It takes a 500 ton press to remove the shaft. No one has a press that big in Maine
So we burn a hole in the shaft and it shrinks over night and we can press it with our 200 ton press. Most of the time they will come out with less then 75 ton. We do 2 to 5 a week!

@celticbobb No never had one do that. We heat the armature to 300 f and cool the shaft to 365 -f
and slide them together.
