  • btw, great job with this 3 part series. Really gets me thinking..

  • Does anyone know where to purchase body armor plates? I have a plate carrier mollie vest on the way but have not been able to find the plates themselves. I am a civilian - some of the sites that I looked at restricted the ceramic plates to military/LE only. Any help would be appreciated.

  • there was a storm in video

you should turn off the computer when thundering

and I think your rain barrel did get pretty full cos i heard heavy rain

    nice vid

  • @southernprepper1

  • You're right about the country because we used to live 15 miles from everything. We had one neighbor and the rest of the land belonged to the Warehouser corp. We owned 7 1/2 acre horse farm. Most of our state had a hurricane that took out the power grid and we were on our own. Five days into the blackout a military Humvee arrived with soldiers canvasing the property. I was at the back of the property getting hay and they were getting head counts of the residents. It could've been looters instead

  • I don't support moving to the country, all the brain conditioned sheep soak in all the scenes from the films or movies.

Though there are advantages to both living in the city and in the country .

Also a month or two after the event there will be way less people in the city.

  • rambo did not have any cool gear he had a knife and a burlap sack

  • A couple of good books for ideas and plans is survivability on the battlefield which is a military field manual and "total resistance" which was wrote for the swiss to defend against Hitler. The last is a bit outdated but has a lot of timeless info in it and is the best book I've found on resistance by civilians against superior forces. It would be a good book for ideas on how to fight against invasions, occupations n such imho. Just have to keep in mind current tech vs ww2 tech differences

  • what about shooting people from the roof of your house?

  • I also have a place to retreat to(I live in a small town but my granddad owns a small farm out in the country). It doesn't have any farm animals on it though...so no renewable food source. There are streams where we can gather water and purify it by either boiling it or putting stuff in it. Plenty of weapons and ammo. plenty of defensive spots. If only I could get my family on board with prepping.I don't want the s to htf and not be ready...since I'm 15 and can't do much.

  • @sarge958 First you sound like you have a support structure yes they are not preppers but they are a family. You have a spot to go yes no animals but learn how to plant a small garden and stock a few seeds. Learn how to trap for food. Learn how to live off the land. You will make it. Right now learn and read and practice survival skills when you can.

  • Ugh.This sucks. We have no room where I live to prep. My parents don't seem to want to prepare.I do. I just hope that crap doesn't hit the fan until I get out of high school and college and get my place.

  • Words of wisdom.

  • Sweet! I love this style from you David!

I'm working on figuring something out for my families security. Things have changed quite a bit recently in my family living situation.

  • nice job on the national geographic thing, it looked like your community was the most prepared. the beginning of this video seems to describe some of the others. im surprised they put your real names on that tho

  • My great grandma had the idea that she could hide stuff from the federals. One day Shermans Bummers came to visit. Do i need to say more. Of course, i will attemt to hide my goods but its hard when dealing with professional, experienced searchers.

  • Your at the top of my list when it comes to Preppers. At #1!

  • Sounds like incoming artillery in the background. I am guessing it is thunder though.

  • Thanks for the info, thought you guys did great on natgeo!

  • Enjoyed the NGC presentation. It got my exteneded family talking. My step dad thinks I worry to much and my mom says she feels safer with me. Go figure :) Blessings!

  • great video..thunder was nuts

  • YUP! Ppl think theres always more food in the country! Great vid! GOD BLESS!

  • What do you do when, like in katrina, they come to your house and try to disarm you. What if they also want to take our stored food to distribute? Do you comply? How could you fight the national guard?

  • @glockfan86 Have a place to hide it is one answer. Having a community that is united also will help. Hard question.

  • @glockfan86 Sounds like the hallmark of tyrannical govt the Founding Fathers warned us about. That New Orleans PD / National Guard civilian gun confiscation case broke the 2nd, 4th, and 14th amendments.

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." (Thomas Jefferson Papers p. 334, 1950).

  • @glockfan86 "[I]f circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude, that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little if at all inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their rights and those of their fellow citizens." -- The Federalist, No. 29

    - Alexander Hamilton

  • The thunder kinda adds to the ominous vibe of this video lol

  • I love your tactical discussions-- Gives "civillians" things to think about

  • Saw Nat Geo it was great. Thanks for trying to get the information out there. I have been watching you for quite a while and have learned alot. Keep up the good work.

  • thanks for this video...... this one really made me think !

  • Glorious thunderstorm you had there, hmm? My first thought: rain barrel!

  • Death by power point, ahhhhhhhhh!!!! I left the Army to get away from this! cough cough, dying...

  • Great video! As usual, by the way the show last night I felt was really good. My boys think you are awesome and are now on board 100% with helping me prep. Thanks so much.

  • Maybe you can't protect your home from inside but how about from your roof with some sandbags? I think the biggest danger is not bullets but someone setting your house on fire to kill you or make you exit your home so they can capture you.

  • @FriendofCat you are not a target your supplies are, if they burn your house down they go too. But don't count on

    this.

  • is that a thunder storm in the background?

  • Sure appreciate you sharing what you presented at that conference. It was too far to make it.

  • Thanks for your calm, common sense approach that always comes through. Saw the National Geographic show last night too and it looks like your family and the other family have done a great job with your planning. You are far ahead of the majority. Thanks again.

  • The high building density cities will go up in flames when the food runs out. A fire will start and spread and no Firemen are going to put it out mid riot.

  • Good info. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great information brother. Thank you for all you do.

  • Great vid--smart.

  • Excellent information as always sir!

  • dude you the man awild prime time t.v. conquring wild man...hahah im sure you made your"community"proud i know iwas.....god bless god speed ....this weWILLdefend....

  • hey awesome show last night. i was left wondering who their experts are because you and those like you i feel would be the experts. but hey what do we know right. anyway great job.

  • Excellent stuff, Man!

  • I saw the "Doomsday Preppers" special on nat geo. asside from the title, it was great. the "expert" didnt have many legitimate critisisms to give you.

  • Hey you should check out "Oath Keepers", and Infowars . com

  • Mindset, Skillset, Toolset. Needed in that order. Good video.

  • excellent presentation!

  • There is a lot of valuable information to absorb in this video. Thank you for the education.

  • I am concerned about fire! Especially in the city! A lowlife druggy, pro, or ten year old boy could level a house or a large chunk of preps in seconds and easily more! Riots show this is a problem and it has been a successful combat tactic since...forever! I hope you spend some time on this in part two! I would really like to hear your take on this. Maybe in part two?

  • Great vid..

  • Another excellent vid! You have given us all lots of ideas we can use as we frame our own medium and long-term security arrangements. No need to copy any of this to learn from it. Just think through each issue in the context of your own security and read through the comments that'll be appearing here over the coming days. There is bound to be useful info in those, too.

  • Great video, SP. Keep'm coming!

  • @southernprepper1 Thanks for reinforcing the info and for being on the NatGeo special. I'm a beginner and my sig other has been resistant. After watching, he realized I have NOT been crazy and is much more willing to participate. He went and got his BOB from storage (storage!?) bin and it's back in the house. Thank you thank you!

  • @rocovering I am with you on this one.. hoping my hubby gets on board soon...

  • Lots of good food for thought there, SP1. Good job with the NatGeo program as well. Sounds like ya'll were getting a pretty good storm!

  • @gimmeloot442 I found plenty of choices at my local army navy store

  • very true

  • already watched it at conference but watched it again full of useful info thanks

  • Great video, I saw you on Nat Geo SP, even though they said you were too visible I still think putting this information out into the public is good for everyone.

  • Ill be reinforcing my homes windows with steel plates. As one precaution.

  • Good advice there sir

  • where the hell do you buy body armor at???? lollll I went to the gun store and the clerk look at me like I was crazy!!

  • @gimmeloot442

US Palm Defender is one option.

  • @gimmeloot442 Goggle it and you will find alot of dealers. Do your research before you buy.

  • @southernprepper1 I found some on Criags list fairly cheap:)

  • @southernprepper1 Great info for all of us to know thanks brother. Not allot of people want to talk about this. Thanks and keep them coming

  • @southernprepper1 What level of rotection do you recommend?

  • Comment removed

  • @gimmeloot442 You can also sometimes find them at gun and knife shows

  • @gimmeloot442 look up bulletproofme . com Great site with very easy to understand info

  • @gimmeloot442 google Line of Fire body armor, that is supposed to be some great stuff and they ship to us lowly civilians.

  • @gimmeloot442 Check out bulletproofme(*)com as they have some pretty good deals.

  • @gimmeloot442 TheHossUSMC has a good video on some excellent body armour made out of ar500 steel that he shot with a 338 lapua and didn't penetrate.

I'm not sure how I'd get some in Canada due to laws, I might try to get my hands on some of that AR500 steel in it's raw form and make it myself.

  • @gimmeloot442 try not to buy ballistic plating, that stuff only lasts a few round before you have to switch out the ENTIRE plate, very expensive, you should buy sectioned ballistic plating, that way the plating has to only be replaced in the sections it has been shot (kind like a scale armor) also its much better than a stiff plate on your chest

  • You really point out some important factors that alot of ppl do not think of. Thank you, I am still trying to see if I can find you on Nao.Geo, on line, all I can find it the 2 cllips you posted in your link the other day, if you know a link that I can watch the whole episode from I would appericiat it, I don't have a Tv only the computer. Thanks again...Misty

  • Also Southerprepper What if I bug-out to my grandparents house in rural I mean really really rural Mexico? Where there is only 31 people that live in a ranch that isn't registered (LOL) Everyone there is basicly a prepper, because they are so deep into the country, and just have everything they need in their house (The houses are made of 3.25 thick adobe my grandpa said) Would that be enough to stop, say a 30-06?

  • My cousin lives in Rural Idaho and him and his neighbors are preppers and he is now Idaho Air national guard and served about 20 years in Regular air force he also is a great hunter/outdoorsman and his neighbors are pretty much like minded I wanna bug out to the great west with lots of meat (Deer, Elk, Moose,Bear,Goat,Antelope) o.O

  • Nat geo wit do you thank

  • You vid on defensive strategies was very help and we recieved a bit more on that this time. If we could get further into that, each of us can develope some kind of basic plan and contigencies. Some believe that 5 persons are the minium needed to provide a 24-7 watch and then there are 'force multipliers'... Any of your favorite 'cheap tricks', that is devices that can alert or otherwise would be good to know. :O)

  • I saw you on History channel. Good job.

  • yeah i own body armor

  • Given they show a mom and kids at an indoor range shooting who knows who's guns but never show a Phoenix, AZ. city dweller with a room full or even ANY guns...just a knife.

  • Wow, after seeing just how badass your shit actually is I think I should just hang it up because I am screwed!

Shame on Nat Geo for the DoomsDayPrepper title but I do think they portrayed you guys in a good way.

It is interesting how they would not show the city folks with "guns" though we know they had em. Only in the backwoods do they portray a citizen defending ones self with deadly force,,,,,? yep, Nat Geo is owned by THE MAN.

  • good vid, i am there myself, but feel alone are there groups around the country

  • great job on Nat Geo. They did a decent, respectful job covering the topic. You came accross as knowledgeable as you are. Wish I lived in SC or could find folks like your group.
