  • These words still hold true... Deploy in the military... We will Lie for you... We will die for you... So if you want to stay alive just give me all you've got to give, and then perhaps I'll let you live. Words are important and words describe feelings. Abusive families or the acts of war they both hold true... Just depends on what side of the fence you swing on, I'm in the military.

  • Sometimes I think we are overthinking lyrics, make them more obscure than they are. Before reading some of the posts here I always believed this song to be about people in abusive relationships, family and otherwise. It would be so cool to hear Supertramp explain the meaning behind several of their songs, including this one.

  • your a meathead, lol, He means another guy bro

  • man you took the best part of the song, the instrumental at the end....you just mutilated a Picasso or took out Harrison Ford off Blade Runner....

  • awesome album my uncle has every one on a-track my fav album

  • Killer track from 'Crisis? What Crisis?'!

  • This song is the ANTHEM of CHRIST, it's the Battle Hymn of the Republic, what are all you jokers talking about?

No one but me, I'm gonna die for you, and lie for you. A friend will help you move, but Jesus will help you move a body.

  • @shizzleman8 It's a little hateful to be the song of a man who preached peace, no?

  • @elgranelgraf Ain't that something, we sing "My God is a warrior", and the next breath He's our Wonderful Counselor, and Prince of Peace and Mighty Judge, and the Son of God, and the Everlasting Father, and The Lion of the Tribe of Judah, that one always gets me choked a bit, cause I'm Daniel, Have you ever wondered how Jesus can wear so many hats? If I'm in court and the same person who's laying charges against me, the prosecutor, is also my defense lawyer, advocate, and judge, it's perplexing.

  • @shizzleman8 I'm sorry, you lost me there. My point was that this song was rather hateful, and Christ preached naught but love and peace.

  • @elgranelgraf We conform Christ into the image we're most confortable with, why not? The fact is that he drove everyone away at one point and turned to his flunkies, "Aren't you going to leave to?", "Where else are we going to go, we've given up everything to follow you." 8)

It's a nice thought love and peace, but it doesn't work in politics and every other aspect of live. You love the Jews, you hate the Palestinians. Jesus didn't like the religious or the hypocrites, I know, I am one.

  • @shizzleman8 I'm not even Christian and I recognize that there's no interpretation of Jesus that even works in terms of Christianity besides that which is in the Bible. I could just as easily say he was actually a velociraptor who shot people with AK-47s in the name of the United States (or at least in your system of thought), and found a denomination of Protestantism based upon that.

    Love and peace, man.

  • @elgranelgraf I can make a case for Christ. When the Lawyers questioned him about a woman who married 7 brothers in succession, the Jewish custom when one dies a brother takes his place, they asked him who's she would be in the after life? This separated the two camps, the Pharisees & the Sadducees who differed on this point about the world to come! Even 2,000 years ago the attorneys were messing us up.

"When you die u become like the Angels, not given or taken in mar." see NDERF doht org

  • @elgranelgraf I have been missing your point, the song's not hateful, it's a mixed metaphor, a clash of titans, jekyl & hyde. My Dad was the greatest savior who's ever lived, with such awesome power and ability comes tremendous arrogance. I save you, you owe me your life. If I can find you and pull out of hell on earth, I am to be feared and reverenced. What do you think our fascination with Christ is all about? It's not Christ the annointing that we love, it's his willingness/ability to save!

  • what a shame the lyrics are pretty horrible in the chorus...

cos this song is so creative and beautiful
