  • simply GREAT!... this is an amazing performance, gives me goosebumps

  • it's the truth..........

  • don't mess with Texas...........

  • " love is all we have to give or accept"

  • he makes you feel every note on any thing he plays. i love this MAN r.i.p. stevie

  • I believe he was a child of God, loved Jesus, and is with Him now. Feel free to spread that truth any day...just saying.

  • happy birthday Stevie Ray!

  • I love the solo in this song.

  • Beautifull song ! Stevie is AWESOME !

  • I think stevie had the strongest hands in the history of rock. at 03:43, when hes just bending that one string, he bends the 4th fret up to the 9th! As a guitarist myself, let me tell you, that's ridiculously hard even on a guitar with regular gauge strings like 10's. Stevie used 13's! He could probably throttle a t-rex with strength like that.

  • this man, played the shit outta a guitar

  • Angels have waited so long for you Stevie. How could you know?

  • Stevie's last words: "hey is my hat in the way?"

  • @SirEricShin What do you mean, in that way?

  • Respond to this video... How long was this before he crashed?

  • when SRV recorded this song he had no idea how many lives he would touch!!!! this song means so much to me and has taken on new meaning since i 1st heard it and as the years go passing by ive lost so many people, friends and family along the way but i find comfort thru this song that theyre all in a better place and listening to SRV wail this song somewhere up there!! GOD BLESS YOU STEVIE AND THANK YOU FOR THE LOVE YOU PASSED OUR WAY THRU YOUR MUSIC!!! GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU ALWAYS!!!

  • Was at SRV's last show at Alpine Valley, Wisc. I haven't been the same since we lost Stevie Ray.

  • @Starsk25 I was at that show too. No ones soul resonated through their guitar playing like Stevie's did.

  • I think the big difference between great guitarists like SRV, Jimi Hendrix, Clapton, John Frusciante and John Mayer is that all of them but Mayer play from their heart and not for commercial aims. John Mayer has skills but he does everything to please his 14-year-old female fans....

  • So much emotion in his style, floors me every time,

  • quit haten hofflander, let people express themselves and their faith if they like, who said your input was worth anything?

  • fenderstrat918 "LIKE". luv.

  • fenderstrat918 "LIKE". luv.

  • WHERE IS THIS? WHERE IS HE PLAYING?? NEED TO KNOW ASAP

  • @Ilovebeefroxmypants this was august 26 1986 it was a month before he collapsed and got help for his problems and a day before his father died before the show started his mom called him and told him about it and this was in memphis tennessee on the american caravan with lonnie mack....i hope this answers your question :)

  • the sound of heaven

    the master

  • i cried from my penis

  • I've started to preplan my funeral service, and while everyone is gathered talking to people who they haven't seen in years, this is going to be playing.

  • Legend. Play for us Stevie.

  • g# major ?

  • @sarp06er

it is in E i think but i'm not sure at all

  • It's the truth he says HA!!! awesome

  • qué guitarra lleva srv?

  • Proof that only the good die young! R.I.P. SRV!!!

  • For what it's worth in the auto biography of his life there is an occurrence mentioned that SRV had with a pastor. He spent a lot of time speaking with this pastor. The pastor said that one night SRV prayed with the pastor to accept Christ. If you believe in this then that is good news for yourself. If God is real then that is great news for SRV. This happened not long before he died.

  • @apexnine not true.

  • @ellbee2

I suppose you would have to take what the pastor said as truth. It was the pastor's recounting of his time spent with him up to the day he died. I read this biography when I was 14. I am 32now. I honestly cried when I had finished the book realizing just what a great master he was and what a good man the world had lost on this day.

I wasn't bringing my faith in to anything here. I have no faith for religion of any kind. I just thought ppl might want to know that tid bit.

  • Can you please leave your faith in god/god's to yourself,it's Stevie's hard work, determination and love for music that makes this.

  • @hofflander Second that... it's like thanking god when a fireman saves someone out from a burning house... the only miracle there is the fireman's courage and determination...

  • @hofflander like the sign said's don't mass with Jesus

  • Wow been a stevie fan for 15 years and never heard this WTF?Too me this is majic, and an inspiration to make me a better person.:D

  • where is this does anyone know?

  • this is beautiful

  • words of wisdom from a wise man... we miss you Stevie Ray

  • Stevie said it perfectly . . . Noone can say it better than that right there, we lost an amazing philosopher of a guitarist

  • awesome song! awesome played..and awesome vocals

  • God bless Stevie. Life without you has been made easier knowing that your music will never die. I watch theses videos and remember like it was yesterday and not 1985. My girlfriend and I had tickets to see Eric Johnson @ Steamboat in Austin, Texas on August 27th 1990. I was stoked until I woke up that morning and KLBJ Radio was playing SRV and they said he had been killed. Epic blow. Eric Johnson, with grace and humility of a true friend paid homage that night. I will never forget.

  • God Bless SRV, Ive been feeling down and out, rock bottom. Unable to land a job, no vehicle, just a bad turn of events. But I love what Stevie says starting from 5:30 in the video, it really hits home. I dont have much, but Thank you Lord for my family, my close friends for their love and support, cause in the end, all I have to give right now is my love to give....

  • @fsg2963 word.........sheer poetry.

  • Not the same as the version he does where he talks about being down on the ground literally and couldn't get up. Love this just the same.

  • @omga14 link that version bro

  • @hofflander It's the version 1957fenderstrat has up on here. Around minute 3:12 is where he stops to talk to the crowd.

  • @omga14 cheers mate that is a great version!

  • Great lyrics...I want this song played at my funeral. Very meaningful words and awesome guitar playing. He left this world way too soon. RIP SRV.

  • Gives me goosebumps every time I hear this song!

  • *pours some of her 40oz out* RIP SRV

  • favourite song by him. also, great performance.

  • le plus grand guitariste de tous les temps!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The day is necessary, every now and then

For souls to move on, givin' life back again, and again

Fly on fly on, fly on my friend

Go on, live again love again

  • Thank you Stevie! You gave us the very best music and we will never forget.

  • This truely an amazing song. EVERYBODY : Check out the REMASTERED "In Step" album! There is what I consider to be the best version of "Life Without You" ever (they're all good), listed as a bonus track on the album. It was done live like this one (I don't know where). The feeling put into the solo will blow you away. Let me know what you think!

  • @krg465 I completely agree. I get choked up every time I hear that solo. You can just see/feel the emotion he puts into his music. You hear most musicians, but you feel Stevie's.

  • @richjr1981 i couldn't agree with you more! i feel his music down to my bones! love, love, love Stevie!

  • @richjr1981 THANK YOU

  • unique

  • HAPPY 55TH BIRTHDAY STEVIE, Life Without You, and the way you grin, I play your amazing music everyday, you are Truly missed and Loved by us all. You're still the BEST OF THE BEST

  • Awesome SRV.

    RIP

  • It is Amazing and a well picked song for that Night, cause he Just Buried his Father that Night and Chartered a Plane to Play here with Lonnie Mack! He is the Most Loved and Missed Man,Singer, and Guitarist Ever. So Real So True So Honest So Soulful. Pure Unrelenting Soul! I was Learning This solo the Day I heard the News He Died There were Teardrops all Over my Guitar that Day! So Loved.

  • @donniesr72 You are SO right!! RIP Stevie

  • rip,

  • he makes 'playing the guitar' look so easy, his picking method is amazing. There will never be another Stevie!

  • simply brilliant guitarist much love

  • Music is not the same without you SRV,WE MISS YOU!

  • tonight at 1201 is the day it happened man nineteen years ago..... teardrop i love you stevie and miss you

  • An angel walked among us...

  • Not of this world.

  • Still loved and oh so missed beautiful one!

  • He sure is !!!

  • clapton cried over hendrixs death he bought him a left handed strat and was supose to give it to him the day he died

  • Most soulful playing I've ever heard!

    R.I.P. Stevie!

  • El puto amo si señor, guitarristas como el ya no se hacen

  • There aren't enough stars on YouTube...or anyplace else on earth...

    Magnificent performance, challenging message.

    Stevie Ray....

  • wow, thats deep man...

  • Thanks. Stevie Ray was deep. That's one of the things I liked about him. I appreciate your comment...

  • this realy take you by the nuts man, unbelievable what a soul he puts in this song specialy at around 8 minutes

  • No one better.

One of my favorite of his hats.

  • well people say that because SRV took the plane EC was going to take

  • helicopter to be exact

  • jus imagine if clapton was on that copter instead of SRV..not saying anything bad but clapton cuz hes awesome :D but jus think bout it

  • That would be weird... I kinda ashamed of it but i would rather have eric be on the copter.... SRV is my biggest influence in my playing. Just think SRV might've still been with us and i could've seen him live maybe....

  • @dmmcmaster2007 He did... Claptons touring band at the time was killed in the HELICOPTER crash leaving the show that night @ Alpine Meadows. I was at the show and heard the news the next moring and I just burst into tears. If you read SRV's biography it's even more sad becasue with all he struggled with, his life had finally turned a corner and then he died... RIP SRV, The world is a lesser place without you.

  • I watched this for the first time just now. Cried like a damn baby. I'm a 43 year old redneck. This song is straight from the angels via SRV.

  • Stevie is very dear and near to my heart, his music is uplifting and heartfelt,i wish he were alive today, but then again maybe the Lord gave him an early ticket home,so that he wouldn't go through the sufferings that most "pure" souls have to endure in this harsh world that tends to hate those who love...sad for us,But maybe when all is said and done, those of us who make it,will trade a few licks with him in that place where ALL blues will be played for joy, and no longer sorrow,God bless you all

  • "When the world hates you, remember that it hated me first." - JC Superstar

  • No you're not. You are smart. Give yourself some credit.

  • ha!

  • @mindaflame7 im not trying to put a damper on things, but i think everything happens for a reason. Can you imagine Stevie alive today? Trying to hold on for survival in this shit music industry full of emotionless "song-writing"? Unfortunately, I think he would have ended up like most powerful musicians do; playing local bars for small crowds and remembering the golden days and having people see you as a washed up guitar player. I love that Stevie still lives on, so its better to just let it be.

  • @malcolmcox I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. There's no way Stevie would be considered a "washed up guitar player" if he were alive today.... I believe he would've followed the likes of BB King or Buddy Guy ~ and they are far from being considered "washed up". Just my opinion.

  • @NChorseluvr I agree SRV had staying power.Eric Clapton is a great example he is still having success playing large venues and staying relevant and Eric even says SRV was better than him so i think SRV would be successful in any era because he was so gifted and soulful his talent would have kept standing out but either way he is great.T.C.

  • @mindaflame7 Your close..God took him home cause his guitar playing wasnt of THIS earth,And if you were God wouldnt you want to have Stevie throneside all day everyday jammin..Be the nice afterlife, giving guitar lessons to God himself..Thanks for the awesome vid..jamm on !!!

  • @mindaflame7 thats beautiful

  • id be worth it to have the helicopter never invented just for SRV's sake...

  • @fenderstrat918 it would have made vietnam more pleasant

  • @fenderstrat918 Fuckin amen man.

  • Also, this is the only video I have seen on youtube with no dislikes. of course...i completely jynxed it...but it was worth it haha

  • @fenderstrat918 very unique and utterly true comment. 2 thumbs up, sir

  • srv was and is still the most inspirational artist ever his music has touched the souls of millions this song is beautifull

  • I'm just as sad today as the day he left us.

  • jimi hendrix influenced stevie to great extent, jimi was before his time, but stevie was right in the time he was needed, i'd rather listen to stevie than hendrix though i like them both, the sounds are different the music styles are different, i like them both but stevie is the best in my book both in talent and personality

  • SRV was a real gift, as was Jimi Hendrix. Just amazing human beings.

  • what do you mean?

  • ther aint no one better!.

  • my father recently opassed on to a better life but me and him love stevie unfortunatley two great men are staring down at us r i p dad and stevie hope you see him live up there dad always on my mind forever in my heart

  • Good. Yes. Great? OK. Best?? No, No......The best is Hendrix...sorry southern fried folk.

  • stevie preachin on this one...he was truly one of a kind...still sorely missed...take your place brother.

  • its amazing the heart he put into his guitar playing and how he never played the same thing twice always pushing his self to be the best he gave his love to everyone he could. its funny how he always thought his brohter was better then him even though he was hes just a beautiful person end of story R.I.P stevie your the best

  • ~~I was so fortunate to live right by ALPINE VALLEY, and I saw his last concert before he died. World's greatest guitarist....his guitar was an extension of his arm...alive.

    R.I.P. Stevie.

  • wow... I wish I had the chance to see him perform LIVE.....

  • Right there with you, Dude.. :(

  • I saw SRV open for Huey Lewis/News as well as before Joe Cocker. People were talking and milling around while those of us there for SRV were not exactly happy. Sad he passed on way too early.
