland snails are still there, not changed that much really!

  • i love going to great yarmouth every year on holiday would like to move there

  • greay yarmouth and blackpool, the kings of britain by far

  • I loved the snails in Joyland (1:40)

I never did get to go on tandem!

What a great video!! Thanks for posting it.

  • I was born in Great Yarmouth, yay.

  • gutted mate.

  • wow this is awesome!

  • Now its desolate, faintly intimidating at night, a bit depressing and a bit of a ghost town. But its in an area of beautiful broads, rivers, streams and lovely places to walk. Which is better? I'm not sure. All I know is you walk for 5 minutes beyond the ASDA store and you find yourself in a wonderworld of nature. I like that!

  • It's changed. Millions have been spent on the golden mile and it is much better than the tacky town it was becoming now.

  • I remember going on these rides in the late 60s as a child and they looked like that then! great! and seeing Yarmouth as well, how I loved that place with mum and dad! God bless em,

  • Me too!

  • i surely am the only american in great yarmouth!

  • Fabulous video. I was there in December 1951 in a Pantomime of Cinderella. We stayed on Regent Street. I recognize the shop selling bloaters. have never been back since as I now live in the USA. Probably if I did go back I would not recognize anything anymore as I am sure everything has changed

Thanks so very much for posting this

  • yeah, its shit now dude, trust me i can't wait to follow in your footsteps :)

  • This video is brilliiant! Anymore? South Denes was the caravan site by the fair!
